OjBluzzmn,
worth the money?
90% the same as impc pro as far as useful functionality for my needs goes. A few recs: There is no ability to import Factory Sounds from Pro to Pro 2. No ability to rename Tracks. And to transfer Projects from Pro to Pro 2 you have to use the archaic Itunes File Transfer process with your computer. Perhaps the Audio and AU Track record will come in handy for some. But the midi edit and audio edit features are not as good as those in, such as, Cubasis. Just me, but there is a 32 bar limit to the Tracks view Audi and IAA recordings. So you have to go from sequence to sequence to use the track editors for Full Song edits that may span Sequences. And Import/Export doesn’t directly connect to any useful libraries for me, like icloud, dropbox, audioshare. But if you’re clever you can make things happen using Audiocopy as an intermediary. If you like Impc Pro, you’ll like Impc Pro 2 better, and maybe the $25 cost will help the developers add more Ease of Use and interoperability features. Personally, I use impc only as input to Cubasis where its ez to edit, mix, import/export. But with the new record options, its becoming more a part of my Stable.
AKASUP ON ITUNES,
The Best Beat Making App
iMPC Pro 2 has the best sound engine on iOS. I have tried all other apps that are comparable such as, BeatMaker 3, FruityLoops, and Maschine. The only app that has a sound engine as great as iMPC Pro 2 is Garbageband. However, Garageband’s work flow doesn’t come close to iMPC Pro for me. I sample and use a lot of outside apps for melodies I play myself. Try it. Load some drum into iMPC Pro 2 and the same drums in any other app. They won’t sound the same compared to iMPC Pro 2. It’s just crispier. It has the MPC punch to it. The only problem I have with it is the time stretching of samples they become glitchy and stutter when you stretch them and play in different pitches. Not cool at all. I still work around it by not stretching my samples. BeatMaker 3 has you guys beat in that category. Fix it. I read a comment about recording full songs vocal-wise? MPCs aren't made for that. It’s not a Daw. When has it ever been? That’s it. Buy it. One more thing. Getting files into the app is a breeze, and that’s thanks to Apple themselves. You can dump all the sounds you want into your app using files in iOS. iMPC Pro 2 has a folder!!!!!
ciiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrt,
well worth the money
so i just purchased impcPro 2 last week for my ipad and i think it’s great except for a few minor things and this could just be me not fully understanding the program yet as i am still figuring things out but the most annoying thing is when i take the time to set up a drum kit on say, track 1. it works great and when i save it and return that drum kit is still there but if i build a drum kit for more than track 1, 2,3,4,5 etc. the kits that i built are never there when i return after a save, i get beats continuum as my default kits and it kills me cause then i have to go build them all over again but like i said except for track 1, it’s always there. am i doing something wrong? is this just not a feature? would be great if it was though and my only other things that would make this absolutely perfect are time stretching and being able to edit and manipulate my tracks right on the track screen. i can’t eliminate or add individual notes at all. again, am i just missing something? when you pair this with garage band , it’s an unfucking stoppable hip hop war machine!
IamSeeR,
iPad Pro 12” User HAS Immediate Disappointment
Well...let me preface. I have been a long time user of both iMPC and iMPC Pro and have been excited about this upgrade for a while. I bought an iPad Pro 12” to up my game. I almost bought the original MPC cover that was made for the original iPad because I loved this app so much. I am thoroughly enjoying the apps that take advantage of the screen space on the iPad Pro 12”. It actually feels much better making music on the bigger surface. THIS VERSION OF THE APP UNFORTUNATELY DOES NOT. The most glaring problem for me is the size of the pads for iMPC are the same exact pixel space if they were on the smaller iPads with a lot of empty grey space surrounding them. PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE GOING TO FIX THIS - IF NOT, I want a refund.

By the way, the pads on iMPC Pro 1 scale up to the full size of the area. How was this missed on version 2?

