Version history

1.0.7
2021-09-08
A few tiny bug fixes:
-Best time record will now save properly
-Magazine popup displays correctly now
-Contract effect applies to existing enemies when player picks it up (mainly only relevant for shopkeep fight)
1.0.6
2021-07-16
I found a few more minor bugs, so I fixed them! Here's a list of the fixed bugs/tweaks for those of you that are interested:

-fixed a bug preventing player's stats from saving when beating the boss
-fixed a bug with final boss's hard mode attack if player had Contract item
-Clone Pod will now synergize properly with Asclepius and Totem
-Asclepius + Totem no longer prevents player from dying
-enemy damage popup x values now stay where they should be
-fixed bug where Crank would sometimes not fire in the direction the player originally aimed
-Trick Chest explosions no longer only create 1 hit effect if spawned when no enemies are around
-player turn animation fixed when picking up an item from shopkeep if they didn't also pick up an item in the same turn that they defeated the shopkeep enemy
-critical hit popups are now clamped to stay within view border
-Gun Oil no longer triggers Totem or Bubble (my reasoning being that it's not a full reload, so it doesn't really count)
-Infernal enemy flames are now white if spawned on a dark background
-Beehive initial shot deals 4 damage now instead of 3
1.0.5.2

Okay, turns out there was one more tiny bug (Dark Cloak wasn't removed on defeat, so it made the player invincible), lol. Now enjoy a beautiful, bug-free Gun Rounds time!

There were 2 tiny bugs that I missed in that last update, so I fixed them!
1.0.5
2021-07-10
This update introduces a huge amount of performance improvements and bug fixes, as well as some balancing tweaks! In a few months I'm hoping on releasing the 2.0 update, which will introduce 4 new worlds, as well as a bunch of new weapons, skills, and a new shop type.

Here are a few of the more significant changes in this update:
-Reduced screenshake for piercing-type projectiles (so things like Beam don't trigger massive amounts of shaking)
-Reworked particle system, so it shouldn't heat up your phone anymore and the game should use less battery
-Asclepius reloads the player's ammo entirely instead of just a portion of it
-Droplet now costs 3 ammo
-Changed how Crank works, so it no longer requires rapid tapping of the screen to use
-Clone Pod now summons an additional familiar
-Critical hits are updated significantly: weapons that fire multiple shots at once will ALL be critical now if a crit is triggered
-Added Italian localization!

Thanks for playing:)
1.0.4

-Prism beam deals more damage
-Sweep deals more damage
-Trick Chest explosions spread out randomly, making it easier to hit enemies
-Reduced cooldown on Familiar after being hit
-Removed Crystal from pool of possible starting weapons
-Asclepius restores more ammo
-Various other bug fixes and balancing changes
1.0.2
2020-08-18
- Increased difficulty of Easy Mode. It should give a decent challenge now:)
- Slightly increased damage of Solar Beam
- Snake now fires one extra projectile, making it easier to hit multiple enemies
- Slightly increased range of Blast
- Removed low-tier weapons from starting weapon pool (Minigat, Zap, etc.)
- Ghost enemy no longer has attack formations that are impossible to block
- Critical hits from Sharp Ammo now work better with attacks that fire multiple projectiles in a row (like Snake or Quetzalcoatl)
- Various other minor tweaks and bug fixes
1.0.1

-Added Easy Mode
-Added quick restart button on game over screen. Get back into the action more quickly!

Daniel 11235813,
A short, fun, and challenging game.
This game is very fun. I often find myself playing this game for several runs at a time. The game also has a good challenge level. Sure, normal mode can be very difficult at times, but easy mode is much more relaxed.
Also recently I have come across (in my opinion) a glitch that makes the game have almost no challenge at all on any mode. I got the item “emperor round” and died on one run. The next run I noticed that it seemed like the effects of this item were still in effect. Then I bought the demon skull and bubble shield in the first shop. After this, the enemies started to drop very large amounts of money, usually over 150 per room/level in the coast and over 500 per room in the gehena. When the run was over I finished with over 5800 even after buying all the items in the shop.
Astral_Strand,
Awesome game
If you’re looking for a unique title with an innovative turnbased approach to shooting combat with a nostalgic game it type feel Gun Rounds is where it’s at. Incredibly addicting especially due to the rogue like element and the mystery box style way your acquire your arsenal. My only tick on this is a technical one, when I’ve been mid-game I’ve received phone calls and when returning to the game the sound does not work. I hope this gets fixed because the sound is key to this game with the timing factor of attacks. Still my favorite new title on the App Store.

