It’s 2021, so we added 21 new features! This is Find’s biggest update yet.
1. Redesigned navigation - instead of a weird floating button, you now get a nice, clean tab bar.
2. Photos, Camera, and Lists each get their own tab - and you can swipe between them.
3. Complete user interface overhaul.

This time, we mainly focused on improving Photos.
4. Syncing - Photos is now linked to the built-in Photos app on your phone. This means that you can find from all your existing photos, and not just the ones saved from Find.
5. Filters - we added a slider where you can switch between the different types of photos, which are:
• Local - photos saved from Find
• Starred - photos that you’ve starred (do this for the ones that you view the most)
• Cached - cached photos, which churn out results instantly when you find from them
• All - all your photos
6. Refreshed gallery view - photos are now grouped by month instead of day, and displayed in a 4 column layout to take advantage of all available space
7. Resumable finding - you can now switch between the gallery view and the finding sheet without losing your place.
8. Cleaner finding - we polished up all the little shadows and corner radiuses... but also rethought the interaction, so everything is much easier to use.
9. Universal icons - photos will now have the Star or Cache icon everywhere, whether that’s in the gallery view, or the finding sheet.
10. Info sheet - shows the date taken and origin of a photo. Also, for cached photos, you can now copy their transcripts.

There’s even more, but let’s get to Camera.
11. Cleaner layout - gone are the popup and rings from 1.1. Now, the shutter button springs out from the tab bar, supported by 2 buttons at the corners. That animation took quite a while to make!
12. Shutter - we made a bunch of improvements here. Back in 1.1, all it did was take photos. But we realized that people would rather pause the preview, so that’s what it does now.
13. But that’s not all. When you pause the preview, the tab bar is replaced with the Save and Cache buttons.
14. Press Save to take a photo and save it to the photo library (we actually didn’t remove this feature!)
15. You can now also cache directly in the paused preview, getting you faster and more accurate results.

We redesigned Settings too!
16. More modern interface - redesigned to contrast beautifully with the camera, it now has an awesome dark theme.
17. More settings - we added levels for haptic feedback, so you aren’t stuck with just ON or OFF. There’s now also an option to turn off “Swipe to Navigate” if you don’t want to swipe between tabs.
18. Better help center - we’re now using SupportDocs, which is an open-source project of ours.

And finally, Lists.
19. We brought the design refresh to Lists, too - you’ll get more vivid colors and a more fluid experience.
20. The icon gallery view now has 8 columns, making it easier to pick the one you want. We’ve also made the header sticky, so you always know which category you’re browsing.
21. Code-level improvements - Lists in the previous version had a lot of redundant code. We’ve optimized it for a faster and more efficient program.

Well, that’s pretty much all! And Find is still completely free with no ads, even almost a year later. Enjoy, and keep the reviews coming!
1.2.5
2021-03-07

• Camera freezes after coming back from the App Switcher

Millermk,
Seems like a powerful and well-made app!
Seems like a powerful and well-made app! I am still exploring the features that are offered in this app, and have just started scanning some of my many thousands of images. But this app seems to offer some features that Apple is leaving out for some reason. Definitely download and check out.

To the developer:
Could you add an option for the file type Tif? I wanted to make a smart album for any images that are tiffs but it currently doesn’t have that one. Thanks!
trikayaker,
Fourth update on crashing latest version
Well, it used to be a great app, but this newest update will not run on iOS 16.0.2 (iPhone 11). The app crashes instantly and won’t open. I tried deleting and reinstalling with the same result. Update: The developer promised an update/fix would be available this week. The update (v3.0.1) still crashes instantly on open. I’m still hoping it will be fixed. It used to be a really useful app. Update 2: Developer says he’s on it again and working on fix and has restored access to a previously working version. I’m adding two more stars to my review for an app that doesn’t even work yet simply because the dev is really responsive. Once the app even works again, I’ll add more stars. Update 3. The latest update (v3.0.2) is still instacrashing on iPhone 11 (iOS 16.1.1) and thus I’m giving up on it and downgrading my rating to 1 star again. I’d give it less if I could since the app just won’t work. Never has.
Update 4. I'm starting to feel like Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football. Like a sucker, I fell for the promise of 3.04 fixing the crash and tried reinstalling the latest update. If anything, it just crashes faster on iOS 16.1.1. It's working ok on iPadOS.
Penguin.....,
Fantastic IRL Ctrl+F
This app does a surprisingly good job at searching text that you point your phone at. Being able to search through your photos and not saving any data from the app is just the icing on the cake. Can’t wait to see what’s in store! (If you ever set up a system to donate I’m sure a lot of people would love to show their appreciation)
ThrillerMan82,
A flawed jem
I really like this app, though there are a few issues that make using it a tad cumbersome. There’s no double-tap to zoom, which is a must for photo apps like this. But more annoyingly, there are issues with the text scanning. It constantly froze, mostly on anime pics. I had to manually skip or ignore dozens of photos in order for it to properly finish the process.

If that can be fixed and tap-to-zoom is implemented, this would be my go-to!
Ilyumzhinov,
Searching text in images works on iPhone 7
It turns out searching text in images is possible on iPhone 7 and implemented incredibly well in this app!

Wish the app shifted focus to that instead of finding text in camera. Otherwise, superb quality app!
Iceh0t,
Great for Students
Heard about this app on reddit, super easy to install and use without asking for any unnecessary permissions like 90% of apps do now a days.

Works as intended, which is also better than 90% of apps.

If you still have to use non-digital textbooks, this is almost a must have, 10/10.
Blinky_X,
Works With Voice Over
I’m a blind, VoiceOver user who was a beta tester for this app. Initially, many of the buttons were either inaccessible or unlabeled. After contacting the Developer to inform him/her of the problem, they were quick to resolve it. If only other Developers could be as thoughtful.
steverngallo,
Amazing!
Really impressive, every screen/page I threw at it worked quickly and was able to find every word I fed it. The user experience is so streamlined, I was up and running in seconds. This app is one of the few that works as advertised and is very easy to setup.
David A Koontz,
Wow a beautiful experience
Wow a beautiful experience and fast way to find the perfect image to illustrate your next tweet. Once the scanning is done (it takes some time for large photo libraries) the finding is great. And now Find searches for objects lik my “Dog” or “jacket” or words on a menu. Awesome!
raulminajj,
Found on Reddit, never knew I needed this
Thank you for posting to r/AppClips I never would’ve thought to go out and look for something like this, but now that I have it, I will never look back
