Description

Pocket Gamer: Game of the Week "You'll rue the day you missed this one."

Kotaku "There's something comforting about the cold and dreary future of Wadjet Eye Games' Gemini Rue, the pixelated PC masterpiece now available on iOS."

Joystiq "Being able to play such a well-crafted interactive story on the go was an attractive option for me from the beginning, and Gemini Rue proves to be a great example of how the adventure genre can be adapted to a mobile platform. "

MacLife "If you like unspooling a good sci-fi detective story, Gemini Rue is well worth the investment. 4/5"

Edge Online "Gemini Rue is an accomplished homage that rivals the very titles that influenced it. 8/10"

Washington Times "It’s an old school masterpiece, requiring hours of game play that stimulates the brain rather than trigger finger."

App Spy "This is an excellent port of an excellent adventure. 4/5"

DESCRIPTION

A sci-fi noir adventure in the tradition of "Blade Runner" and "Beneath a Steel Sky."

Azriel Odin, ex-assassin, arrives on the rain-drenched planet of Barracus. When things go horribly wrong, he can only seek help from the very criminals he used to work for.

Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a man called Delta-Six wakes up in a hospital with no memory. Without knowing where to turn or who to trust, he vows to escape before he loses his identity completely.

As fate brings these two closer together, we discover a world where life is cheap, identities are bought and sold, and a quest for redemption can change the fate of a whole galaxy.

sarasarasarAAA,
Awesome game so far but,
So I love the graphics and attention to detail in the locations. The voices can be a bit strange though and what removes a star is that there are small black bars on the edges of the screen when I play the game on my iPhone 6 Plus just as a heads-up. I like the game so far, the setting and characters appear interesting. I'm not very far into the game but although I've had issues knowing what to do at first, it's a neat game worth a shot. The developer worked hard on this game and it shows. It could just use minor improvements in a future update to get rid of the black bars (optimize for larger phones), and fix any bugs it may have.
DelleeComeOn,
Unexpected
I really had no idea what to expect, I bought the game based on it supposedly being a good sci-fi adventure. Well, thank you for the recommendation, it was just that! What an unexpected surprise, something that actually fit the reviews and suggestions!
Clearly, I personally loved the game, but if you're not sure whether or not to get it, here's a brief description... It starts off with no explanation of anything, which is great because that's the whole point of the game, figuring out the story as it goes along. It was like playing a movie that you are watching at the same time. But just so you know, it's a pixelated game, I guess it was an older game converted to iOS. But I personally like this look... just realistic enough without looking weird. And the motions usually take more than one action to do tasks, which can occasionally get tedious when you're just opening doors, but that's really not an issue when that is how you problem-solve situations and literally figure the game out.
Overall, really cool game with a great story. And a nice touch hearing Giancarlo Esposito do one of the voice-overs! 😄
Update: Giancarlo is not credited for the game... But it sure sounds like him!

Blade Runner meets I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Pros:
-Amazing, engrossing story.
-Logical puzzles offer some challenge, but med difficulty keeps the action going.
-Top notch voice acting.
-Amazing art direction, an entire world is created even with limited locations.
-Gun battles expand what is expected of an action game. The ability to die ups the stakes.
-The ability to tap the screen to see active objects saves you from the old Action game trope of trying to pick up everything.

Cons:
-Having to open doors repeatedly with a keycard or optical scan became tiresome. We get it. Make it automatic after the first instance.

-Hyper linear. For a story with many potential twists and turns, it was a little disappointing not to find multiple endings. Dialogue would hint at different possible outcomes without delivering.

-Occasionally when another character is accompanying you they can trap you in a corner and you can't get out. Save your progress often so this doesn't happen.

Overall:
Amazing game that should be the beginning of a franchise. Play it. Great for Adventure Game addicts and newbies alike.
Richardf8,
Cumbersome game mechanics give too little reward for too much effort
I have gotten to the second scene of the Azriel Arc and completed the first scene of the Delta-6 Arc. And I am bored. I have not found a reason to care about either of the POV characters. It’s obvious that someone cared a whole lot more about ensuring that armed combat was as true to life as possible than they did about user experience. The result is that everything gunfight is a slogfest that demands attention and adds difficulty without giving a payoff in terms of plot advancement. I do not want to spend 5-10 minutes reloading a gun, and waiting for the right moment to fire just so that I can get to the next locked-room puzzle.

Normally I would wait until I have played through at least once before reviewing, but I just can’t see myself picking it back up again.
Thread three,
One of the Best Adventures Out There. Period.
The second you boot up the game and see the main menu, you know this is going to be good. The art and sound combine to create a dreariness that is simply amazing on a mobile platform. The mechanics are smooth and uncomplicated, the puzzles are tough yet not impossible without a walkthrough, and the story is incredible.

I know I'm late to the game on this one, but if you get the chance, this game is not one to miss. This is an experience you need to have.
happyslappykat,
Meh, it’s a decent adventure title
I love the world building here and just about all the scenes on barracus were fun, but the scenes in sector 7 (I think that’s what it was called) got old after a while. I get you are trying to make the user feel trapped like the character by making us walk through multiple doors, but sometimes it just felt downright tedious. I also think the game could have used a bit more humor and the ending was ok-ish —just felt kind of flat. I would play a sequel though. There were definitely some amazing things about the title. Blade runner ish and even some cowboy beebop flavor too, it just feels like it’s missing something.
Dr.Div,
Darn good adventure game!
One of the best adventure games I have ever played. There were times that I was stuck and would put away my phone and when I come back I would figure out what to do. I thought it wasn't that difficult but not that easy either. If you've got common sense and have played these kind of games before it'll be a treat. Excellent story with a nice twist and great voice acting.
Ncadmin,
A Big Bang for your buck
This game has everything an adventure gamer could want. Dystopian game theme. Great puzzles. Awesome voiceovers that lend to the concept of the game. Everything fits in, the music, screen movements, and backgrounds and the way it play. If this game came out in the 90’s, it would have cost $60. This is a steal for al the game play and great storyline. Played and auto saved perfectly on my iPhone 6s. Kudos to the developer.
LC229,
Amazing!
I was unsure of buying this game based on the look of it, but after playing and beating it I wish I had bought it sooner. The story is amazing! It's like being part of a great movie. Definitely worth it! Some parts are a little tricky and I had to look them up but still worth 5 stars!
Lingrush24,
Not for me
I love Wadjet Eye Games, especially the Blackwell series. This is another high-quality title, but I just couldn’t finish it. Interacting with the world is needlessly tedious... why do I have to use my eyes on the scanner every single time I open a door? The action scenes tried to be innovative, but to me they feel out of place in an adventure game. And the story moves slowly and doesn’t keep me in suspense. I can see why other people would like this game, but it’s not for me. I’d recommend playing Blackwell first.
