Description

The premiere periodic table app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Quickly reference any element and all the information you need. Search for elements by on classification, phase, orbital, mass, or number. Dynamic filters help you understand periodic trends, like electronegativity, at a glance. Dive even deeper to get standard, frequently-used data points such as mass, electronegativity, radius, radioactivity, electron configuration, and more.

LEARN
Each element prominently features:
• Symbol, name, and number
• Atomic mass
• Electronegativity
• Electron configuration
• Atomic radius
• Melting and boiling points
• Year of discovery
• State at STP
• Radioactivity

Elements are also accompanied by discussions on its uses, discovery, and more. You can quickly find more information and publications about each element via links to Wikipedia, Science Direct®, and the American Chemical Society®.

EXPLORE
The periodic table is laid out in a clear, concise manner that adapts to the size of your screen. No more squinting at blurry images of the periodic table from web searches. Beautiful color-coding helps you quickly distinguish element classifications, phases at STP, electronegativity, and atomic radius. Trends and filtering help students who are learning chemistry to visualize patterns.

SOLUBILITY CALCUALTOR
A built in solubility calculator* answers all your, "is this soluble in that", questions. Just specify a solvent and a solute to check their compatibility. A solubility lookup table is also available for cross-referencing multiple combinations.

VISUALIZATIONS
See beautiful depictions of elements from raw to processed, and in other forms. The extensive library of images help you understand what your lab samples should look like, or may be helpful to students learning about chemistry.*

SEARCH
Search for elements by name, symbol, mass, or number from within Elementium or via Spotlight. Results are shown directly on the periodic table. Need faster access to element information? Search directly from Spotlight on the lock screen or home screen of your device.

BOHR MODELS
Animated Bohr models for each element help visualize how electrons are oriented around the nucleus.*

WRITE & REPORT
Academics and students writing reports and using data frequently in the classroom or the lab can simply tap on an aspect of an element to export its information.*

HOME SCREEN WIDGETS
Add the Periodic Table widget to your home screen for quick and easy reference to the Periodic Table. Or, try out the "random element" widget which is useful for students.

ADDITIONAL NICE THINGS
• Custom app icons
• Set temperature and atomic radius to your preferred units
• Search Spotlight for elements
• Thoughtfully developed with accessibility in mind
• A subscription is totally optional

Hello! I'm excited to share "The Fuzzy Roadmap" update with you all. From the in-app settings you'll find two new items: fuzzy search and roadmap.

ROADMAP
You can now view and cast your vote for planned and upcoming features. Open the in-app settings and choose the "Vote on New Features" option. Here you'll find a list of planned and upcoming features. Tap the up-arrow to cast your vote for the the features you'd like to see implemented the most. I can't wait to see what ideas you're excited about; and remember to check back regularly to see the status of any planned updates.

FUZZY SEARCH
I've begun rewriting the element search algorithm from the ground-up using a new "fuzzy" search technique. This means search results for elements will be a lot more forgiving. For example, searching "Neptune" will show "Neptunium" and searching "Bo" will only show "Boron" and "Bohrium" (instead of every element that has the letters "b" and "o"). The results are much more accurate, more forgiving, and just as fast as before. Because this is such a large change to how search works, you'll need to explicitly opt-in to try it out. I'd love to hear what you think and how it works for you!

I have quite a bit more planned for the coming weeks and months; so stay tuned (and check the new roadmap)! :) Let me know what you think by leaving a review or sending an email to me at hello[at]samspencer.art.

Cheers,
Sam

Hello chemists! This update includes subtle, but exciting, improvements to the look and feel of element detail screens. You'll also notice a number of performance improvements and bug fixes :). Read on to find out more!

ELEMENT DETAIL LAYOUT
Element descriptions are now much, much easier to read. The color of an element only affects the top portion of the screen, so you can read without straining your eyes (on a higher contrast background). Additional improvements and hints have been added to element info items for customers who use VoiceOver. I've also added a sticky header to element detail screens so you always have quick access to additional element sources, and to close out of your current element.

IMPROVED EXPORTING
Exporting element data is now easier than ever. If you've purchased the "Export" feature, or are an ION subscriber, you'll now see a Share button (upwards arrow in a box) on each element detail screen. Tap on the share button to select the pieces of data you'd like to export. A new "Export all data" option also lets you share all information about an element in one tap of a button. And, of course, you can still export data as before by tapping and holding on a data point.

I want to give a big thank you to Alan for taking the time to provide feedback and insight into the export feature!

