Love the game, but a teensy bit dark in subject matter
This game is great, I love checking in a couple times a day on my island of cats and making the place better for them.
However, I noticed that although the game is all cute and fun on the surface, some details and lines of dialogue in the game hint at the nature of the game being a lot darker and more depressing than it looks. Granted, it took me a few days of playing to notice the signs and maybe it’s obvious, but it seems like this island that the cats are traveling to is their version of the afterlife. I don’t know if it was intended to be this way, but there are a couple of cats whose character descriptions mention that they are wondering where their humans are, and that they haven’t seen them in a long time. That coupled with the fantastical nature of the game leads me to believe that you are creating a utopia of an afterlife for all of the cats you invite. This makes me want to play it more, I want to make my island as comfortable as possible for these cats, even if they are just clumps of pixels on a screen. If the game was intended to be this way, then I applaud the developers in leaving the lore in character descriptions and small details, for those who are curious to piece them together.
Overall, this is a phenomenal game, and I hope it just gets bigger as time goes on, or more games like it are developed by the same team.

Cured my depression
This game cured my depression when three different antidepressants and therapy couldn’t so that should tell you something. In the beginning I was skeptical because I wasn’t sure I’d like the game, but I stuck with it for only like a half hour or so and fell in love with it. It’s so cute and entertaining and I could play for hours. There are enough goals and achievements and new unlocks, that you never get bored and there’s always something cute that comes with it. Like for every new location you get, you also get new animations from the characters because they can do new stuff with each place. This game is so well thought out and has the player in mind; there aren’t too many ads and the ones that exist are either optional or not obnoxious and actually helpful or interesting (there’s a guide that is in place of some ads so you learn some stuff from that). I cannot recommend this game enough, I never write reviews but I have never found a game that isn’t solely created for monetary gain. You can buy stuff with money in this game but you never feel pressured to nor is it necessary for fun gameplay. If you’re on the fence about this game, get it. It’s so worth it and such a fun time consumer. It’s also not draining of battery which is insane seeing how beautiful and thought out it is.

The artwork and story set this one apart
At its core of gameplay, it’s just an idle incremental game with the exact same basic mechanics and interface as many others. But this one is just sweet and lovely. A bittersweet tale that says without saying that it is about the afterlives of these gorgeously rendered kitties.
An impulse ad led me to playing Penguin Isle for a few days and I went to write a review that was going to say that it was just like Egg, Inc., only without the dark story of chicken exploitation that it gets to (sorry, spoiler alert on that game LOL), but then the App Store of course recommended others and I was surprised at how a few of them used the exact same interface. Like to the point that it’s hard to believe that they are made by different developers.
Wait. I’m getting off track here… the point is, this is one of those games with the exact same interface as several others. But this one is really, really nice to look at. If you like this type of game and you like the artwork in the game description, then you will love this. Even if you were just drawn to the art, I’d recommend trying it as it is a nice little world to take a pause in. It’s even probably worth it just for the gold-giving flying whale dude.

Lovely game :)
I just recently started playing and I’ve found myself really happy with this game! I’ve had a couple mobile games similar to this one and they just haven’t been enjoyable because I would always get stuck due to not having enough money etc but I love how this game rewards you. It feels like I can constantly be progressing in someway. Whether it be by upgrading my little island, or just making my cats happy. I absolutely adore the little letters they give you as you level up in friendship! The designs of all the cats are also very well done and the game design itself is very soothing to look at. I will say sometimes all of the icons on the screen can be a bit overwhelming but once you get used to what they are, it’s not too bad. Other than all of that I also caught on to the fact that this might be a little after life for the cats, and I think that’s a really wonderful part of it for me. It might’ve seemed a little sad at first but the idea of getting to make sure my little cats get to be happy now is very sweet and makes me want to play more. All in all very good game, I can’t wait for what might be added in the future.

So cute! And Not Bad and my realization
I absolutely love the art style of this game it’s so relaxing and I love the music. But the only problem I have with this game is the mini games I know mini games are supposed to be sort but the fishing game is kinda not so good it’s too easy maybe like add a little more to the mini games. I was too lazy to read the story of the cats that I invited to the island but I couldn’t help but be curious of the cats story. So when I kept invited the cats to the island I would read the story of each cats. It took me a couple of days to realized what happened to each cats (the story of each cats gave it away). Spoiler Warning: The island that I was building up was actually the afterlife place for the cats. Since I realized that and put more and more thought into it and now the story of each cat that comes to the island had a story of their own of how they got into the afterlife. I guess really cute games can have such a dark storyline in them. But I kinda like the combination of the cuteness with a dark story.
But the only problem I have with this game is the mini games so just too easy and sorta not that entertaining. But despite the complaints this game I this is cute. I played it because it was a cat game I love cats.

