Sonar technology the size of a tennis ball
Just because you don’t have a boat, doesn’t mean you can’t fish like the pros. FishHunter is pocket-sized technology that floats on the surface of the water and sends Sonar view via the FishHunter app. It tracks bottom depth, water temperature, fish location and lures to help you find and catch more fish. Even if you have conventional sonar technology, FishHunter gives you access to shallow and vegetative areas you could not reach by boat.

XxChino13xX,
Seems like an okay app
*I’m using this app teamed up with the Fish Hunter 3D on a iPhone XS Max*

The app seems alright all and all, but I’ve come across a few things which I’m sure others have probably previously pointed out as well. The first one is, if you have ‘Dark Mode’ enabled on your phone, you can’t see text in certain parts of the app. You have to switch back to the regular setting, in order to see information...that’s kind of annoying. The second thing, it doesn’t fill/fit the screen properly. These larger screened iPhones and other devices have been out for years not. Not sure why the dimensions/resolution hasn’t been adjusted to any fit each screen individually. Otherwise, it’s a pretty handy app.

I received the unit and it came very well packaged. Everything was included including the charger hand strap lanyard and bag.
I charged it up as a suggested added the app to my iPhone 8 and in no time got a chance to test it in my pond on my property. I was very interested to see what the depth was since we had it dug and I know that there was some cave in the unit surprisingly gave me a very nice 3-D picture of what I had and the sonar showed me detail of all the different fish that I know that I have stocked in the pond I was very impressed with the unit. you can throw out into any pond or lake that you didn’t know much about and get a picture perfect image of the fish that maybe dwelling in it as well as structure. Living in Florida I don’t have a chance to ice fish any longer but I have done a lot of that in the past and I truly believe this will be a great addition to any ice fishermen choosing to use it this coming winter. Still experimenting with really enjoying it well worth the money
citori525,
Sonar is fine but the app is awful
No complaints against the actual fish hunter 3D, my gripe is with the app. It never fails to freeze when trying to add a pin on location. Actually the one time it didn’t freeze after trying 3 times, the process felt so cumbersome that it made me forget all about it. It’s not like you can easily view those pins while using your sonar anyways. Making a bathymetric map is cool, but only if you can remember which map you did. There’s no way to name them. What’s the point of maps without names? The most frustrating part though is that the app doesn’t let you view just plain and simple full screen raw sonar data. You have to share half a screen with other information that in most cases is worthless. Yes, the instruction manual for the fish hunter show a button on the top pull down menu when in 3D fishing to view full screen raw. That’s no where to be found on this version of the app. Fix that and I’d bump it up a few stars. Fix all the problems listed and the app would be solid.
j.rodrig,
It Works! iPhone XS iOS 14.4
Turn off “WiFi Assist” at the “Cellular “ tab. I also turned off all the wifi calling options, just in case. Open the app and go the the sonar selection screen. Turn off cellular network when starting the sonar by going to your “cellular” tab in settings. Once the sonar is giving you the mapping, you can turn on back the Lte or 4g.
To make an account, just hit submit on each field (blank box) and it will tell you what you need to insert on that blank.

Hope it works!

PD: I have an old iPad 2 with iOS 9 and it works great. In fact, you can see all the fields on the account creation page.
I am having ocasional disconnects when I turn my LTE and the screen is to small. Better off with my old iPad.
adventure_jenn,
So easy to use!
I do a lot of bank fishing and now with the FishHunter app, I have the advantage over the other guys down the bank. I just downloaded the app, the FishHunter connected, I tossed it out in front of me and I could see everything! The fish, the snag I kept hitting, everything! I made my adjustments and caught the fish, much to the chagrin of the other guys who didn’t catch anything - lol. I didn’t have any of the issues mentioned in older reviews, whatever Navico did in the upgrade worked beautifully.
Sevarai,
So far... not good.
Just bought Fish Hunter 3D and before I can even use it I have to sign up for an account. That’s fine, except I can’t see any of the field info and I have no idea what to put in. I get a white screen with blank lines on iPhone 11. Will update if I can actually start using this.

Edit: Got it working by changing from dark mode to light mode. The aspect ratio hasn’t been adjusted for larger iPhones though. That’s disappointing and a bit amateurish. Hopefully it will be improved. Phones with larger screens aren’t exactly new.

When taking a profile photo, once you’ve taken a photo there’s no way to cancel. You can either retake or submit.
Cajuntec,
Worked great!
Excellent App. I didn’t have any issues setting up my account on both my iPad and iPhone. I tested my FishHunter Pro with my iPhone this weekend and it worked great. When I opened the App, I got a reminder to connect to the FishHunter WiFi and when I checked, FishHunter was already available to connect. Connected and was seeing sonar displays on my iPhone seconds later. Nice picture. A slow, steady retrieve worked very well.
Puht Puht,
Hardware works great Software not so much
I’m writing this review to get a response from the developers of the app because their no one manning the support email. I’ve emailed several times because of problems I am having with this app. My fish hunter is working superbly but the app is not responding correctly causing me to have to delete and reinstall the app constantly. Which is highly annoying, couple that with no response from the so called support team is just ridiculous. I’m sending a complaint to Lowrance as well, hopefully they can find a better developer for their software.
cyber fish,
For big fish too
I found a very unique use for this unit. I sucker fish for musky and at times drift fish. I tether the unit to one rod and it floats in the same area as my sucker so regardless of boat position I have a handle on the structure where my sucker is at.
I did need to update my phone iOS but then the connection was quick and easy. A cool and useful tool.
I was surprised at the stability of the unit, even with significant wave activity.
patrickfromomaha,
Great Tool!
Worked right out of the box!!!
I open it up, charged the unit while reading the instructions and downloading the app. Once it was charged I was able to use it right off the dock!!! I can’t wait to try it in an ice hole!!!
This is the best portable I have ever used, all others were like toys but this is truly a professional piece of equipment.
Home Run Lowrance, thanks!!!