CUSTOM TYPOGRAPHY (FONTS)
ION subscribers can now customize the font style (serif, sans-serif, rounded), weight (light, medium, regular, bold), and line spacing to make reading about elements just that much nicer. Find the new options in Settings > Typography.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
You may have noticed unusually long wait times to get the Periodic Table loaded in recent updates. We're talking upwards of 2 (TWO!) seconds. That's a long time to wait around for the Periodic Table. Rest assured, this update reduces your wait time to about 30 milliseconds on most modern devices.

SMALLER THINGS TO NOTE
• Home Screen widgets now open to their displayed element
• Filters & sorting should be more responsive
• Fixed a few iPad layout issues

As always, I want to give a big thank you to everyone who uses Elementium! I appreciate all of your reviews and feedback and read it all (and it often makes my day). So if you're enjoying Elementium, please take a moment to leave a review. If you have any feedback, or just want to say hey, send me an email at hello[at]samspencer.art

Hi there! I've been hard at work on a few wonderful improvements to Elementium these past few months. This update focuses on accessibility, performance, and in-app purchases. And, Elementium is now updated for Apple TV - perfect for projection in your classroom, or on a monitor in your lab.

ION TRIALS
Beginning in this update you'll be able to start a free trial of ION before deciding to subscribe. If you're on the fence about whether some of the features and tools included in ION will be helpful to you, starting a free-trial is a risk-free way to finalize your decision. And, as always, if subscriptions just aren't your cup of tea you can purchase individual features for a single, lifetime price.

PERFORMANCE
Performance improvements are hard to qualify, but here's what I think you'll notice:
• Decreased download size
• Faster app launch time
• More reliable Spotlight results
• Reduced battery consumption when viewing Bohr Models

ACCESSIBILITY
If you use VoiceOver or a screen reader, you'll notice that both the Periodic Table and element details are now much easier to navigate. Periodic elements are now a single VoiceOver item instead of disparate items. I am continuing to work on making Elementium more accessible and would love to hear any feedback; especially about what could be improved.

DEEP LINKING
This one is for all the power-users out there. You can now configure links to open specific elements using the elementium://element-name format. For example, to open the Nitrogen page, you'd use elementium://nitrogen. Improved support for Siri and Shortcuts is on the way; this should help out in the mean time, though!

3.1.1 BUG FIXES
Fixes a number of small issues, including:
• Purchasing a subscription should now immediately unlock all app content (no opening / closing required).
• Links to feedback and support are fixed.
• Resolved a crash that may have occurred on devices running iOS 15 when viewing photos for elements.

I appreciate all of your love and support, and have so much more planned for Elementium over the weeks and months to come. If you enjoy the app, or find it helpful in some way, please take a moment to leave a review. And, if you're an educator or school administrator, I'd love to hear from you about how you use Elementium with your curriculum.

With love,
Sam

Hi there! This is just a small update to fix a few issues. That is all. More exciting things coming soon.
3.0.1
2021-10-04
3.0.1 fixes an issue for some iPad users who may have seen a black screen when opening Elementium for the first time after updating. This should be fixed now: no more dark voids! Huzzah! And, if you missed what's new in 3.0, here's the run down again:

RESIZABLE PERIODIC TABLE
Just pinch to zoom in or out on the Periodic Table. As you zoom in or out, information will be added or removed to fit the available space (nice!). Plus, the Periodic Table layout is much cleaner and easier to read on any device.

VISUALIZE PERIODIC TRENDS
In addition to existing visualizations for classification, state, and orbitals you can now view trends for electronegativity and atomic radius. And, more will be added soon. ION subscribers get instant access to these new trend visualizations.

SOLUBILITY CHARTS & CHECKER
Check the solubility of different salts using the new solubility table, which shows a wide range of common solubilities at STP. ION subscribers get instant access to a new solubility checker to quickly check the solubility of two compounds without needing to use the lookup table.

IMPROVED SEARCH
Searching for elements is faster and cleaner, and when searching on the Periodic Table you'll still see elements that don't match (they'll just be dimmed instead of hidden).

CONTINUED UPDATES
I've still got a lot of updates and new features planned and can't wait to share it all with you. I rewrote a lot of the code in this version, so substantial updates should come faster from here on out.

As always, if you have any feedback, questions, comments, or concerns please reach out to me at [email protected] or using the feedback option inside the app. And, if you have a second, please rate or review Elementium on the App Store or share it with one of your classmates or teachers!

What?! The Periodic Table in a list? But, why? Its something that's been requested for a long time -- a fan favorite, if you will. The new list of elements will help you to get to the information you need even quicker than before. Plus, ION subscribers now have access to Advanced Sorting Tools: a great new way to understand the elements. The new Advanced Sorting Tools allow you to sort by a number of properties including electronegativity, atomic radius, melting and boiling point and more.

As always, bugs have been shooed away. Some new animations were invited over; they brought some house-warming gifts. Things should look a little nicer now.

