Hebrew Flashcards is an educational app and quiz game that provides a simple and easy way to learn, practice and quiz yourself on the Hebrew Alphabet, or rather “AlephBet” in Hebrew. The Hebrew Flashcards game app contains the full alphabet of 22 characters, 13 vowels and 5 sofits and final forms that you will need to gain a base level understanding of the full Hebrew alphabet.

Please add this option....
These flash cards have been very helpful for me. I like the option of hiding the details. But something that I would really like is having the option of marking letters that I’m having issues learning. That way I can go back and practice on only the letters that I need to practice with more. Not having to skip through the letters I already know.

A Great Free Resource To Help Learn The Alef Bet
From the perspective of someone who is attempting to learn a language after a couple of decades of not “going to school” this app has been a blessing. I like that it shows 4 ways each letter is written including the paleo-Hebrew form. That’s a nice plus. I can’t speak for the paid features as I am not financially able to afford that option at this time. I “quiz” myself daily using this app in addition to reading scripture via an inter linear Bible and have also found a great online Bible Hebrew class that I listen to and/or watch. It’s been about 4 months since I began and I am now easily recognizing many Hebrew words and have the confidence that (all praise to The Most High) I will learn to read and understand the language of The Creator.
The only suggestion I would have is it would be great to add the gematria to the letter-so that one could also be able to memorize that as well.

Useful and Disappointing
I paid for the audio pack and it is very helpful.
The app in general is simply too basic. The only thing this app does is shows you the letters of the alphabet. That’s it. You can practice looking at the alefbet and hear the sounds of you pay, and you can rake a quiz. However, the quiz puts letters with 2 sounds, for example sin/shin in ways that does not explain which is which. In practice, the details say Shin\Sin, which in English is read left to right; however, the depictions of the letters shows שּׂ/שׁ In Hebrew I guess you would read that right to left but without explanation it does not make sense and does not teach you the proper letter. Then the quiz lists it as Sin/Shin. They should separate these anyway in order to learn the difference. Anyway, if you’re reading this I would change my mind and say it’s not very useful at all unless you are using to practice something you’re learning elsewhere. But then why would you need this app?

Great app, a few suggestions
It’s a very helpful app. I learned the letters with it. I have a few suggestions to improve it though: test us on what we miss until we get it right every time. Show Mnemonic hints to help us remember the letter right after we miss the letter. For example, if I miss mem, flash on the screen that mem looks like a mouse. If you flash a picture of a mem made to look like a mouse, it would be even better. Also, I always get confused because of the way the vowel sounds are written out: ey is the long “a” sound. But seeing “ey” makes me think of “e,” so I always have to go slower. Overall great app though. Thanks so much for it!

TURN RINGER TO “ON”!!!
I paid for the audio pack. It worked fine for a couple of days. Then the audio stopped working. I made sure I had paid for the audio pack, deleted and re-installed the app *and* the audio pack. Nothing worked. Contacting the developer is a joke—this app is not even listed as one of their products, let alone having any support or help. I was ready to give up.
BY ACCIDENT, I discovered that if you have the ringer on your phone turned off, the sound will not play. This is true even when the volume on the phone is turned all the way up. IF YOU HAVE THE AUDIO PACK BUT CAN’T HEAR THE AUDIO, MAKE SURE YOUR RINGER IS ON.
This simple fix should be *embedded* in the app, as a help suggestion. The developer skimped on documentation and this is what you get.

This is what started me using me iPad
I returned to “the Tribe” at 40. In hindsight, transliteration genuinely held me back. This app has been an enormous help. I was lucky enough to have the planet's best Cantor (for&to me,anyhow) teach me BUT this app was huge. Once I got the audio for this, then turned on the vowels & soffits, my overall Hebrew skills exploded. To all the haters, NOTHING is going to eliminate the need for hard study. Don't blame the app & keep a set of paper flashcards in your backpack. Thank you for helping me be able to read from the Torah on me 55th birthday. Especially the dev team & testers' work. The legwork shows.

It’s a rip off and it’s also garbage
I took it out of my iPhone 8 Plus and I had it. It doesn’t work now I have the iPhone XR. I did try my new phone and I honestly do not like it. It’s crap. They want to charge you for hearing the sounds of the alphabet no way! I could understand them wanting to charge you to add on features boy Bible names and other related stuff in the Hebrew. After all they do have to make money and I do understand that. But to charge us just so we could hear it the alphabet sounds I’m gonna go back to what I said earlier no way no way! I’m taking it out on my phone. I’m going to find some other apps that I can learn the Hebrew through iTunes. I don’t mind purchasing stuff but not with the alphabet nope not going to do it. Don’t waste your time in this app it’s garbage

Could use improvement
I bought the audio add on so I could hear the correct pronunciation of the names of the letters. But the N and S buttons are not active so all I can hear is how the sound is pronounced. For example, “g” s in girl. There is no instruction that I can find on how to switch on those two buttons. I’m only getting one third of the audio I paid for.

Deleted App 1 Minute After Download
Someone had written a review a year or more ago about the app showing a blank, white screen. That still has not been fixed. I shutdown the app and launched again and choose a different menu option: Quiz. I was presented with characters, but there is no option to hear the pronunciation. I was frustrated after cycling through the quiz. I assumed the app was for beginners, but found it too confusing and not user-friendly. Hoping to find an app where I can learn the basic Hebrew alphabet and hear the pronunciation.

Not for iPhone, Save Some Time
The first 3 times I reboot this app, my iPhone X got couldn’t load the Alephbets screen. So I tried to open a quiz but as soon as I selected the type of quiz, half of the information was clipped off screen making it impossible to do anything. The screens force you into landscape and they look and behave like cheesy html web pages... not even close to the look and feel of an iPhone native app. Sorry, don’t waste your time with this app until the developer can deliver a better experience for the iPhone.
