Description

Igloo is a modern IRC client that supports lots of IRCv3 extensions and works flawlessly with all your favorite networks like Freenode, Libera, Snoonet, Rizon, EFnet, and all others. It has a very simple UI and lots of great themes to choose from. It is the only IRC client on iOS to support DCC/XDCC downloads that get synced right to iCloud Drive so you can access them on your iPhone/iPad in the Files app or on your macOS computer right in a folder called "Igloo". We've also added some extra modifications to improve your experience when using a bouncer such as ZNC, and we even support the IRCCloud bouncer.

This client has it all! If you think of something we haven't please let use know and we'll add it!

Key Features:
• SSL/TLS
• SASL Authentication
• ZNC Integration (with push module https://znc.iglooirc.com)
• DCC/XDCC support (receiving only)
• File/Image/Audio/Video sharing (via Arxius.io, Imgur.com, or your own custom host)
• FaceID/TouchID protection option
• Input completion for channels, nicks, commands and emoji shortcodes
• Now playing script with support for Apple Music and Spotify
• Inline nick coloring
• Inline media
• Full formatting and colors
• IRCv3 Compliant
• Pretty themes

W3BV1P3R,
Awesome app for anyone into IRC
So now that Apple is letting me write reviews now, I can finally make a review for this app. This app is honestly amazing if you’re getting into IRC or have been in IRC for a while.

Now I will say that I’m still kinda against some restrictions with this app, like the network limitations or themes (at least give us dark mode, please). But if you think about it, you’re getting a premium IRC client for iOS for free, while all the others either have horrible UI’s or haven’t been updated in years.

Oh and ignore everyone that says they paid for the app but didn’t get the premium in this one for free like they were promised. I used friggin TESTFLIGHT, and never paid for the actual app (even made sure the dev was aware of this) and I still got premium for free. He even made sure I did and I was happy with it.

The dev has gone through so much to make sure everyone’s happy even with the fight with apple, it’s amazing this app is still here. Thanks for the dedication to this app Eskimo, and I promise I’ll be buying some merch when I can :D
David and Heather E.,
Five Stars Plus!
I was a contented mIRC client user on my PC for years but a bicycle accident left me tetraplegic and dependent on iOS Voice Control to operate my iPad. After reading other reviews posted here it was with no small amount of trepidation that I downloaded Igloo and paid the small cost of getting it up and running. I needn't have worried- with all due respect every one of those negative reviews is so much bunk. The app works perfectly in every regard and I was immediately able to match and then surpass what I was doing using mIRC. To steal the phrase "it just works" I'll add "…and then some!"
kevinjcox,
Great Support
Eskimo had to change the way Igloo functions because of how/what Apple allows. Now light users can use it for free and pro users can pay for all the bells and whistles. If you already bought the previous version, just contact him and he’ll transfer your Pro purchase to the new version. Saved config via iCloud and imported into new version. Everything transferred over and worked perfectly! Best iOS IRC client and great developer.
orozcoescritor,
Keyboard not showing up on iPad
I’ve been looking for a reliable irc tool for iPad, as I’m trying to replace my laptop. I heard good things about Igloo and decided to give the pro version a shot. However, the iPad execution is terrible, as the keyboard is not showing up (it does on iPhone), so it’s almost impossible to type a message on iPad. Update: the developer answered and says he can’t replicate the error. The error occurs when a Bluetooth keyboard is connected to the iPad. Update: the input box is sometimes hidden when the Bluetooth keyboard is connected. I added a star, but there certainly is a bug.
Jaboostin,
Forced upgrade with no backup
The previous Igloo app was deprecated and replaced by this one. The old app was forcibly disabled, giving you only the option to save your configuration to iCloud. It then instructs you to download this new version, but loading that configuration requires a paid upgrade. What?

Edit: hahaha look at the replies from the developer on other negative reviews. Imagine thinking so highly of yourself that you call your users “stupid” and extorting positive reviews from them in exchange for giving them the app they originally paid for.

The one good thing about this forced upgrade was that it convinced me to never give this developer another cent, because they don’t deserve it.
Morgan Germani,
A must have app
Amazing app! The only real IRC on iOS and iPadOS. I honestly think this is even better than my windows based IRC applications. Not only that but the customer service with these guys is extremely good and they are quick to respond to issues. I’m so happy with this app and they’re making it better all the time.
Chloedqin,
kudos, 10/10
was looking for an IRC client that can download files and this worked perfectly with a one time payment of $6. compared to other IRC apps on the market, the UI doesn’t look like it’s from 2008.

also loved reading the dev’s response to some silly goofy reviews lol.
LinuxSam,
Upgrade process was unclear
So, Igloo is decent as an IRC client. It generally works well. The biggest issue I have, they killed the old Igloo and re-released it. I didn’t get any notice about the change until I fired it up recently, saw a “this app no longer works” notice, and had to find the upgrade directions in the appstore reviews. This could have been clearer.
wowow123abc,
I paid for this app and expect not to be tracked.
With iOS 15’s new App Privacy Report feature, I have discovered that even a paid IRC client will perform data analytics and send logs off to Google’s servers. I expect there to be absolutely no tracking of my app usage when paying for an app such as this. I have since uninstalled this. Those who are privacy conscious: beware! UPDATE: To the developer: Do you want me to process a refund request for your aggressive and hostile reply? You don’t deserve $10.
8_bit_hacker,
Inaccessible
Dark Theme should not be a paid feature, as dark backgrounds are a necessity for people with vision issues. Capitalizing on accessibility issues by forcing those who need a dark background to pay for it in order to even test the app - since a white background fails accessibility guidelines - is highly unethical and should be reconsidered.

Any response other than "agreed" by the developer will land this app featured in a case study on unethical UX design to a wide audience on a popular tech publication. Cheers
