"Elegant, easy to navigate and sounds brilliant."

"I can't enough express how amazed and happy I am playing this app. Before to write this review I read the manual (you must) and tested every parameter until understand perfectly how every one respond to the final output sound. I have to tell you the presets do not show how powerful this synth can be, you have to tweak by yourself every filter, modifier and fx's. For me the filter is the secret in this app to get a differentiated sound compared to your other synth app's. Filter add a deep texture and resolution to the sound that I forgot lfo's and adsr's.""

"One of the best iPad synthesizers!"

"This sounds better than 99% of iOS synths. Filters are awesome. Modulation options are numerous. Effects are great. Sounds like a Mac plugin, not an iOS synth. Very little out there like this. I have paid hundreds on the Mac for this kind of sound."

"A wonderful synth with it's own unique character to it."

"This app is excellent! Just enough of a twist on the standard synth app to make it worth the investment. Patch creation seems to be the focus, and UI is perfect for flipping back and forth while working out new presets. Cloud support and coming VST integration makes this synth truly a promising venture."

"Huge tone that will cut through any mix Fantastic control options for the musician Rich sounds and a beautiful visual design A developer who cares greatly about his customers and creation (frequent updates) It's alive! Recommended!"

"Easy to lose yourself in sound design. The sound sources, fx, filters and modulations are all laid out to be very easily accessible. The mixer is great for tweaking the balance between the sound sources to fine tune your sound. Can tell some love went in to making this"

"Great, rich, full-sounding sounds! Great job!!!"

"Awesome updates from a developer who truly cares about both their customers and their work. Nice job!"

"It is FAT. The interface is intuitive. It is universal."

"This is really a fine example of a synthesizer whose developers love synthesizers. It is rather difficult to explain, but there is something within not only the interface, but in the nature of the sounds that this thing produces that shows their passion. This synthesizer is a patch designer's tool, not a preset player. Yes, it does come with some nice patches which show off some of its abilities, but when you start to dig in yourself, you can create some really unusual sounds."

"Excellent job guys. The GUI looks great and everything is extremely easy to access and in a logical way. The fact that you can upload your patch to the cloud and carry on working at home is a plus also."

"Nice effects section great delay nice chord section IAA instrument support complete with transport bar and Midi learn. Good stuff."

anickt,
It's Great UPDATE
It’s still awesome in spite of the pandemic! 😁 What are you waiting for? Just get it!!

Don't believe the negative reviews. Anyone with a reasonable amount of experience with synths would know how awesome DRC is. The trial period is fair. I wish others did the same. It's got a lot going for it, sounds great and is very flexible. If you can't afford $15 or whatever it costs these days don't buy it. I found it's well worth it and if other synths had a trial period like this I probably would have purchased fewer of them. This one’s a definite keeper.
austiniodtx,
Accidental Purchase. Decent synth but misleading.
I recently downloaded DRC and after playing with it for only a few minutes, I was prompted to pay $8.99 because apparently this “free” app is really a trial. Because my finger was rested on the home button when this happened, payment went through without me having a chance to stop it. Ugh.

I think having the ability to create sounds on the go and have them easily loadable into the desktop VST is an incredible feature, but the VST costs an extra $79! Not a fan at all of this business model, because if I really enjoyed the synth I would gladly pay more than $8.99 to get it on all platforms.

Now, the synth itself is a standard subtractive synth. There are some cool presets that show off what the synth can do, and I really like the chord keyboard function. The oscillators sound good and the effects are decent, especially the tape delay which is a lot of fun to play with.

I also own Zeeon on ios and prefer the sound of its filters and modulation options, as well as it having a sequencer. Although it was an accidental purchase I still can see myself coming back to DRC. The GUI is slick and its fun to play with, but I feel like I’m missing out on its best feature which is cross-platform patches. I already own a bunch of softsynths and hardware that I use in Ableton, so I won’t be shelling out another $79 for this anytime soon.
Augurybot,
Dark UI - borderline scam app
Pretty Cool sounds, really strong synth for an iPhone and iPad app…. Even though i paid for a bunch of the upgraded features quite some time ago - and spending $30-45 or more… it isn’t worth ever using. Dark UI scams you out of your money. Not worth it. How you ask?

Every time this app automatically offloads to save hard drive space it will not remember your purchases. There is no “restore purchases” option.

Clever girl! (Picturing that scene from Jurassic Park when the raptor learns to use the door handle)… because after a few minutes, upon downloading and using it again, it will ask if you would like to purchase an upgrade to continue using. Again there is no restore purchases option. There are many features for purchase on this app and so….

If you have purchased, and agree to buying again… it will restore your purchases at no cost.

If you don’t remember if you’ve purchased a feature or not, and you have not…. It will charge you for something you weren’t sure you already owned.