2.1.1 update includes some cosmetic / interface updates to the Guide tab. Nothing new here, but it should look a lot nicer now.

Thank you for your support! If you have a second, let me know what you think or leave a review.

Rutherfordium is definitely not Aluminum. And Helium does not have a p-orbital. Thank you to Bennett and Lothar for taking the time to send an email and let me know about these issues. I really appreciate it, and this app wouldn't be where it is today without all of your support.

More updates and content to come, I promise! Especially for all of you who have kindly subscribed to ION or purchased a premium feature: thank you! Updates for you are on the way.

In the meantime, I'm focusing on making sure Elementium is as stable as possible (don't want any rogue neutrons flying around in the app!).

1.6.0
2019-04-07
I have been overwhelmed at the recent support for Elementium -- thank you to each and every one of you. This update, as requested, includes localizations for Spanish, French, German, Dutch, and Portuguese. There are also a few improvements behind the scenes to get Elementium ready for future updates, new features, and bug fixes. Yay!

ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT
Localizing an app is difficult. Localizing an app that has specific, critical terminology can be very difficult. I have done my best to provide accurate localizations for the following languages. If you notice an issue in your language, please send feedback using the "Give Feedback" button in the "Guide" so that it can be corrected quickly.
• Spanish
• French
• German
• Dutch
• Portuguese

BOHR MODEL ZOOM
Tap on a Bohr model to view it in full screen, in all of its beauty. Tap again to dismiss.

TODAY WIDGET
Quick access to the Periodic Table from your device's Today View (even on the Lock Screen). To add the new Periodic Table widget to the Today View, open the Today View, scroll to the bottom, tap EDIT, then add "Periodic Table" to your widgets. Hurrah! Elements even closer to your fingertips now.

BUG FIXES
Small, behind-the-scenes bug fixes. Hopefully you didn't notice them to begin with (but if you did, hey, check out that "Apply to Beta Test" button). Those of you who experienced a crash with Study Mode, it should now be fixed. However, it is proving slightly elusive. If there are still issues after this update, expect a fix in the next day.

Again, thank you for all your support. Share Elementium with your classmates and teachers -- it is my hope that this becomes a useful tool for everyone.

Rate Review App,
Best Chemistry App
This is my first review and I thought it is worth doing it on this Amazing App. First off, this app is so user friendly and my experience with it has been great. Elementium is a must have for any Chemistry Lover. Second, this app actually cites its sources in a visible place so that if you are confused with any material covered in the app, their sources are right there at your disposal. Third of all, This App has no in-app purchases and no premium version or anything like that. Elementium is a 100 percent free app. That is what makes it so lovable. All in all, Elementium is the perfect app and is one of my favorites.
JimmyBee1959,
Great app.
I am a layperson with only high school education. I get curious sometimes and turn to Elementium to satisfy that. So much of this content is over my head. But the in app links to Wikipedia is pretty cool. It has definitely paid off while yelling out responses at the TV during Jeopardy!
Sawdust & Noise,
Was Five Stars, Then ...
After the latest update, the app began throwing ads. That's instant deletion as far as I'm concerned. It's gone.

Update: What comes up when the app starts for the first time is an ad for an in-app purchase. It takes over the screen in an irritating fashion, and it is not obvious how to get rid of it. There does not seem to be any further aggravation, but time will tell.

Other than that, it's a great app.
ParkerPeterson,
Best periodic table app!
I’ve never had an app as informative as this! You don’t need the subscription really unless you’re taking a class. But the subscription to all the Bohr models is fantastic, highly recommend to students!
whatever it takes!!!,
Nice layout in iPad; crashes on 6G iPod Touch
Easy and intuitive to use, I like the variation in colors to show the differing elements. There’s plenty to learn about each element within the app as well as links to Wikipedia to learn more. I first downloaded this app to my 6G iPod Touch where it always crashed. The iPad version is stable. Both of my devices are running on iOS 12.2.
Anythingmac,
Good, clean, beautiful, indie, quintessential iOS development
What more is there to say?
It also does not track its users.
Snell98,
DOWNLOAD THIS APP NOW
By far one of my favorite apps I’ve used for my school work! I don’t think I would have passed without it.
emilsuabs,
love, love, LOVE!!!
this app is a godsend. it helps me soooo much with school. bless this creator, i love you and this app!!! maybe i will actually pass my exam!!! 😄
oneneonaeon,
Great app...
I enjoy learning and teaching with this app. There’s been quite a few awesome upgrades but as a early adapter I’m bummed it’s a subscription model at least for someone who stuck with it... 👎

Anyway enjoy.
Monoseanism,
Crashes
Just downloaded the app today on my iPhone 10S max running the latest Apple software. It crashes on everything, no matter what you tap it crashes immediately.
