We've been very busy for one year, making deals to get new AAA content for DMDJ. It took new contracts, new deals with third parties, major recording sessions and editing content till our ears bled. But the update reflect the hard work we've done. Check below for the list of the awesome updates we put into this version.
- Huge Environmental Presets content update: 100 (oh yes!) Environmental Presets are awaiting to challenge your perception and fill your adventures with sound!
- New Feature: Weather Presets. Separate presets for weather playing together with our beautiful environments in order to create super cool combinations. Our Weather Presets will detect if the Environment that is playing is indoor or outdoor and sound accordingly. For example you can play a weather preset for rain while inside a house and the rain will sound like its coming from outside. Advanced technology in the service of your adventures!
- Custom Dice: Sides of Custom Dice are increased from 8 to 20, now you can have fun with far more options to your custom dice.
- User Interface: Scrolling heaven. Now all screens feature scrolling, so say goodbye to the old pagination buttons. Scroll your hearts out!
- Content: Content Optimization. All content is optimized even more for your listening experience and its now lighter on memory of your device.
Also, for the people that are asking if DMDJ is under development, we would like to say that we love DMDJ and we are developing it to be the best tool for digital storytelling our there. Our content is of AAA quality and hard to find and manipulate. Our audio engine is one of the best around even for desktop games, hard to develop to run on a phone, but we do it. The audio playback experience of DMDJ, consists of more than 20 tracks playing back simultaneously, with random movement in place and depth together with digital processing, in order to give a non-repetitive experience. So yes, we are developing DMDJ, we have many plans for the future and we have a strong foundation to support future development as a company. This update brings a great new feature to DMDJ that will help you all be quicker when changing through your favorite environments. Introducing "Snapshots", the user now can easily capture the current state of DMDJ to a special list, accessible directly from the main page. This includes the selected environmental preset, the music track and the intensity settings. That way the Storyteller can prepare all his favorite states in a list and then just select them from there. This also includes the state of the music (solo or mixed with environment), that way you can easily change from a light environment without music to just music and then mix another environment as you go, all this with only 2 actions.
We also made a huge update on our special effects (FX) section, which now features random playback of variations of each effect to avoid repetition, a huge update in content and the introduction of many more categories like "Horror", "Cthulhu", "Fauna", "Extraterrestrial", "Weapons Medieval", "Weapons Modern" and many more! We licensed new top of the line sound effects, already used in top selling cinematic and gaming productions. New Features:
1) User now have the ability to import their own music and use them together with the Factory collections. (Using iTunes play-lists for the device, please refer to the Online User's Manual for further details of the process).
Improvements:
1) Music playback now has a "Shuffle" mode. turn it on from the "Edit Mode" menu.
2) New and improved "Edit Mode" with subcategories.
3) User now has the ability to switch off the day/night changing ring-tone.
4) No Quick Start guide anymore, all info can be accessed from the Online User's Manual.
Fixes:
1) iPad Retina display compatibility.
2) Better device memory handling, especially for the iPod, iPad1 and iPhone 3GS.

We are working hard, to bring those wonderful ideas to life and we thank you all for your suggestions. A special form to submit ideas for sound presets and effects will be added on our website soon.

Super Helpful but...
It's a good app with multiple uses for DM's, but ultimately it's still very flawed. In terms of ease of use I'd give it an 7.5/10. It syncs very easily with your music collection, even from subscription based music apps like Apple Music, and it has a very helpful guide you can access from the options. The Dice Rollers and custom dice formula creator it has are an amazing touch.
The problems however are the fact that there's no effective quick way to silence the sounds of certain options. A pause button would be an awesome addition to have for the layers. Also the lack of sound affect options is pretty bad for a paid DJ app. Even free DM Sound board apps like RPGSounds seem to have more sound affects and battle loops. What makes the lack of FX even worse is that half of them are sci-fi space sounds and half are traditional fantasy sounds.
More SFX, a pause button for the layers, and if you could make it continue to play from the background while I switch over to other apps that would be amazing. Or better yet, add a customizable initiative tracker. That would definitely make this a 5 star app. Hell even if the tracker was a paid addition with slots for info I'd definitely pay for it just so I don't have to interrupt the scene music to do my battles.

