TetyanaMI777,
When it works it works, when it doesn’t it’s awful
The idea of this app is great. It allows me to view the pictures my camera took without taking out its memory card, download them to my phone, remotely change the camera settings, etc. However, getting it to connect and work as intended is challenging. Most of the time, I have to try connecting to it multiple times before the connection is established, even when I’m standing right next to the camera and my phone is very well within its range. The app itself is buggy, kicks me out often, riddled with typos such as “Please waiting” instead of “Please wait” when downloading the images, the image download is instant sometimes but bugs out a lot too. In all, I wish the app was designed better because I enjoy the camera and love viewing/downloading images remotely.
s1marks,
Easy to use with all the functionality I need or expect.
I am using this app with a CanPark T85 trail camera (has both Bluetooth and WiFi). The app does everything I can think of that would be useful. I can turn on the cameras WiFi (via bluetooth) and then download pictures and videos from it to me iPhone via WiFi. I can adjust the cameras configuration using the app also. The advantage of being able to do this is that I can mount the camara high up in a tree and never need to touch it again (except to change batteries....the app can’t Chang’s the batteries for me! :-). I have had no issues with it at all.

It is important to understand the relationship between the Camera and your iPhone. The T85 camera I have does not connect to my home WiFi, rather I need to connect my iPhobe to the cameras WiFi, once you understand that, the app and the relationship between you phone and the camara is perfec.

App works great for me
Campark T86 camera with iOS on both iPhone and iPad. The concept to remember is that first, you create a DIRECT Bluetooth connection between your phone and the camera. You then create a separate DIRECT WiFi connection between your phone and the camera. You are not using your home WiFi. Range is limited. You must remain connected by both methods while accessing the camera. Both connections are used by the app for different things. I have no problem when being within 50 feet, direct line of sight, of the camera. The app does almost everything remotely that you could do if you were at the camera, even changing settings and deleting files from the card. The only thing you need to do at the camera would be to replace batteries. The app could use a few enhancements and those suggestions were submitted to the developer.

A waste of time
I have spent many, many hours trying to make this app do what it is supposed to do. Let’s not forget that this isn’t a stand alone app, it works with specific trail/wildlife cameras, as they are marketed and marked on the box as an incentive of buying the cams. These aren’t $20-special cams and people specifically choose these for their app/wifi/blutooth capabilities.
This app maybe 50% worked with my iPhone7. When I traded that in and purchased my iPhone 11 at Christmas (which the cam was a Christmas present I specifically asked for after doing hours of research and seeing good ratings for) it worked even less. I’m talking it comes up on blutooth maybe 30% of the time. When it does it 95% of the time doesn’t connect with the wifi. If I actually get both of those to be picked up by the app it freezes and is worthless.
A requirement for the unit I wanted was the ability to use an app with it.
This app fails its customers and it has for months now, leading me to believe the company is doing very little to fix this situation.
gwarsux,
Crashes often. Makes me hate my camera
The steps to get the footage are awful, you still have to go out in the mosquitos in range of it (20ft) and turn on Bluetooth, connect to camera, the you tell the camera to turn on wifi, then you connect to the wifi that the camera is putting out, then you go back to the app to get your photos, if you’re lucky, it might not crash. You can’t save too many at a time or it crashes. You can only select 12 or so photos at a time. Even if to delete its select 10, delete, select 10, delete, etc.
regret my purchase.
If the app allowed you to actually select all, and didn’t crash all the dang time, it would be okay. those two requirements are bare minimum
Rarity_Unicorn,
Good camera, awful program
This program is absolutely frustrating to use. Sometimes it can take forever to find and connect the camera with Bluetooth, even if it connected from the same location just a couple mins earlier. Nine times out of ten it crashes when I hit ‘turn on WiFi’ after the camera has connected. If, through some act of god, I can connect with the WiFi, half the time it crashes when I select the album!

If or when I can finally access the album, viewing pictures is a pain. You can’t select a picture to increase the size. Due to this it can be hard to determine what was captured. The only fool proof way of checking is to pull the cards. This app definitely needs some tweaks or updates.

Awful app
Others have covered most of the failures of the app. I’ll just add one that I didn’t see mentioned. When looking at the pics either on the device or locally, “Select all” doesn’t mean select all, but “Select the items that happen to be on screen at the moment and not any you would have to scroll to see”. And as of the latest update (~ March 2021) when you delete multiple items it no longer says “Delete xx items?” (where xx is usually 18 because that’s what fits in my iPhone screen) but rather “Delete the item?” How is that an improvement over the previous version?? Also, the app almost always crashes when downloading videos, sometimes leaving some half-downloaded. Ugh.
PJ the coder,
Needs some serious help
I generally try to give developers the benefit of the doubt, but this is perhaps one of the worst iOS apps I’ve ever seen. The actual trail cam is great but the app is terrible. The process of getting connected to its wifi is actually not bad but it goes downhill rapidly after that.
The feedback after tapping a button is non-existent. Press a button and wonder what is happening for the next 30 seconds. If it doesn’t crash, which is the most likely outcome, it is slow with no feedback about what is happening. The few messages are poorly worded and generally not helpful.
Please open source this app so I can help fix your bugs.
iwjh2,
App crashes
This app is in dire need of fixes! It’s very difficult to connect to as multiple steps are required. Once connected, it has crashed while deleting photos. I have learned that most of the time selecting two photos to delete at once is ok, but beyond that the app closes out. The idea of this app is great, but sadly the developers have not updated it in over a year. In that time Apple has put out a new iOS and it’s likely no longer compatible. If I could give zero stars, I would. It’s disgusting that the app developers have not fixed things more often. They obviously have no integrity when it comes to their work.
Kelbob93,
I really hope they update this app soon.
You can’t view the photos/videos in full (only the small thumbnails) in the “device” folder before you download them, which is really a nuisance since I’d like to see the photos before I choose which ones to download. Also once you do download them and they’re in the app’s “local” folder, you can’t select more than one image to download into your phone’s camera roll - you have to open the image, save to camera roll, open the next image, save to camera roll, etc. By then, I’d rather go out to the camera and pull out the SD card. Really, really frustrating - I hope they fix this soon.
