Very good idea, and easy to follow app! I love that it will even tell you if your child is in each class on time! Fortunately my child doesn’t skip class like his mommy did, but he won’t be able to with this app!! It also gets all the info needed to parents in a timely manner rather than the last minute relay I’m used to getting from my son, not to mention whether or not his work is getting done and turned in Thank you for this!

Unfortunately this app has a ton of usability problems. See the list below: -the private messaging feature is very buggy and laggy. -the picture quality of uploads/attachments is very poor. -saved pictures are not saved properly and unsharable from the photos app -if you have two parents on a group chat, you cannot send a new chat individually to a teacher. -you cannot update your phone number in the app if the school controls it. If you do, it creates a new account and you lose access to the old message history. And as for features, it’s barebones: -No dark mode -no Home Screen -no Lock Screen widget -no time sensitive notification support -no video attachment support -no video conferencing -etc… So, to the developer, these are useful iOS features and updates, and I hope to see improvements coming soon… but for now, it’s a long way up to 5 stars from here. Expect more from an app like this!

Update #2: Thank you for the response, but: Too little, too late. This is May daughter’s last year in school and I will celebrate by deleting the app.

I am sorry, but this is billed as a communication app, and it fails miserably at that. I go back to my original complaint! The communication from teacher to parents is OK. But there is no communication from parents to teacher. ONLY parent to teacher works.

As a programmer myself I would not have released an app with such a glaring hole.

Update: no response from the developers! I wish the app would just die!!! I use this app not because I think it is good in any sense. Nor does it provide any features that a plain old text message cannot provide! I use it because my daughter’s teacher uses it and it is the only way to communicate with the teacher. My complaints: 1) When I get a message from the teacher I have no way to know if it was sent to just me or to a group of people. 2) There is no way for me to send a message to the teacher and my daughter’s mother. These two “features” lead to miscommunication and confusion. I am sure that an app supposedly built to foster communication does not want to hear those complaints but they are real. I would not use the app if I had any other option for communicating with my daughter’s teacher.

This app does not, and will not work on my phone. I’ve tried several times to uninstall, reinstall, turn my phone on and off, update the app and still NOTHING will work. I sat on the chat for over 4 hours to get help from online support and they were no help. I’ve sent a request for assistance, no reply back. I’m not understanding. I get notifications from the app that I am receiving new messages, but I can never check them because every time I click on the app, I get an error message that reads “so sorry…either our system is under going maintenance or an error occurred. Please try again later or contact support.” I’ve tried been trying since February of this year, and like I said, I’ve contacted support and have received zero support. Where do we go from here? It would be nice to actually be able to read the announcements and messages from the school faculty.

I really appreciate this app, it seems to be a quick and functional way to chat with my child’s teachers, and receive announcements from administrators. It’s easy to use on multiple devices - iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch. My only issue with it is that often I’ll get a notification on my phone that I have a message from a teacher, and when I click on the notification the app will open and tell me that something’s wrong and I won’t be able to see the message. I then force quit the app and open it again, and then I’m able to see the message. But something funky is going on there.

I get information about what is going on with my child right away! I can at least try right then to remedy the issue or problems my child is having ,when I’m notified about them! Especially now, through this pandemic and distance learning situation! Thank you to all the teachers and staff who utilize it! Again, I wish more would!!!!

My son’s school recommended this app. It’s easy to set up and it located the correct class by my phone #. The issue I had for the first few weeks was that I wasn’t getting any notifications. Which was frustrating as I would miss what messages my son’s teacher sent out. I finally decided to reach out to support. They were great. They resolved the issue same day. The next morning my notifications worked perfectly.

Great way to communicate but I don’t care for a heart to my kids’ teachers when I like their post…especially to the opposite sex…it feels creepy. Can you change it to a thumbs up or a happy face or something less love-like? Maybe an apple or a star or something associated with teachers? That is the only reason I would take away a star. I started using this app this year with my daughters middle school. I do like it however, I am a blind, iPhone user. I use a screen reader that is built into the iPhone. When I go to send a message, the send button is not labeled so the screen reader reads it. I have to guess where the button is, and it gets very frustrating when I don’t send a message correctly. Please fix this. Other than that, I do love the fact that I can talk back-and-forth to teachers during class time.

This is my 1st year using TalkingPoints and I have had zero issues. I really like being able to contact my children’s teachers without having to search for their email and hope that I actually have it. It has also made it nice to be able to have all the communication saved and in one spot to be able to go back and reference.
