Amazing App to Study With! Only 1 suggestion
I love this app and have honestly absorbed information better from this app then I did in school or just from reading the Milady book, but that’s also just how I learn. I haven’t taken my test yet (I’m in CA fyi), but have heard from others that have used this app and taken the test that it is very similar to the real exam, even down to the wording (I don’t know how similar it is to other states though). My only suggestion is that when you reset the tests, the questions and order of the answers should be rearranged. This would help me (and I’m sure others) feel like I’m actually learning and know the answers instead of it just being muscle memory. Sometimes it feels like I only got the question right because I remembered where the answer was from the last time I took it. But that is my only suggestion and it’s definitely worth the $10

Top choice for esthetician exam prep!
In addition to my standard Milady textbook, forget to study it at your own peril, I considered all the extra study options I could find because I was determined to pass the written exam even with my memory issues.
Because you will receive a random test which can be one of many versions the testing centers use, I wanted to be as thoroughly prepared as possible.
I tried a few other apps that were just ok, then discovered Esthetician Exam Center. EEC delivered the most realistic, comprehensive and current testing info available, cross platform.
I read that the highly experienced esthetician who created the app is also an educator who worked for “Milady”, the publisher of the Standard Esthetic and Cosmetology textbooks.
If you’re serious, get the $9.99 unlimited version and take as many of the exams as you have time for over and over. I did that and am certain that is what pushed my knowledge retention over the edge. This crew is dedicated. I asked a question of the app developer and had a response within an hour. On a Sunday. Hello and thank you.
The app is no frills, straightforward and easy to use anywhere...it was just what I needed to help me ace the real test in record time. So many thanks EEC!

I passed my exam!
This app is amazing! It’s well organized and splits each topic into its own folder and for the question you get wrong it saves them for you to go over later. I really loved this app and recommend this to anyone who’s taking there esthetician exam. I was worried it would be worded different then the real exam but it helped me memorize a lot of terms. I honestly learned so much more from this app then I ever did in beauty school. whoever created this app you’re amazing! If it wasn’t for this app I wouldn’t have been able to pass! I lost all access to my milady account so this was what I had to work with but it definitely helped me! Definitely get the $10 subscription so you don’t have to buy each test individually

Must-Have for Theory Exam Practice!!
If you are taking your aesthetics state board theory exam, this is a must have for practice exams. At first, I thought the questions and terminology were a little outdated, but I’m glad that they were because the state board theory exam questions were written the same way lol! I love that all of the chapters are listed, and also that it gives you an opportunity to retake the questions you got wrong in a separate exam. I passed my theory exam on the first try with a 92! I’ve been telling all of my classmates to download this app!

Disappointed
The positive- In general , I would use this app as a review guide for the absolute basics that may be on the test so I guess in that way it is kind of helpful as a light refresher. The app also runs very smooth without any complications so that’s a positive .
The negative - the questions are worded way to simple of a manor. I took the state board exam and it was far more complicated and worded in a way that was much more confusing .
There were many things on the exam pertaining to chemistry, anatomy, biology, and further much more in depth science questions. It would have been nicer to have more variety of questions to go over those sections in more in detail but it’s okay .
Also there are no questions that help you review the Appearance Enhancement - by the Department of State and there are approximately 10-15 questions on the actual exam that reference it so it would have been helpful to see that.
It would have been cool to been able to create your own quizzes through the app as well because as I previously stated it does run very smooth so it was a pleasure to use however it genuinely didn’t really help much in the actual preparation for the state board exam itself . I’d give the app a 1.5 but a 1 star is too low and I don’t think it was that bad .
Your better off reviewing the notes you have learned from school instead of using the app in my opinion .

Not Effective Study Tool
I’m confused why this app has so many good reviews. I will say that the layout and use of the app is good, however, the content is not. I live in Michigan and I have taken my theory exam I can tell you that maybe 15% of the content in this study app was on my exam. In my opinion it is not worth $9.99/ month. Maybe offer each test within this app for a one-time fee of .99 or a flat rate of 9.99 for all them but not monthly. The content is not that difficult to grasp (it’s way too simplified and most of it is just common sense) and there is not nearly enough content to constitute a $9.99/ month charge OR to fully prepare one for their theory. My advise, study your fundamentals book or look for free quizzes on quizlet or Kahoot! They’ll prepare you just as well, if not better, than this app. Yes, I did pass my theory but I feel it’s because I studied my fundamentals book the night before.

It’s good, but could be updated
So I literally just took my exam an hour ago and boooyyy... First, let me start by saying, I’m in the state of North Carolina. I feel like more reviews to be sure to mention the state, because it matters. I studied this app, day and night. I have the premium version with all the tests. I took each one several times to the point where I started to Ace them all. I had the material down and was convinced id not just pass, but pass with flying colors. WRONG.
I passed, but barely. About 5 questions into the exam I started to get anxiety because none of the questions were any from the test. In fact, all in all, only about 5-6 questions were questions that I studied using this app. I almost began to panic.
HOWEVER, while my actual exam was so far off from the app, there were still things I recognized as a result of using this app almost everyday. I mean, I had prepared for the questions to be reworded, but it was almost like another exam altogether.
I’m keeping the app to help with improving my knowledge in the treatment room, but if you’re solely wanting to study, as sucky as it may be, just study the Milady Book and Workbook.

I know this app helped (just get all the exams for the $9.99- completely worth it), but I couldn’t say how much. The test I took today was worded so differently and used such different language from the questions in this app. However, to be fair, it was incredibly different from Milady too. So frustrating.
I did see one answer to a question on the app that was completely wrong and even the description of the answer was wrong so if you see something that isn’t right look it up and trust yourself. Even Milady’s text and work books have mistakes.
Overall I’m glad I got this app to supplement studying my midterm and final.

Good app to study with
I’m not going to lie, I was kind of skeptical about using this app because I thought I wasn’t going to pass my esthetics exam. I recently been using the app for 2-3 weeks prior to my exam date. I PASSED MY ESTHETICS STATE BOARD EXAM!! Despite me graduating from the Esthetician program almost a year ago. This app has helped me study so much for the exam. All I needed was a refresher on what I learned in school. I knew most of the answer and I like how it shows you what answers you got wrong. It also gives you the answer with the description. The spelling of some Q&A of this app is a little off but as long as you understand it , It doesn’t matter. This is a good app to use to study for your exam. I recommend this app.

I love this app. Before purchasing I didn’t feel confident to take my state board test, and honestly I was suspicious of the app in general, but when I purchased the monthly subscription I was glad. I’ve learned a lot, and I appreciate the test and the explanations. I do wish the app would update and circulate the questions, or add more, because after so long of going over the same 10 or so tests I’d like to be challenged Just a tad more. Overall, though, this is the best thing I’ve purchased to help me study for the Texas State Board Exam. 10/10 would recommend.
