Eating Healthier
Since using this app, I’m definitely more aware of how many fruits & veggies I’m eating each day & I have been making more of an effort to eat healthier. It’s kind of fun “earning rainbows.” I think there could be a better explanation of how the Favorites button works. I tried it once to add a few items to the favorites list, but then every single item I added that day went onto the Favorites & every time I add something new to a day, it now ends up on my Favorites list even though I technically didn’t add it as such. Also, being able to delete items from both the Favorites list & daily list would be nice for when I tapped on the wrong item by mistake.
jazzjazzguitar,
Incredible app! (Just a few suggestions!)
As a nutritionist myself, this app is truly a gift. Finally a food tracker that doesn’t depend on counting calories or macros. Color is a joy to keep track of, and inspiring even. I love how the app also includes targets for variety (10 or 15 different plant foods per day and 30 or 45 per week), though those don’t seem to work on every device (it shows the days totals 10/0 instead of 10/10 or 10/15)

I only wish foods could be added custom. For instance I had purple kohlrabi, but kohlrabi is only available under the tan category. There are also many ethnic foods not available - like sorrel, burdock, mizuna just to name a few.

Look up Dr. Deanna Minich for a wealth of resources on the rainbow diet, for free on her website.
Cranberrylemon,
So far, very good!
I’ve been using this app for about three weeks. It’s easy to use, colorful and fun. I like the dashboard and the categories pie chart. The daily bar graphs clearly show that I need to eat more yellow foods! I appreciate that you can add foods to previous days if you forgot some. I have mixed feelings about the lack of any information on how much counts as a serving; I kind of like that it’s left to me to decide if I’ve had enough to enter a color, but I might be giving myself credit when I haven’t really had a full “serving.” Still, it’s motivating to see the colors add up so I want to earn that rainbow. Thanks for your work!
Ellenor,
Not fond of the new update 😔
I used to love this app (with the exception of having to enter in each item manually, especially if it was under the same color). It really motivated me to eat a variety of colors every single day (and noticed the correlation between eating the rainbow and my mood). It would even motivate me to make a different choice if there was a color missing towards the end of the day. For example, if I hadn’t eaten anything orange, I would reach for something that could help me complete that category.

Well, the update allows to check more than one item off at the same time (kudos to that change). However, now the colors I’ve eaten are MUTED and look the same as the ones I haven’t. Not so motivating anymore 👎🏽.
AussieGinnie,
Fun!
Increasing your fruit and veg intake is one of the best things you can do for your health. I really like this app because it allows me to track my fruit, veggie, and nut consumption to see where I could eat more in a particular color on a given day or over time, and focus on increasing counts of unique foods within the colors.
I *love* that it’s not weight loss/calorie count focused - increased diversity and intake of fruits and veggies is a much better goal, with less risk of a disordered relationship with food.
cokebottleglasses,
Looking for something like this
I have been working on getting healthier for some time. Food journals that focus on calories tend to feel like a huge chore and I only ever use them for a few days or weeks at a time. This app is more fun, and really encourages me to eat more fruits, veggies, legumes, etc. and a greater variety. I find that when I eat more of these things, I don’t go for unhealthy foods as much. It’s a really great positive reinforcement tool for eating healthier.
Jananda Sunshine,
JUST What I’ve Been Looking For
I’ve been vegan for a couple of years now and interested in upping my game. I was eating a lot of vegan junk food. I just finished reading Fiber Fueled and learned that the best indicator of gut health was the diversity of plants consumed so I was looking for an app to track that. THIS is it! Easy to log. Beautiful. And Educational. I read a bunch of reviews before I downloaded it. Including the one star that hates the order you placed the colors. Yep. Pretty much NOTHING wrong with this app. Thanks for spreading the plant based love! 💕
jen0moose,
Easy app!
I am a visual person, so I need to “see” if have eaten enough. App is instantly easy to use & gratifying. I can use one page to quickly add what I eat and watch the rainbow get brighter. The dashboard gives me the breakdown of what I have eaten. Scrolling down I can even view a quantity of portions. And I love that it isn’t just fruits & veggies, but also whole grains as well! The list of items is enormous. Everything I have searched for is here...even red, green & purple grapes!
Kim Brie,
Perfection
Absolutely perfect! You covered all the bases of what I was looking for. From a wide range of foods in each color category to the benefits of each color group. Additionally if you were curious about a certain health issue and what color food would best benefit a person, you covered that as well with a section broken down for this. Thank you for creating this app. It’s truly one of a kind!
hamortimer,
Exactly what I was looking for!
I have been looking for a way to keep track of the diversity of plants I’m eating without tracking calories - this is it! I love that you can track daily and it will give you an overall weekly summary of how many different plants you ate, even if you repeat some of the same foods throughout the week! I can’t recommend this app enough! Especially if you’ve read Fiber Fueled, this is perfect!