After a couple of years of trying to use this synth, and having been charged a couple of times for things that I didn’t really want…. it can safely be assumed this “faulty” UI is undoubtedly on purpose. Come on, it’s been YEARS.

Don’t download this garbage, there’s much better options out there for both your ears and your wallet.

DARK UI. APPLE, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS.
Ghost buster 2.0,
Great Synthesizer
I love music production. I’ve done it for a year now and I’ve improved a lot. I’ve used GarageBand for that time. It’s a great app for music making. Anyway ever since they added 3rd party music apps for GarageBand and the ability to use external synthesizers, my music production quality increased. This app helped me up my game with music. It’s honestly great. It has lots of tools for EQ and editing for a certain synth, and it has a variety of different synths you can use other than the default one. My only problem is that once you download it bugs you to buy the full version. If you set it for free the entire app should be free. It shouldn’t ask you later on to buy the full version. But I removed 1 star from that. And the majority of the time they don’t interrupt the overall recording of the audio, so it’s all good.
Sjanqia Flabberbottom,
Still trying it out. Just bought it
Haven't integrated it yet. So far so good.
This app sounds wonderful. The controls are appropriate and numerous. The layout is great.
I have never used iOS in earnest for live as I don’t have a CCK so the hold option is very helpful mixed with the multiple oscillator settings.
More experimenting for me and less whining from the “free/ time limit scammers”. Really you can’t figure it out in that amount of time? What are you on the fence about? Imagine buying a hardware device that did what this does and then imagine the cost. A boutique synth of this sonic quality and control is not comparable in price. You would prefer 28 minuets? 45? When will you reach that final decision as to whether it’s worth the money? Smdh
VisyEng,
Maybe increase trial/play “time to $$buy$$” message
I think it’s great that you offer a trial period allowing potential customers to test drive your product. In lieu of offering a free & minimally functioning app loaded with distracting advertisements.

I would consider providing a little more time before the “aren’t you loving our app?” pop-ups start. I think you do have a well laid out, nice sounding product. Why not let people experience it & become more familiar with it’s sounds and features. If you are making a good product I will buy. I am sure I could uninstall and use it some more. I stopped and tried it because the sound caught my ears. But started to lose interest as the interruptions kept popping up wile I was trying to figure out the synth.
Eriptron,
Almost but not quite...yet.
Update:

Yes, they're better synths (for far less money), like Audiokit One Synth that's free!

$30 for the whole app is laughable. Yes, it has good sound but they're gauging us on it's price. I could see the whole package for $15.

-------
I have not come across a developer of iOS apps that locks the whole app if you don't but it. $15 is way too high considering the missing "basic features" (no numerical settings values, no note hold, etc.) And now not being able to even look in the app, I change my 4-star review to 1-star. Deleting the app. There are plenty of good synth apps; Crystal Synth, Mitosynth, Magellan, Animoog, Nave, Sunrizer, TC-11 and iMS-20 are some of my favorites.

-----
While DRC does yield some real down and dirty sounds, it's missing two important features that I am surprised the developer didn't design into the app.

A note hold button is a necessity. Without one you handcuff the performer constantly tying up one hand with the key board. To do it right you need nite hold as well as note hold toggle.

The other is there should be a numerical setting display for the control values so you see what the exact setting is.

The user interface is better than many synth apps. That aspect was well thought out.
GrahamBablam,
I get it now! (UPDATE)
Earlier I wrote a review complaining about three “issues,” specifically the advertising pop ups, noise bursts and failing to save AUv3 presets. I just really didn’t understand their business model or realize that this free version is a TRIAL. Imaginando sent me a very polite response to my review that cleared everything up. Now that I know that the free version of this app is designated as a trial, I’m pretty seriously considering buying the full version. It’s a great, beautiful synthesizer and the cloud preset function looks really great.

Thanks, Imaginando team!
Dasbk312,
DRC
I love the fact that I can create new sounds and tweak the ones that are there. I like to create unique sounds that I can use in my music which ranges all styles of hip hop from flipping samples to original hip hop to dancehall reggae. Having the ability to use and make my own presets is the best feeling. Especially when someone asks which app or plugin I used It’s like a secret that only I know about in my circle of friends who produce and or rap , sing or just like to sound design. I bought the extra bells and whistles. Keep up the good work
swancakes,
Love DRC's Philosophy!
These guys are smart and understand what pro and semi-pro musicians want. DRC fills a void in the synth app market in being the first elegantly portable sound engine. I can transfer a preset that I create on the iPad to my iPhone and (I believe) can also load it up in the VST/AU version (although I have yet to purchase that). Sounds should not be restricted to a machine and Imaginando gets that. Not to mention, DRC has a unique character and can sound very gritty and analog if you know what you're doing.

My only wish is for DRC to be usable as an iOS audio unit (AU3) -- and hopefully one day they will consider this.
