Peejjj!!,
Good App but it’s bad for pilots.
First I would like to say that the app functions as advertised. You can get bid requests for drone jobs and they do pay for them if completed as requested.

Now the company on the other hand that runs it. I don’t know about. I’ve had my time wasted on more than one occasion. Early on when I didn’t know what I was getting into I accepted a bid for a site 30 minutes from home base. After accepting it I realized that the $70 they were going to pay was not going to cover the 11 football field size buildings they wanted roof aerials and facia they wanted pictures of. After an hours there and 3 buildings done I responded that I could not get it done. I was removed from the job and not compensated for the time or pictures I did get.

More recently they gave me a site contact that no longer worked for the company. I was then denied access to the site. I’m guessing that my time won’t be paid for their mistake there either.

They also consistently ask me to do work for sites that are outside of my area. Some 100 miles away for $70.

Downloader beware. Their advertising to get drone pilots is not what it seems.
ReallyY.,
Good for practice
Ok I’ve been using Dronebase for about a year now. I started out just doing simple flights to grab pictures of buildings and have expanded to doing pano and ortho shots in the last month or two. You expand your knowledge and training level as you go.
The app is nice and I receive a good 4 to 6 missions I can do per month. I think it really depends on where you live. Can I live off it? No, but it’s nice learning some of the ins and outs of the drone industry.
Now they have slowed payments too.... by a lot. I used to do a job and get paid by the next week. My last job was completed by me last Tuesday, passed by Dronebase last Friday, and I won’t see payment until the Monday after this next week. So in total close to a 3 week wait for payment.
In all not a bad app for finding drone work, just don’t go thinking you’ll be able to quit your day job with it. Know what you’re getting into. They seem to only accept DJI drones and I would recommend having at least a Mavic 2, or Phantom 4 to start using this app.
hudster,
Wow, great company to fly for!!!!
I have had nothing but positive experiences with this company. They are fast to reply to any of my emails, even if it is just to ask general questions. I recently had an issue with a mission that was 50 miles away, and couldn't complete it do to complications with the management. Dronebase gave me a payment for my drive; that was definitely nice of them to do that. Also, Qwil, which is the payment system they use is fine, as long as it is set up ;) It does take a week or 2 for the money to be deposited in your bank, but you can pay a tiny fee for same day transfer; Qwil isn’t perfect, but it’s not the worse thing. I really cant wait to see what this company has coming down the line, but I will be ready! Thanks DroneBase for a great experience!!!
Friendly-FireArms,
1 year - no luck
I have waited a whole year to rate this app & company and I really expected better results. I have been signed up with Drone Base for about a year. To date I have only received one notification in which I declined because the reimbursement (payment) was less than the actual gas to drive 2hrs away not even factoring my time and outside costs. I have only once received a notification on my old iphone, the other 3 potential jobs were already contracted by the time an email was received to accept. I think it’s a great concept but I am a little disappointed that I haven’t got a chance to accept viable “missions” in a year. I would love to have my kind changed on this rating but so far it’s been a bummer. I have done everything asked, purchase top equipment, obtain licensing, insurance, and knowledge but nothing on Drone Bases end but a message to sit tight!. Anything?
mj2089,
Decreasing pay, now NO pay
They used to be decent...then, early in January, communication with DroneBase became oddly difficult. Simultaneously, they decreased payouts by about 18%, only to claim that this would be beneficial for pilots in the long run (obviously the opposite is true).

Now, they’ve failed to pay for nearly 3 weeks for completed work. Their payroll provider, Qwil, that DroneBase asked them to suspend payments. DroneBase countered and said it’s a “miscommunication” with their bank. Obviously, between an 18% decrease in pay and now payments that obviously aren’t coming (under the guise of a “miscommunication” with the bank), it seems that DroneBase has run out of money.
Smoov danger,
Vampires
Considering the FAA doesn’t punish illegal unlicensed commercial fliers, and that dronebase doesn’t do much better other than promise you leads for jobs that don’t pay enough to cover your insurance premium which might be up to 300 miles away... this app is trash and thanks to dronebase and apps like it, they’ve made it all more competitive to the point where playing by the rules hurts you financially.

You’ll make way more money with a cheap website, google ad words, and a little social media marketing than you ever would have with a poorly paying app regardless of how legit it might seem. These folks are trash and offer you $50 for a roof inspection, only to reject it. It’s a waste of time considering I can go market myself, learn how to not get caught, and rely on people being understanding [considering NOBODY CIVILIAN knows about FAA part 107 rules (and why should you!?)]

Screw these turds.
Ase review,
Don't waste your time
Sending jobs for $30. And you can't even accept those because they're snatched within less than a second. That's $30 before tax. To hire a professional, licensed, insured, independent contractor pilot. And somehow with that pay being so low, there's still so many desperate pilots on this platform that if you actually stare at your phone and wait for the job to come in and click the notification immediately when you get it...the job will already be gone. Don't waste your time. Find your own clients directly. This app is garbage. I've been on it for a full year in a major city and the only job I was able to complete was the required test flight for $0 (or negative considering my time and expenses for the free project). Sick of apps like this.
NitricOxcide,
Great company
I have been with them two years and it has been some rough periods of business. They are consistently looking for new ways to improve and offer more services for clients. The industry is still new and not everyone knows what a drone can do for them. It’s a process and with the growth steadily increasing I think in a couple years pilots will be able to make a decent income flying with dronebase. I’m rooting for them and their success. I have learned a lot doing over 130 missions for them. Practice practice practice and I’m getting better by the job. Thanks Dronebase.
mk2947,
Corrupt? Or just dumb
I have been an “activated pilot” for a few months. Never once have I gotten a notification about a job in my area. On my 3rd polite attempt at asking why this was happening, and getting the same cut and paste answer, I decided to delete my account.

I was told after explicitly outlining the problem, and was met with the answer that “missions are sent to pilots one at a time to give everyone a fair chance to take them. You might not be seeing missions because other people are accepting them before you can get to them.”

So. What I am taking from this, is that the FAIR system is to only give one pilot a chance to accept the job. So who knows why certain people are given the opportunity before others, but to me this is not the “First come first serve” opportunity that is advertised on their website.

So for any new pilots. Go to other sources. Find your jobs elsewhere. This company has a backwards approach to fairness and to be honest doesn’t deserve a cent of the money that your work is worth.
Miltrez,
Would like more preferences
I have flown over 40 Client missions, in excess of $3,000 in earnings with them. I would like to see them go to a merit based Client assignment for those of us who have stuck with them to make it more reliable for them to project who is available in which region.
Fail to see the "scam" everyone is so quick to cry about. Don't fly pano's if you don't want to. No one is twisting your arm. Wait for the Client ones. Geez. And grow up a little.
