I have loved history since my early days and we had Social Studies classes. Other networks claimed to be history focused, but alas they gave in to the pressures of reality tv content and the world became a sadder place for it. Then I stumbled across your channel on You Tube and I submerged myself in story after story of amazing content. It dawned on me that there was an app, partly because it was mentioned every time I watched a video. Now I’m a subscriber, two days in and I fall asleep listening to dialog that seemed impossible to get. I’m in love! I want to tell the world about this app, so this is my attempt to hail your praises! My one concern is I hope you’re making a profit. The content is so well put together that it must be god awful expensive to produce. Hopefully my subscription will aid in reducing the financial burden. Once again, thank you for creating this amazing digital space.

For those who began this app, thanks so much. It’s been an amazing and appreciated treat for history lovers like me. The one thing I find myself wishing though every time I watch is that the videos NEED a jump forward ten or 15 second button like on all other streaming services. It’s so easy to miss something said and to not have the ability to tap screen to jump back means we have to manually scroll back and then we watch many minutes more just to get where we were. I also wanted to say I saw a petition going around saying to boycott this page since its founder is not a real historian. Such nonsense! You guys are wonderful at teaching and that petition seemed very jealous when I saw it. Keep making good programming (truly hoping with more funding you’ll have more content and become a REAL streaming history channel in the way that the history channel lost a long time ago. Thank you!! Love the founder and love suzannah and all the new people you introduce us to. X

This app is so wonderful for all the historical dorks out there like myself. So many different topics and videos choose from! I’m so happy that not all episodes are the same length. It allows me to watch shorter episodes in the morning while getting ready for work and longer episodes at night while I am winding down. They have so many topics from from early civilization, to the 13 colonies in America, Egypt, and even the Irish war of independence! So cool that so many different topics are present in this app; and Dan Snow makes watching and learning about these topics even more enjoyable! I have finally found a streaming service I’ll never get bored of. Thanks so much for creating this for history lovers like myself!! 10/10 I would recommend to friends!

I appreciate the up front content presented in these videos and podcasts. The music tends to fit the theme but nothing is overly dramatized to keep viewers attention, something I very much appreciate. The experts are just that: studied, peer-reviewed experts in their fields.

My only two complaints with the software are this (and this could totally be user error here!): 1. When watching on my iPhone, if the view flips from portrait to landscape which it can do fairly easily unless I remember to lock the screen, the episode will most often times pause. As I move about, this happens more often than I realized. Took me a few confused occurrences before I realized what would trigger a random pause.

2. There is no “10-15” second rewind or fast forward. Often, if I miss a comment or just want to review something again, I like that quick jump back option rather than have to try and drag the cursor with my finger. It’s hard to only go back a few seconds rather than jump five minutes.

Minor things that may only be issues to me personally but as I’ve become accustomed to watching on other platforms with these features, I’ve become programmed.

I very much enjoy learning about history, and especially love listening to Dan Snow’s History Podcast! It is actually a favorite of mine because of the depth & breadth of its daily episodes. Dan presents each episode with key cultural & contextual understanding that humanizes the information to help us better appreciate the impacts of of significant events on people’s lives. He does this via thoughtful interviews with a variety of authors & professors, who are experts in their fields of history. I enjoy these interviews which often have a conversational flavor. Dan Snow is a wonderful interviewer with a great voice who displays his depth of historical knowledge with respectful ease, occasional humor & positive interactions with his guests. I highly recommend Dan Snow’s History Podcast!

The breadth of content is vast.
This service is great. The app is set up in a logical way. There are no lengthy intros or repeated info like on History Vault when something has been dumped onto their streaming service but it was edited poorly bc it used to allow for cable commercial breaks. Auto play generates similar content relevant to whatever you just watched.

I have no doubt it will continue to grow to include more Russian history allowing perspective for modern times (to help us all understand why leaders there are always so corrupt) or Ancient India. For now the library is focused on Ancient classical studies, European History and modern times as they affected Europe. There is some on US, Egypt etc but not nearly as much.

I've greatly enjoyed watching shows during my first month of subscription. There are amazing documentaries not available elsewhere. The app works well, and I've had no issues loading or watching content. I would highly recommend this for all fellow lovers of history.

The one thing I feel they are missing at this point is an app for the AppleTV. I still watch most of my content on my television, and that means I have to airplay the content. That works well, but it means I've tied up my phone during playback.

This one hurts because I thought with Dan Snow out front this would have been good quality documentaries. Instead it’s mostly audio / podcast nonsense mingled with short poor quality semi-documentaries. Oh and let’s not forget some old black and white shorts. If that doesn’t keep your attention maybe you would enjoy “LISTENING” to a “Time Team” episode… That's right listen as if your watching it… but your not… you can only listen! I’ve tried to cancel with ZERO success during my alleged 30 free days!! Just messages saying cancel through ROKU… As soon as my credit card was charged the ONLY thing I’ve managed to do “I THINK” is cancel the recurring billing…. A Year From Now!! And I’m not sure that I’ve even accomplished that much!! This is so bad and I have had such a hard time that I’ve wondered several times if my ex wasn’t running this outfit!! I WAS a Dan Snow and Dan Jones. But No more!!

There is so much to love about History Hit, it is difficult to choose! I love the abundance of great shows (podcasts and video) from every period with fun, thoughtful, and progressive hosts who look for the voices seldom heard in traditional history. Podcasts like gone medieval, the ancients, not just the Tudor’s, all of it! It is my first stop every day before heading out to walk the dog and I am regaling my family (to their dismay) with stories from 14th century Sweden over dinner. I want to gift a subscription to everyone I know!

I have been a History Hit subscriber for four years I think. It’s a constant for me. Working. Doing chores. Exercising. There is something for almost anyone. I am a huge admirer of Dan Snow and the job he’s doing on this platform. His guests are top notch and give a depth and balance to historical topics I’d never get on my own. The authors and books I’ve now read and the programmes I’ve been able to watch have greatly influenced my travels now. You owe yourself a subscription!!
