Very good app, a couple shortcomings
I really like how this app has helped me learn, especially via the "write in" method!
Some thoughts:
1. The write in method should not accept non-umlaut characters when the word is spelled with them. For example, the app considers "fur" as a correct answer, when "für" is actually correct.
2. The chime played for correct answers is always at maximum volume.
3. I must learn specific German words for my courses. If this app allowed me to create/upload your own flashcard data, i would gladly pay twice the price of the Vocab & Phrases apps!

Ok, but some spelling/grammar errors
This app is alright and helpful with the audio, but I have come across a few mistakes. A couple words are mispelled and there are grammar errors too.
Of course this is common sense but if you are really into learning the language, just make sure you have other reliable sources.
But this is still a fun app to refresh some vocabulary if you are familiar with the language.

Designed for easy learning!
Besides being free, this app makes it easy to learn or brush up on your German vocabulary. The different sections of the app make it fun so you don't get bored with one type of memory challenge, and the flash card section with audio also helps with pronunciation as well as memory. I would purchase an app from this developer as it seems they understand the needs of the student.

Great App
This is a great way to learn ... lot's of variety and fun to use instead of boring lessons. Uses different types of quizes that are a lot like games and keeps score for you. The multiple choice quiz is often very easy to guess but the write in quiz is difficult and really tests your knowledge. The puzzle quiz is fun to use and somewhere in between in terms of difficulty.
Also, great audio by a young German woman with a very nice sounding voice.

Great app!
Very helpful app. Chech out the priority settings right away. I did not use it until i purchased the German tutor 101 and it helps even more. Forces you to work on the words that the more attention. I would love to see the addition of all vocabulary words used in sentences. It would put the vocabulary to better use. Please add :)

Very unimpressed
Horrible app. I got it as a refresher, and there are a lot of flaws. First, it directly translates English to German. If you say "I'm sorry" the way the app does, germans will think whatever happened acctually makes you sad. Also, Germans don't say "Ich mag ___" (I like ___) they say "___ glaubt mich" (___ pleases me). Last, it is just random vocabulary, that you don't know how to use. "Ich adfahren gestern" is not how you would say I arrived yesterday, it is "Ich bin gestern abgefahren," but since there is no actual teaching in this app, nobody would know that. I've only taken a year of German and I saw this in 5 minutes.

Awesome App.
Easy to learn, and user friendly. Only things I want is the option to choose the type of voice that says the words, as it would help you pronuonce them better. (If ur a girl, it would probably be better hearing the words spoken by a girl with a soft voice, and vice versa.) Also, more words plz.

Be sure of the facts
Brilliant Brunette should not be so quick to criticize. First, Germans especially younger people do say "Ich mag ..." such as "Ich mag Eis." (I like ice cream.). "Eis gefaelt mir" is more formal, but as my German exchange student told me, none of her friends ( probably not even her parents) would use the formal version. Also note it is "defaelt" not "glaubt", which means believe.

When you open this app unicorns should just jump out, it doesn't ask for an email or Facebook, it doesn't need wifi, it's really easy to use and it's got a lot of stuff to do. Thank you we home schoolers needed something!!!

Simple quizzes with audio, photos, multiple choice, and write-in answers. Not a stand-alone source for language learning, but a nice option to add variety. Love the "Speak and Compare" function!