Dear My Cat, I love it!
This is just something that I use as a regular mobile game, not relaxation, but it’s great! I have seen complaints of lost data, and overheating phones, but none of that has happened! Sure, it should be fixed, though it’s not horrible as long as you don’t spend money. I don’t like the puzzles though, they have too low chances and can take weeks. I like collecting the cats, and I love watching the cats on the island! I usually don’t stare at it just doing nothing unless I space out, but this game makes me. Though money is super slow in the late game. And don’t get me STARTED on Chef Popori… Okay, it’s just that he costs 2000 gems for ONE CHARACTER. And, not a complaint but dark themes. This game is placed on a island in the sky, right? The game opens with Nana’s dialogue, saying things like how did I get here, and just kinda confusion. This looks like, of course, a afterlife for cats. That sky train is taking cats from the world and to the afterlife here. They miss their owners, luckily they seem to enjoy themselves. Anyways, my complaints are small and I still love the game, that’s why I have five stars. I just ignore the issues.

If you love cats and are looking for a game that is both peaceful, pleasant, and enjoyable I would definitely recommend! I have been playing this game for a couple months, and it is my favorite game I’ve played on my phone. I’ve struggled to find a game that i can put a lot of time in and one that i can enjoy at this same time. I’ve put hours into it! Reading the stories of each of the cats, and it’s really fun finding more to add to your collection and to the population of these lovely islands. This game is peaceful in various aspects: the music, the ambience, the actions of the cats, and even the tones of every cat in each of their letters you can read. I have also enjoyed every event in the game so far! It gives you the opportunity to do something new and earn new rewards. There are ads, and to get through the game at a reasonable speed you will have to watch some, however the creators made it so you are at least rewarded for watching them! I am so excited to continue playing this game and I think the creators have done a fantastic job of creating a story and a beautiful piece of work. I encourage them to keep up the good work!

Calming, Easy, Cute, and Fun!

I won’t say too much about this game other than the fact that it really helps me calm down when I am stressed and I look forward to leveling up and accessorizing my little cats. I read the top review which mentioned the idea that this may be an afterlife for cats and I can’t get past that. I kind of which wish I hadn’t read before playing the game as I would have liked to see if I would have been able to figure that out myself. But I really love the game, the progression is slow sometimes but not as slow as similar games and it doesn’t take the fun out of the game overall. I highly recommend this to anyone. I’m a grown woman and still love this game. The only thing I would warn about is that the adds are not all appropriate for children and I implore the game creators to please curate the ads based on the age group you are targeting. I’m well over 21, but for a 4yr old a mature, sexually aggressive werewolf pack story that reads the story aloud during the advertisement is NOT appropriate. Please find a way to fix this, as I would also rather not see that ad either.

Adorable game, a few glaring issues.
This is a lovely little idle game, and one of the only mobile games I’m willing to watch ads for. Three major issues I’ve had while playing this game are as follows. The first issue would be the immense drain this games puts on your phone battery. Granted, it’s probably not the same for different ages and models of phones, but even still. Nothing else on my phone will use up 20% battery charge in ~5 minutes. The second issue is the longer the game runs, the poorer the performance becomes, with it reaching nigh unplayable levels in around 30 minutes. Luckily you’re not using playing this game for that long in one sitting anyway. The third and last issue, probably the worst offender in my opinion, is sometimes watching an ad for a reward will not work. Dear My Cat has this neat feature that rewards you for watching 5 ads with 30 gems. When the previously mentioned bug occurs I do not get the initial reward nor is it counted towards this 5 ad bonus. One ad can be around 45 seconds and after completion nothing is given. I’m still playing as the cats are adorable and I love progressing my island, but these issues are really testing my patience.

Fun and bittersweet, but…
I really like this game so far. It’s fun and cute. While the descriptions suggest dark implications behind the happy-go-lucky nature of the game, they give you an incentive to keep collecting cats. All in all, the game is kinda fun.
All that being said, I do have a few gripes. Since this is a mobile game, I expected micro transactions and ads aplenty. And boy are they aplenty. It feels like just about anything I press will give me an ad. For example, do I really need to watch an ad when something is ready to be obtained (like whale bonuses)? To top this all off, you have five different kinds of currencies. All of which do different things (obviously). Other than the main currencies of the game (gold and hearts), they’re really hard to get without paying money. I really don’t think this game needs so many.
These are just my Day 1 thoughts. Knowing these games, I know I’ll eventually hit a road block (if I haven’t already) where progressing is so slow that I’ll either be forced to pay to go any further, wait a really long time, or just not bother anymore and stop playing entirely. I haven’t dropped a cent into any mobile game I’ve ever played, and this one will be no exception.