Brilliant
Among uninspired profit scheming ad-riddled nonsense this is a treat. Gun Rounds is quite a challenge and the main blocking system has unusual timing but very learnable. The music and aesthetic is fantastic. I honestly didn't expect the fourth world to be so unnerving but it was a pleasant surprise.

This game is clearly a work of love! There are not a massive number of weapons and items but a few dozen is enough to populate the game with some fun synergies and several unique builds. I've also gotten up to 45 different palette swap choices which is a really nice touch.

Currently I've made it to the coast in hard mode with 59 total games. Definitely worth spending a little for a game like this than to suffer through ads for a meager experience. Great job :)

Also the clone's face really matches my aesthetic 11/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Awesome short-burst roguelike fun
It’s challenging, but thats the point of a roguelike! Play, learn a little bit, die, learn from your mistakes, get a little further in the next run with all of your newfound knowledge! Tons of fun variance and surprises with the different enemies and guns, and very rewarding when you get into the “flow” of the game. The only thing I’d like to see added is haptic feedback for some of the enemies attack telegraphs, because I usually don’t play games with sounds. Thank you for the fun!
iamdwdraws,
Short, sweet and satisfying.
Little mobile games like this give me hope that there’s a market of folks out there happy to exchange a few bucks to have a some fun with a neat, novel experience.
Thanks for making this game, scratches that roguelike itch real well and fills the free minutes during the day perfectly. Though a good run did make me late out the door this morning 😋
AirGearFan,
Great game ruined by recent update
I was so happy with my purchase when I first downloaded this game, it was fun and “easy mode” was my go-to for casual play. However the dev’s recently released an update that turned easy mode into the old hard mode, projectiles travel faster and it seems like I take more damage and the guarding system is now less forgiving. Sure the game is still fun but it’s much harder and more frustrating to try and play casually when the game requires 100% concentration. I’m now on the fence as to whether I should keep it on my phone.
mrmonkey1234,
Fun, but incredibly short
The core of this game is incredibly fun—it’s a novel, arcade-like take on roguelite fun, combining real-time reflexes with turn-based combat.

EDIT: Thanks so much for the response! I’m guessing I must’ve accidentally clicked easy mode, as I’m not seeing a new game mode and I’m certainly not that good at games generally (I hate that the App Store automatically installs updates, because I feel out of the loop). Definitely upping the score and deleting the more critical portions of the review, time to go play some proper normal mode!
improtractor,
Simple and stylish roguelite
Gun Rounds is great. The game is easy to play and feels well designed for mobile. It also has a variety weapons and fun enemies to discover. The blocking can be a bit finicky at times, but there’s a real sense of improvement as you master it. Hope to see more added to the game some day!
Richardgatsby,
One More Try...
Fantastic. Demands understanding of your enemies in a way that hearkens back to classic roguelikes while offering a clever spin on those mechanics with a high skill ceiling.

I might want an additional weapon unlock system to lighten the monotony of color palate unlocks (in itself a clever system that favorably brings to mind Downwell and Luftrausers), but that’s just pie in the sky. A heck of a game.
TheProxy,
Great Idea, Poor Execution
The gameplay loop of this game is torture. You lose to a very hard end boss of enemy and have to spend way too long climbing back. The turn based nature means you can’t speed up the process either. It basically feels like the first two acts are a slow waste of time. In other games you can play faster with more experience but here you have to sit through boring attack after attack only to lose to the final boss and do it again.
