Oscar Newport,
It does one thing, and it does it well.
Since it handles repeating tasks and doesn't venture into projects, checklists, tagging, categories, or any of the other things that most todo apps are cluttered with, this app works very well and is actually very pleasant to use.

It turns out that when you give all of your habit-like tasks their own app and you pull them all out of your main todo app, you end up with a solution that works better for both kinds of tasks.
cldcldcldcld,
My new favorite habit tracker
I love that there is an org-mode based habit tracker! It's great to have such control over your data.

This app is very simple. It does thing and one thing well. I love that there is no crud.

EDIT: it looks like you can now skip a day. This pretty much solves my issue with setting frequency described below.

My only issue is that you cannot specify you wanna do a habit more than once a day or once a week. For example, I wanna lift weights 4x per week, not daily, not weekly. I wanna run 6x per week. You can adjust the cadence and run, say every 2 days. But you can't adjust frequency. Frequency is stuck at 1.

I would say this app is nearly perfect. Cheers to the developer! 🍻
mylene_h,
It works!
I love the simplicity of the app but most importantly it works. I’ve already created 4 new habits (including a difficult “get up, no surfing/scrolling in bed”) and it’s already had a positive impact on my life. I loved the books Atomic Habits and Tiny Habits and it’s great to find an app that helps me put that into practice. Thanks!
craigoej,
Limited functionality
The import in place feature, labeled as experimental for a few months, has been non-functional and unfortunately limits the uses of the app. What's the point of using a common format for the data (org) if theres no convenient method to integrate it with other data in the same format.

ie I have a folder of org files, and the org file for this app cannot reside in place with them. Might as well just use any other habit tracker
cacology,
Fabulous tool with a pure soul
With so many habit-building tools available, this one recommends itself with its shameless simplicity, lack of spyware, absent advertisements, and pure core of a underlying Free format. You don’t need to know it runs org-mode files behind the scene, but if you know what those are it will make you happy.
kfring,
Awesome project!
Requires a little rethinking of how I currently have my org files setup, but this project shows HUGE promise.

If it was able to work with Apples Reminders like BeOrg (lots of room to do that better) I could switch to using this exclusively as I think the interface holds much more promise.
ryzarch,
Simple and beautiful
I really like the idea of having my habits separated from tasks/todos (see plainorg by the same dev). This app just does that and has a historical view with the calendar along with streak and commitment metrics which is a nice touch. It’s a simple, intuitive, and beautiful looking app.
azoeart,
Simple, text file based 💜
I love the simple, no bells, no whistles interface. Marking a habit as done is easier than skipping it, as it should be. Because it uses a text file I can use Scriptable or Pyto to create my own widgets. Thank you!
Bronzehedwick,
Focused and excellent
I use this every day and I works really well. Focusing on a small subset of orgmode functionality for mobile is perfect, since it lets the app avoid clutter and give you what you’d want in this form factor anyway.
Malaclyps,
Great as a standalone habit system, brilliant with org-mode
I use Flat Habits in sync with BeOrg, another great app, and Mobius Sync (a syncthing client for iOS) to keep my habits and notes synchronised with my desktop emacs org files. If you understood half of that, I think you’ll really like Flat Habits!
