Way Too Easy, No Sound
I’m not usually a fan of these types of games but I’m a huge Doctor Who fan so I downloaded it as soon as I saw it in the App Store. It’s been a little over 24 hours since I started playing and I honestly find it pretty boring because it’s just way too easy. I’m on episode four and made it to a new map so I did give it ample time to get more difficult before writing this review, but it’s still just as easy as it was in the beginning. Also, the first time I opened the game the theme music played, other than that, there’s no sound at all (yes I checked the settings).

Overall, it’s a decent game, but maybe better suited for younger fans. I’ll keep it downloaded and will play from time to time. I really wanted to give it 3.5 stars.
Scifivision,
I really wanted to like this but it’s too boring and repetitive to keep playing
I wanted so bad to like this game. I am a huge Doctor Who fan. I was so excited that not only was there a Doctor Who game, but during my Apple Arcade trial. It started off cute (although a bit juvenile) and most of the hidden objects were Easter eggs/jokes from the show, which was great, even if nothing was “hidden” and it was super easy…Until that’s all it was. You have to find hidden objects to get paradox dust to move forward each piece of the story over and over and over - but they are not even just the same few scenes and same objects but half the time the objects are in the same place! Over and over to get energy to move the story along just to do it again, rinse and repeat. I played it for awhile just to see the story but after finding the same objects too many times I got so bored I finally quit. I get you want young kids to play it too, but that’s not the issue. 2 stars only because it’s Doctor Who.

I Really Wanted to Like This
As a Dr. Who fan, I truly hate to give this anything less than 5 stars, but it was just too boring for my tastes. I guess I had assumed it would involve a variety of puzzles, like the old school Big Fish puzzle-adventure games. Those were the best. Unfortunately, this is just a straight hidden object game. The different scenes do offer some variety, but it all feels SO repetitive. Find objects, earn “paradox dust”, spend paradox dust to fulfill a task, find more objects, earn more paradox dust, rinse and repeat.

The graphics are nice, the story is cool, and the game is functional, so it should get 3 stars for that alone. It’s just not an enjoyable game for me personally. If you’re really into hidden objects games then this is more for you. I suppose my particular neurodivergent brain just needs more variety to feel truly engaged.
mgcQuirk,
Written by people who really know Dr. Who
References to old adventures and old enemies pop up frequently during play, and the dialogue feels silly to me in the same way the shows do.

The hidden object scenes start out pretty easy, with relatively few items, but search difficulty grows over time. You unlock new scenes as you play - this game has the most I've ever seen. And levels? Hundreds and hundreds.

Unfortunately, they didn't expect to have players who fail as much as I did. Because of that, I ended up running out of levels before I could finish the story, meaning I was stuck unless I was willing to start over. This game-breaking bug is the only reason my rating is less than five stars.
HznnzhBean,
*Updated review: great game, all around
Update: It’s all working hunky dory now, though I seem to have finished the game and now the Doctor cones on screen telling me to wait while she cooks up a new adventure…

This has been a fun game to play! I love the Dr. Who theme 🥹

As of May 9th, the game was the conplete and the following was my review:
Wow, I really enjoyed this and have been hoping to get to the end of the episodes and then I got relegated to endless mode and I literally get no paradox dust now to finish what seems to be the LAST episode. I have completed all of the collections, unraveled most of all the mysteries (except why/how Kara has the Master’s TARDIS 🧐) and am trying to get Kara to Regnidorch II but it’s just stuck in Endless mode. I literally can’t believe I am not able to finish the game. Gah! I am listing cons first 😭 Cons: Can’t even finish the dang game -totally stuck after 1000+ levels 😖 Really repetitive picture searches & PROS: Doctor Who through time = awesome The story line has been somewhat compelling Graphics are pretty good
Jameydee,
Enjoyable, but…
By the time you get to New, New, New…York, in the third segment of Episode 17, after you turn on the Reality Modulator, the game gets stuck. There is no way to progress past that point. A restart puts you back before you activate the Reality Modulator. The Doctor, Yaz, and the two Judoon just stand there, and you never get the interface. Also, the scene with the statue of the two Sisters of Plentitude (cat nurses), the chessboard is referred to as “outlet” in the word list, which puzzled me as I searched in vain for a power outlet in the scene until I used a power-up and realized it was misnamed.
The Real Kel,
Was fun, but now it won’t start
I was enjoy this game until the last two days. Now, every time that I try to start the game up, I get a message about a save game conflict, claiming that another user on a different device is simultaneously using my account in the same save game slot, and I should choose a different slot. The game immediately tries to reload and then gives me the same conflict message again. Over and over.

I can’t get into settings, I can’t choose another slot. I have deleted the game and reinstalled it, but I still get the conflict. There is no other user, and there is no other device. The game is only installed one one authorized device that shows up on my iCloud account.
wylmcc,
Not enough content; too much content
Ok, I will admit that I played this game longer than its value. It became a neurotic form of relaxation.

Here’s the thing: this isn’t a bad game. The graphics are fine and, if you are a fan of Dr. Who (I’m not), this is probably a fun story to follow.

The problem is how long you have to play to move through the game. I cleared over 1000 boards and have no idea how close I was to the end. That would be an impressive feat of programming to provide such an extensive story line… If the game had equally extensive diversity. Instead, you get the same objects in the same places of the same scenes. Over. And over. And over. And over.

The developers tried to mix it up by providing different kinds of games (words, shadows, reversed image, etc.), but each method felt cheap; here’s the same image only in reverse, now we can double the number of levels.

As I mentioned, there was a meditative quality to the game, but this is not an incredible gaming achievement. There just isn’t enough content to justify the time one is expected to invest playing this game.

Needs improvement
The game is good; however, the constant having to tap or click is annoying and the loading screen appears too many times. Also when you click on a task it should take you to the tasks instead of taking you back to the main screen then having to tap the blue square with lines to get to the task. If you click on the task and it knows you do not haven enough dust then it should immediately take you to the hidden item screen to earn enough. In addition, the fact that sometimes there are bubbles over the person speaking and then it goes to the bottom row of the screen is annoying.
NiiftyAF,
I see Dr Who game. I give it a try.
I normally don’t play “find the item” type games. But my love for Dr Who had me download this right away. Seems very quick and easy and little thought put behind this. But I can see the appeal for these types of games for the young ones and simple time wasters if you need it. I can’t get the audio to work? Phone volume all the way up and turned on in the settings. I dock 1 star for that little thing. Could be user error somehow I guess. Works great other than that.
