Influent is a Language Learning Game focusing primarily on vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation. It was initially developed in Japan at the University of Tsukuba's Entertainment Computing Laboratory under the Monbukagakusho Government Research Scholarship.
Inspired by Dreamcast titles of old (namely Shenmue and Toy Commander) Influent immerses players in a fully interactive 3D environment where the names for absolutely every object in the game can be gleaned with a single tap! In fact, even more information can be learned with a double-tap! Every door, drawer, and cabinet can be opened with a tap-and-hold, revealing more things to be learned! Packed to the brim with hundreds of native audio pronunciations (painstakingly recorded specifically for this game), Influent offers players of all ages a unique opportunity to enjoy learning both vocabulary and pronunciation in the language of their choice.

Has Potential
I am stuck in a state where I am supposed to pretend my character is doing some sort of Twitch-like streaming of going around the house and clicking on objects (I guess, that’s just what I’m getting from the bee character’s dialogue when I open the game). Once the 15 minute timer is up, nothing happens. No idea how to get to the minigames, and I teach UI at a university…

So, I think this app has a lot of potential. I am just not sure how to get to it, and it would be great if additional environments were added. I’d be willing to pay .99 per environment per language, and there are a few languages getting studied in my home.

Unskippable Tutorial
I like the idea of practicing vocabulary in a 3D environment and the touch controls are fine. My main problem with this game is that you can’t skip the tutorial. I believe it would help if I had not played other 3D games for the iPad and the steam version of this game. But since I had, I find the tutorial annoying. It gets worst if you want to try practicing other languages, since you have to play the tutorial every time you start a new save and you can’t save until you complete it. Outside of that, the only other complaint I have is the lack of controller support.

For some reason the app bugs out and refuses to do anything on the part where you have to tap the middle tab for the book.

Great
I love this app. A great app that has so many useful vocab words. I didn’t know any French before getting it and now I’ve mastered 59 words in 4 days. (It would be 60, but see issue below). It’s so easy to play and very rewarding. 10/10 thanks for a great game!
I’m having a little tiny issue where I can’t get one of the words right even though I’m clicking on the correct object. It’s the French word “lourd” for heavy and it’s the dresser. I’ve tried clicking several places on the dresser and it’s wrong every time 😩😩 any suggestions?

Essential.
As someone who is trilingual, vocabulary building is an essential part of the language learning process and Influent nails it. Super fun and interactive way to start learning a new language and/ or improve on one you already speak. The native pronunciation on each language is really helpful to learn to speak like the locals.

Daily Vocab
Plan on using this as a daily vocabulary tool to practice Italian and Japanese. Walk around a 3d house, click on everything and anything for the game to break the word phonetically and add it to your vocabulary list. Multiple mini games to test your word list, plus you can fly around in a sweet jet with lasers. Pew pew.

Great for learning
Amazing idea to have a 3d environment to help lean a language. Helps with visual users to learn vocabulary flash cards based in your comfort zone. A number of the language packs are free and don’t require additional purchases.

Influent is a fun vocabulary learning game with loads of language packs. Using a virtual environment, you can explore and learn visually, contextually and hear the words read aloud. Exciting to see the game on iphone!