I love you guys - If this is fixed, I’ll be able to give a proper review and feel like I can use this instrument. I’m really excited about the new features but I don’t want to even attempt playing the pads at that size. I got the iPad Pro for this reason. Heck, iMPC is one of the main reasons I upgraded my iPad. Otherwise, it feels completely unnatural to play in the smaller pads that just float in the middle of the big open grey area., Please fix so I can give you guys the review this app deserves.
The Reel Tech,
I Love App BUT PLEASE FIX THIS
1st and for most I like to say “I Love this App!!!”. But I have a couple of issues I’m having using iMPC Pro 2.1.. This 1st issue bugs me the most. That would be the random cutting off or choke muting random sounds like I’m running out of polyphony on certain Projects when switching from one Pattern to another. The 2nd issue I have is that the mixer parameters changes with each Pattern. When I put my Project in Song format and make a Volume change or EQ change or EFX Send change for the overall Song it just only make changes to the Pattern that is selected. It always seem like it’s in Automation mode and I wish it a way to turn off this feature. I HATE THIS!!! This is is something you will notice and annoy you when you are splitting your instruments up into multi tracks. Like Kick Track 1, Snare Track 2, Bassline Track 3 etc..... Please investigate this and fix these issues. I’m using an 6 Generation iPad with 128gig of memory. I have 2 feature request and that would be Real-time Sample Time Stretching and Sample Loop Crossfading.
BlakeMelodeus,
Win My Heart Again like MPC 3000...
The interface looks attractive. The loop trigger by1/8th-1/128th in Perform mode is a BEAST... internal sampling, chopping, normalizing and all of the edit features looks well thought out! Almost worth forgiving you guys for taking so long to bring 2.0 to the BIG SCREEN -10.5. I’ve installed about 4gb of libraries in the iMPC Pro 2 app by dragging out the folder in file sharing in iTunes then rewriting it back in and every time I’ve tried to chop a long sample it crashed. Maybe because I dropped and dragged them into the file sharing folder then dropped and dragged it back into the file sharing section as opposed to using AudioCopy. They played just fine but when I tried to chop a sample in iMPC Pro 2 it crashed. I’ve removed all of the uploaded samples and drums and the chopping feature works just fine. I want to add pics to the libraries I’ve installed. Any way I can get them to show up like the iMPC Pro Pack sound purchased libraries? Is there a limitation of how many sounds I can have per folder? Other than that I’d love to integrate with Cubasis 2 or BeatMaker3.
mbtheimperial,
FUN daw BUT!
Before I give my cons I would start off with the pro’s KILLER WORKFLOW!!! Love the look and the organization EVERYTHING IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!! Learning curve was a BREEZE! Everybody do the impc university thing the diploma is a pretty good soundpack. Now onto my cons:

Why don’t we have a metronome on/off switch for playback and not just for recording? That is pretty standard and a must for me to get my groove going alot faster at the start of creating. Without the feature we are playing our groove possibly at the wrong tempo we set due to the fact we can’t hear it. I manually add 4/4 hi hats to have some sort of metronome.

The mixer for tracks are cool BUT fader/fx controls up to 64 different sounds depending how many sounds you have on a track and its banks. So it forces you to mix the track sounds individually on the tweak side of things BUT WE CAN’T add fx that way nor have a hi mid lo eq. We have lo-pass and hi-pass which is ok but i would like to see fx to each individual pad with a 64 fader mixer for 1 track.

I love the audio unit for instruments can we get that for fx?

Fix that and this is a hands down 5star daw. Even with the above mentioned cons I couldn’t mention all the pro’s which are GREAT I have a blast when i work with the impc pro 2! Highly recommend this daw.
Hey_Andre,
Recording latency
There is an issue with recording latency. Whenever i play with it as a toy, both with virtual pads as well as with my Presonus Atom controller, then everything is working fine with no issues. However, whenever i’m trying to record there is a lag and obvious latency which is frustrating because i have to spend a lot of time moving and adjusting the notes with my apple pencil in the timeline.

I know that this is fixable. I own your old iMPC Pro for iPad, which you don’t even have in the app store anymore, and there is a zero lag or latency when recording, including when I’m using my Presonus Atom pad controller. I was excited about the new version and I do appreciate the improvements but at this point it appears that iMPC Pro is better suited for actual recording because of zero lag and stability. iMPC Pro 2 appears to be only good for toying around at this point.

I have both iMPC Pro and Pro 2 on my 2nd gen iPad pro. All is up to date. I don’t get it. How is the old, seemingly obsolete iMPC Pro outperforms iMPC Pro 2 when it comes to actual recording?
I own the pc version,
Quantize adds distracting delay while recording performance
I won’t spend too much time reviewing as half the time my reviews never show up, but I will say that this app has some great sounding packs and an interesting approach to creating tracks. While I am not a fan of sequencing any full production in a scene based arrangement , I do like using it for it’s percussion and one hits in audiobus.

Now the real problem. If you want to record your performance while quantize is active you are in for a real distraction. For some reason if you press a pad it will play the off-time sound, and then also play the quantize sound. This makes it impossible to keep timing solid as it sounds like a delay. The only other choice is recording with quantize off, but then you need to spend all of your time quantizing notes manually. It’s a real chore that prevents me from rating this 4 stars.

They need to fix this as it has been like this for months.
MKSP89,
None of the iMPC pro apps have been stable
I’ve been using this app since before they added pro to the name. I was real excited about the update and went and bought a 12.9” iPad to really take advantage of it. I wish I would of saved my money. Since version 1 of iMPC pro this app has rarely been reliable. You just never know what’s going to make it crash! As of this date I still can’t save my chops to the pads. Crashes every single time! And the last update was at least 3 months ago! Theres always something that will crash this app. Mark my words. And now I hear they’re coming out with an iPhone version before making sure the iPad version was straight. This could be a great app but the constant (and I do mean constant) crashing will drive even the most patient person insane. There are too many other music making apps in the store to suffer thru the headaches of this one.
