Best Game for Travels/Waiting for a Lecture
This game is perfect for anyone who is traveling long distances. The leveling is hard enough to get you an amazing feel of challenge but at the same time not give you a sense of frustration. This game is what most other games fail to accomplish: a perfect balance. The hidden weapons and trinkets are hard enough to take you some time to find them but not placed in an impossible place. I only ever had to look up at ONE hidden trinket. I chose a balanced set for my skills. Meaning that I wasn’t putting ALL or most of my skill points on attack or health. Even with that I still was progressing normally and with a healthy amount of difficulty. All of the bosses had fair attacks and phases to the point that if you died it was more of bad planning on your part than bad/faulty programming. The best part of this game though, is that it never forces you to continue on the main storyline. You always have the option to spend hours leveling up or looking for hidden stuff as you try to 100% the game. All of that makes for one hell of a game for traveling or waiting for a class to start, as you will be spending hours piecing together the lore, or just leveling up until you are one-hit killing bosses. Definitely a must have game on any phone!
sensikid,
Castlevania IOS?
I hate writing reviews but I’m so impressed with this release that I feel it’s my duty as an avid gamer to do so.....sooooo here it goes-if the castlevania/Metroid genre ( admittedly more the first than the latter) had a baby with a fine tuned rpg, then ud have this game. Everything-literally,graphics,gameplay,story,overall execution, etc are done near flawlessly, 5 star all the way, if u,like myself have wished for a castlevania release on IOS,well then like myself ur gonna have to keep on waiting......BUT if ur down with the next best and in some respects better thing then
GET THIS GAME....u will not regret it

Post edit:
had the game for a few days now and all I can say over and over and over is WOW just simply WOW....I from the bottoms of my heart wish u guys win some kind of game of the year award....it would take me multiples of multiples of paragraphs to do this game justice......This game is 100% worth double the asking price.....and this last bit is real talk-just to the devs: PLEASE keep making games, please,Grimvalor is an example of everything IOS gaming can and should b,u kno what I’m talking about and from one fan of tru gaming to a a group of who I can only assume is made up of the same-congrats-this game will go down as one of the best on this platform

Decent Castlevania style of game for IOS
First let me start by saying that the 2D and 2.5D Castlevania games are my favorite games and have been for over 25 years! With that being said, this is not a Castlevania game, but it in the same style of a Castlevania game, closest I’ve seen yet on IOS. The graphics are great, the sound experience and music fits the game really well, and the controls, once you get used to them, actually work rather well. It took me a little to master (or try to master) the controls, especially some of the special moves, but lots of practice and I actually like the control system. Of course, I’d rather play with a controller and always will prefer a controller. The gameplay is fun, challenging yet not too difficult as in the early Castlevania games, the save points are strategically placed, and I really enjoyed the story! One of the best action platformers with RPG elements that I’ve played on IOS and I’ve been playing IOS games for over 8 years now. I look forward to this company’s next game, and would ask for some possible DLC such as new levels/areas and perhaps stronger weapons. Excellent game for the money, highly recommend!
魔法女仆馒头卡,
Amazing castlevinia game
So before anything this game is soul like but not, the dodging are more forgiving, the combat is much faster paced without the stamina limit, and death will not drop your shards. However it does have a similar flask, level and check point system as soul like genre.
The combat is on point, it’s simple, but with enough options. I’m only at act two but I’m already very into it. The control is very smooth(which is very surprising for a button based phone game), especially compare game like MapleStoryM.... jump puzzles are challenging, I’ve done 2 so far and it takes me about 10 minutes each to figure it out(thanks god there are status”bonfire” near by the puzzles.

A note to the developers. I’m not that far into this game yet, but I wish when you are far enough the game, of at the end of each act enable teleport using status back to nexus(for the acts you’ve completed story wise). Because I’m going to be back tracking and hunting for those missing treasures at some point, and I would like to be able to go back to the nexus when I’m done with the map.
xenoffense,
Great Metroidvania Game!
The combat is fast and flashy. Air combos, juggles, guard break, dive kicks. Large variety of enemies. I played with a mifi controller(Razer) and it played like a dream. This game is NOT roguelike. It's not really that hard (at least with a controller). Not too easy either though. I died many many times. For level up stats, I went with pure DPS (savagery and mastery), only getting enough Focus to be able to equip all trinkets. This left me dying in just a few hits (one hit on some boss moves) and made it more interesting for me. With a bunch of new weapons and trinkets and harder enemies and boss battles, NG+ is well worth the second pass. Great music. As a composer, I think it would've been cool to have someone do an original score instead of drawing from music licensing banks, but this is probably a smaller developer and might not have been possible for some reason, monetary or otherwise. Nevertheless it's a great selection of music. Also I'm pretty sure no one reading this cares at all😁. Bottom line. 5/5🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Susein McSwayney,
Actual good game on mobile?
To get straight to the point, I’ve played hundreds of mobile games across various genres and this is probably the best one.

