What a find!
I was listening to Modine on a podcast and he mentioned this app. So glad I remembered long enough to track it down. Worth five times the price. I absorbed it in one very long sitting. Now I have to find time to rewatch the film. Well done Matthew!

A must for any Modine AND Kubrick fan!
I distinctly recall seeing FMJ in its original run, and it was my first Kubrick in-theater moviegoing experience. Experiencing Matthew’s journey through the making of Kubrick’s last masterpiece (I cannot count Eyes Wide Shut) is a work of multimedia art in its own right.

The full story on Full Metal Jacket
Contemporary technological wizardry has done for a great film what previous print media books had attempted to do for such classics as Lawrence of Arabia, The Godfather, and Jaws. And that is to retell the detailed story of the "making" of a great film in all its detail. Matthew Modine's nuanced vocal narration of his own personal diary, along with a vast collection of his photographs taken during production, provide movie fans with the fullness of the movie-making experience. Accompanying sound effects and loads of peripheral information and external links give the app user the full picture...and everything available at your fingertips. In addition to what producer Adam Rackoff has created for this film is the promise of what this technology will be able to do for other great films as his methods are applied on into the future. It is a feast for the movie fan and a harbinger of what is yet to come.

Not Just for Movie Fans!
When first learning of the making of this APP, I thought it would really be for a niche audience of either Stanley Kubrick, the movie itself, or Matthew Modine, or all three. I am so pleased with this app, for it has more universal appeal. First, it is a well written and entertaining diary about the life of a family living in another country while making this great movie. Second, this app provides insight into the movie making process even for the casual movie viewer. As a frequent APP user, I found this one to be multi-dimensional with many layers of information and stunning visual design. It's truly a new way to experience an APP. The next level of richness in APP design.

This is an amazing interactive app for the iPad and something Kubrick would indeed really love. Great use of audio and visual to recount the production of one of the greatest war movies of all time. If you have an AppleTV, this one works incredibly well, too, with the mirroring function. It's basically one of the best, personal documentaries about the making of a classic film. Seen on an HD TV and using your iPad as a remote, this app provides hours and hours of insight on Full Metal Jacket with the best narrator possible. Highly recommended for cinema buffs, fans of Matthew Modine, Stanley Kubrick, Full Metal Jacket and anyone who's ready for a great interactive multimedia experience.

Beautiful B&W Imagery from Matthew Modine
I grew up admiring FULL METAL JACKET, I think it's one of Stanley Kubrick's best movies. I even drew a copy of the "Born To Kill" helmet artwork in high school art class.
Matthew Modine's images in this app are brilliant in B&W. When I heard about this on Kickstarter, I loved the idea and am thankful Mr. Modine captured these rare images of the production - it's imagery only a lead actor like Modine could capture - keep in mind, Kubrick was elusive and didn't like to be photographed.
Later, when I got to see the Stanley Kubrick exhibit at LACMA, with some of Modine's images in large scale print, it all came full circle of my appreciation of Kubrick's mastery on this production.
Matthew Modine's images in this app are brilliant in B&W. It is very encouraging to see that someone is looking for new and powerful ways to expand their storytelling methods in the App realm. Matthew Modine and Adam Rackoff have accomplished this important feat by layering deep material in warm sincerity and giving us an extended Full Metal Jacket experience. Being a fan of Stanley,Matthew and FMJ and having bought at least 50 copies of Matthews amazing book Full Metal Jacket Diary this is an incredible app because you are getting the book with all the pictures, and you get to hear Matthew Modine reading it!
You can also order some of the great pictures that Matthew himself took with his twin lens Rolliflex (a film camera).
I could not recc. this app highly enough, it covers all the bases.
