Helpermonkey3,
GymGoal
Fairly easy to use. Database of exercises is large but could be larger. Does include some dumbbell and non-gym exercises. I was able to create different custom routines for gym and no gym workouts. Exercised in the database have complete info on how to perform properly including illustrations. Most have the option to play animation of the exercise being performed. You can also add your own custom exercises and create custom groups of favorite exercises for easily creating new workout routines. I also like that you can backup your data to their server for free For me, GymGoal was the right combination of features without being overly complex to learn. My only wish is that GymGoal continues to expand the database of exercises.
holiet joe,
Better when it was new
Been using the app for several years. Features that used to be free now cost. Loyalty means little. However, it's still one of the better gym apps around.
Conclue,
Just get Pro Version
I bought this one last night to end up buying this one today because they only allow one routine (like that’s even needed in real life) to force you into the pro. Now I paid $12 for this app. I guess it will be the last $12 for the shiesty move on their part. I used this app since 2008. So much for loyalty is right.
AK St. James,
Awesome update
The charting and scheduling capabilities throughout the GymGoal series of apps is fantastic! The sheer amount of stat tracking information that you can put into this app is excellent. This app helped me get my act together and actually implement and maintain a consistent workout regimen.

This free version is constrained to exercises that use dumbbells only (no barbell- or machine-based exercises). Try it out and explore all its capabilities (unfortunately, the UI requires quite a bit of drilling down to get to all its features). Also, visit SmalTek's website to see a far more comprehensive overview, feature listing and video tutorials of this awesome app!
KjosL,
Why does it say Free now?
I use this app every time I go to the gym or if I am just logging a run in the neighborhood. This is the ideal app-alternative to the pen and pad log in the gym and so much more convenient to review results and chart progress.
I see two versions of this app in the app store...
I bought this app for $2 at the start of the year, after the last update (October 27) the app now says gymgoal "free" - why was my app not upgraded to the version i paid for and rather seems it was downgraded to the free version? This seems to be a bug that needs to be fixed. Please help!
Lechee,
Great free app
It only being dumb bell exercises isn't a problem, you can just do the equivalent workout using machines or bars/plates, whatever. It makes it easy to keep track of your routines and track your progression. Also for someone who hasn't been lifting for a while, it can feel like you're just wandering around the gym aimlessly, not really knowing what lifts to do; but this builds a list for you, taking out all the guess work, also show the right techniques. Definatly a great app, especially for the price tag (free!)
stalinmo,
Love the Info
This application has taught me a lot about the way to exercise properly. It has shown me the right steps to make sure that I am not hurting my body and working out the right muscles. I have also noticed many muscles I didn't even think of exercising, which are now helping my form a lot. I have also avoided overworking some muscles since I got this application. The information really helped me even out my exercises and helped me to work out the right muscles at the right times.
KevinfromOhio,
Great app. Very useful!
Surprisingly useful app considering that it's free. The diagram showing the human muscular anatomy is really helpful when choosing what lifts you need to do to get the results you want; you tap the muscle you want to work on and it shows the workouts that will utilize that body-part with instructions plus a video on how to correctly do it. I've developed a 4 day weekly routine and this app has been a great help in developing, logging, and motivating me to do my routine. Only complaint is that it could look better and have snappier performance. Highly recommended!
TxTheseus,
Great App
May be a bit confusing at first for a few users. However it is intuitive enough to figure out and it's pretty powerful when it comes to designing your own routines which you pretty much have to do since there's only one built in routine. Great features including designing routines for each muscle group and timers for cool down between sets. It has a history track that can be backed up to a server. Haven't figured out how to properly use the graphs to track progress that isn't solely judged by the length of time of the workout session, though.
Bajskorv12,
Very nice
Got this to replace unsupported gymbuddy. A bit of a learning curve but so far I really like this one. Price is right .
Take time to really go thought each page and look for inconspicuous tabs. I kept thinking why do i have to back out Evert time to view history and past sets/weights used but finally took à few minutes and found it just one screen away. At first i thought this was just à dement replacement for unsupported gymbuddy. Now i see it is in fact much much nicer. If you Can make it thought the leasing curve you Will definitely realitet just how nice tis App is.