Does this mean that it’s for everyone? No, maybe not. Similar to Souls games, the story is pieced together from hidden text, easy-to-miss dialogue, and what you figure out yourself. If you want a narrative-heavy game, this might not be what you’re looking for.

However, while it’s pretty typical, if you like this kind of thing then this game is exactly what you’re looking for. I personally enjoy this type of narrative, it adds to the gameplay without weighing it down.

As for the gameplay, it’s beyond what I would expect from a mobile game. The controls are extremely responsive, everything feels clean. It plays just like Castlevania: lots of dashing. And frankly, it feels great.

Movement is wonderful, fights feel incredible. Control-wise, this game is well ahead of even most PC titles. I never feel like I’m being hindered by mobile controls, which is a feat in-and-of itself.

No micro-transactions, no pay-to-win, no ads, nothing invasive or annoying, just a genuinely good game.

NOTE TO DEVELOPERS:

I returned to East Garrison later in the game (to search for the treasures I missed) and somehow initiated the mini-boss fight again. Not sure if it’s intended or not, just wanted to let you know that it happens.

5 stars
this game blew me away - it is the most fun i’ve had playing a game on ipad since aquaria from about 6 years ago. it is a similar styled game - i’ve heard that it is the castlevania/metroid type genre - but i’m not familiar with either of those classics. this one took me just under 42 hours to do everything there was to do, and it took me just under a week to get from start to finish while playing it somewhat obsessively during the entire timeframe. one thing that makes this a bit different than other games that i’ve enjoyed is that you can “level up” so eventually even if you aren’t that skillful at the game mechanics your character will become strong enough to just crush everything in your path without too much dexterity required. the boss fights are all somewhat similar but every one takes a little while to beat - usually more than one try even if you are on a high level - i finished at level 29 which makes the character super-strong due to the greater amount of time i spent trying to get through some of the areas. you can probably finish the game at level 20, and it would require much more skill to do so. anyway sorry for the long-winded review here if i’m wasting people’s time, but i wish to commend the developers for making a truly *awesome* game, and i very much hope it wins the game of the year award.
A. Nonu.mouse,
Intensely challenging and simply beautiful!
It’s not often review games on the App Store because I’ve played so darn many of them and quite a few are hyped up with flashy screen shots and fake reviews to get people to buy a half-made animation project or incomplete concept game. GrimValor doesn’t need these because it’s a complete experience in and of itself. You can tell from the way it plays, the art style, the soundtracks, the character designs, GrimValor is inspired by another popular game series, but it’s also entirely its own game. The concept is popular lately, but GrimValor itself takes it a unique direction. I have played most of the first chapter so far, and the controls are simple, the action is fast-paced, and the story is captivating. This is really more than a game, it’s a work of art. The creators should be proud of they have made and this is worth every cent of the price.
monkeymail7,
A unique take on the mobile RPG genre
Grimvalor’s charming visuals mixed with its phenomenal soundtrack create a truly one of a kind experience. While the story never seemed to truly pull me in the gameplay and visuals are absolutely astounding. I loved the chain combat system, with deadly heavy hitting strikes, and the fast paced dodge mechanic as it’s extremely satisfying. Exploring the winding dungeons and areas is extremely addicting, and each hunted scene and boss battle where always fresh and exciting to get into. Additionally getting new loot from hidden chests is always very satisfying it’s awesome traveling a bit off the beaten path to be rewarded with a new and powerful weapon or trinket. I also adored the simple yet heavily tactical leveling and progression system. It’s the cherry on top of this amazing RPG. The only aspects of the game I did not like where the character avatars as they looked overtly goofy for a relatively serious game. Additionally the voice acting left something to be desired as it comes off as a bit dull and uninspired. Overall a truly fantastic game would highly recommend!

Pros - Amazing soundtrack, satisfying visuals, fun and intuitive combat, unique weapons, easy to access leveling, and progression system, also little to no bugs.

Cons - Weak story, uninteresting characters, and very robotic voice acting.

Overall I’d say this is a solid 8-9/10!
Chadro777,
Instant classic!!
Cross between bloodborne and strider but don’t let the hack and slash word play fool ya, This will punish you badly if you “hack and slash” as it’s a skill based game. Enemies are smart and it will take multiple Respawn attempts on some parts to complete. This is like dark souls “prepare to die!!! “In a good way”. Though you die a lot a for mentioned, it doesn’t get boring or repetitive. The grind for the components/in game currency “no iaps!!”, keeps things fresh and worth the grind. You’ll gladly search every nook and cranny for loot and goodies to win that new sword or armor upgrade. Bosses are well thought out and levels are masterfully designed. Physics are near perfect and controls fluid and super responsive. I dare to say, I’ve never played a side scrolling game in its league. This stands on it own two feet. Though it borrows from other titles it feels original. Well worth the asking price. Can’t wait for the sequel!!