Also the lack of sound affect options is pretty bad for a paid DJ app. Even free DM Sound board apps like RPGSounds seem to have more sound affects and battle loops. What makes the lack of FX even worse is that half of them are sci-fi space sounds and half are traditional fantasy sounds.
More SFX, a pause button for the layers, and if you could make it continue to play from the background while I switch over to other apps that would be amazing. Or better yet, add a customizable initiative tracker. That would definitely make this a 5 star app. Hell even if the tracker was a paid addition with slots for info I'd definitely pay for it just so I don't have to interrupt the scene music to do my battles.

While it took a while to learn DM DJ to use it to its best ability; ive enjoyed it immensely. Following the directions to add playlists of my soundtracks made this the perfect app for me. A few other DMs I know went heavy into the other music RP program and after a couple campaigns dropped using it. The time it took to organize and the monetary drain became annoying.
The simplicity of this one keeps it useful: select your environment, music, day/night, and weather and youre good to go! Go learn to create your own playlists!

Great Value, everything I wanted.
After searching many options to use during our tapletop RPG sessions, this is by far the best value, and actually most customizable. I found everything I wanted in this app. I wanted to be able to use my own music and sounds from within the app, yup. It's a one time fee, not a subscription based service, yup. It has a lot of preloaded songs and effects from all genres, yup. It has the ability to preset music and effects in a custom way so that I with one button I can have all of my custom ambience playing, yup. Also some of the reviews, although positive stated they wanted to be able to turn up or down aspects of the volume, but couldn't. Maybe there has been an update, but I easily found the mixer and was able to do all of that very easily.
Very happy. I hope they are able to add even more sounds and songs, I would gladly pay a dollar or two for an expansion, but it is pretty loaded and like I said you can import your own playlists right out of iTunes.

A few things holding it back...
So far I'm loving the quality of this app, but I feel there are three things that are holding it back from being a solid 5-star:
1. Background capability: I use my iPad for referencing campaign notes, which creates odd moments of silence when I switch apps. As such, I run DMDJ from my iPhone, but this kills the battery since I can't turn the screen off.
2. Landscape on iPads: I feel like this is pretty self explanatory. Your website recommends using an iPad for a better overall experience. Most iPad cases orient the iPad in landscape.
3. A nice to have: iCloud backup the snapshots for easy transitioning between devices.

Good App with some flaws
Very solid app with lots of options and easy integration of my music on iOS. However it’s missing Airplay support which blows my mind since it’s designed to go to high quality speakers and I have to use a Bluetooth speaker instead of sending to my Airplay receiver for better sound.
Also the inability to mute sound effects on demand is rough. Overall I still recommend this app but I’m hoping for these two updates in the future.

Still the Best
I’ve been using this app for years and while other similar apps charge you for new “packs” or by the environment, this one gives you everything up front, and more of it! The environments are amazing and never sound looped. The layering is perfect. You can buy another app and then keep paying for it, or you can pay once for this one and have it all.

Pretty Great! But...
So I like it, but honestly there’s a few things I’d change.
1) Some actual in-app tutorials or explanations of the custom dice rolls and some of the more complicated features would be nice.
2) Some additions to the sound library it comes with would be rather nice. Under weather, I mean, you don’t have just... wind? A lot of areas are a bit lacking.
3) Biggest thing of all, when you first open the app it says it’s meant to be played through a hi-fi speaker system. Alright. Understandable. But the thing is, you can’t even preview things unless you have speakers or headphones or something plugged in. It just... deliberately WILL NOT play out of your phone’s speakers. And if I’m just setting something up, testing things out, messing around... I don’t care about sound quality. Let me hear it!

Almoooooost perfect...
I'll start by saying I haven't had a chance to test at a session yet, but I'm relatively certain DMDJ will perform well. I'm more worried about my rustiness as a DM.

Great app, a few draw backs
So this is a great app. Good interface easy to use. I think it would be nice to have a pause button on the different effect and sounds, not just the music. It crosses the boarder from background noise to foreground noise. Even on its lowest setting there are a lot of sounds going on at once. Otherwise the labeling is great, music and sound effects are very well crafted.

Amazing!
I love this app! Not only can I add atmosphere to perfectly match any situation, but I can also add in FX for the battles! The only thing I really wish this was able to do would be to have the app continue playing in the background so if I had a note saved, I could close the app while it continued playing music, pull up the relevant notes and then right back to add the sound effects...
