HANGARS

Another little update with mostly bugfixes, and a wee surprise.

Changes
• Fixed inventory management screen for the lucky few who have more than 100 items.
• Fixed AI losing the plot sometimes after a couple rounds.
• Fixed an issue with controller navigation in the loadout screen
• Fixed a bug with the MIRV missile trait that would have them just stop after splitting.
• Fixed issues with Flak being absolutely ineffective as of the latest build. Now it's proper dangerous
• Fixed an issue where Interdictors weren't doing their job. Now, they do. :)
• For the past couple of weeks friendly voice comms have been jammed by Commonwealth Saboteurs. This has been rectified.
• The Marauder (bomber)'s missile massacre ability has been fixed so that it now fires
⁃ it's reload time has also been reduced from 45 seconds to 30.
• Removed the minimal UI option from settings as it only served to make the hull bar look weird.
• and therefore, fixed the issue with the weird looking hull bar.
• Made a couple little changes to the ship select screen in prep for something.

Bugfixin'

Just a quick update to address some issues that cropped up with the 1.6 update.

Changes
• AI missiles and some other projectiles (interceptor auto cannons for instance) had a collision range equal to their flyby noise radius, meaning they'd hit you at extreme ranges. This has been fixed, though I think the game might be too easy now.
• Fixed issue where placeholder UI would appear after winning a round.
• Fixed a soft lock in "Manage attachments" that would send the player into a loop between two screens
• Fixed Lance Frigates and the Arbiter's lance guns.
• Various other small UI fixes
• various fixes to AI Frigates / capitals ability to acquire targets.
• Removed all instances of friendly fire, including on collision.
• Lances do damage to terrain now.

The Big Refactor

So since the game released, I've been adding more and more features to it, and over time that's been forcing the engine to chug a little on even the most powerful devices. I decided to stop that with this patch and go back to fix the fundamentals, bringing the game back to a nice performative state.
The root cause of this was tracking down a nasty bug that caused crashes over extended playtime, which now has thankfully been fixed. Beyond that there's also major performance gains in the games AI, projectile systems, navigation systems and structural fixes across the board that means the game should perform way better than it did in the previous patch.
The flip side to this is that the game isn't quite going to be the same as it was before. Lots of little changes add up to make it feel a little different. I hope it's not too bad, but do let me know!
One major difference is that I've had to turn off Combat Trials for the foreseeable future. They weren't providing the type of gameplay I wanted, and honestly were mostly just a broken cheesy way to grind loot. So until I can figure out how to make them work the way I intended, they'll be disabled.

Thanks for all the patience waiting for this patch, It's been a long time coming, and I hope it was worth it.

Changes
• Objectives tutorial is now a little easier
• Haptics button now isn't visible on iPads
• Yaw can be individually rebound for controllers
• Crosshair has been properly centred in world space
• New explosion effects
• Screen Space Ambient occlusion removed for lower end devices.
• Combat Trial has been shelved for the time being.
• AI fighters no longer have a limited field of view for firing at their target. (read: can fire 360)
• Friendly fire has been turned off. AI ships will no longer accidentally annihilate each other.
• AI has been tweaked in general across the board. Their routines are way simpler, but their function should be clearer now
⁃ For instance, Plasma Frigates now pack a much heftier punch, making them a primary target in earlier waves, where before they were really just a bullet sponge.

Bugs Squashed:
• Memory leak found and fixed. There should be far fewer crashes now.
• AI and player ship performance has been greatly improved. The game should run pretty well on most devices now.
• Tons of fixes to UI glitches and issues.
• Fixed persistent issues with missions in The Beyond (ice)
• Fixed issues with projectiles firing right through terrain
• Fixed AI takeover breaking missions / various issues with AI takeover
• Fixes to Utilities not firing properly under certain circumstances
• Fixes to capital ships movement
• Lots of fixes to a ton of underlying systems
• fixed default UI scale being too small.
• Fixes for soft locks on Control remaps for controller
• Fixes for copy across the game.

Performance, Performance, Pariah...?

Given the lack of features in the last update, there's a relatively big one in this update.
ENTER THE PARIAH:
A light, nimble scout ship that packs a punch, the Pariah has a mini jump drive as it's ability on a fast cooldown, allowing it to quickly manoeuvre around the field sowing chaos and destruction wherever it flies. All this power comes at the cost of a fleet beacon, Pariah's aren't known for roaming in groups.

There's also another round of hefty performance improvements in this build, with a new look for pilots, changes to ship materials and a slight rework of the game's hangar view. All of this has been edited to bring down its impact on the games performance.

The bomber has also gotten a bit of love with a new missile salvo ability that you'll have to check out.

New Features
• New look for pilots, hangar, and some other bits and bobs.
• New bindings available for reloading individual weapon groups for controllers.
• New setting for single click mice
• Added yaw as a binding for controllers.
• Most player ships have been renamed

Updated Features
• Updated UI + Graphics to hopefully improve performance some.
• Cleaned up input code a bit
• Added SFX to bomber missile massacre ability
• Made ship to ship collisions less janky (especially for the player)

Bugs Squashed:
• Mission menu now only animates in once per session.
• Fixed issues around players targeting capital ships and stations.
• Fixed mission update banner from appearing wherever it pleased.
• Fixed missing icon for loot in tutorials
• Fixed Vulcan idle noise doubling up over time
• Fixed Pilot animations having slidey feet (sorta)
• Re-added a visual bar timer for mission time
• Mission time and loot icons no longer overlap
• Tutorial health indicator is now properly aligned
• Fixed a bug where the enemy direction line would hang around when switching to radar mid game
• removed legacy option for AppleTV Remote (hasn't been supported since pre-launch, but icons would appear on appleTV)
• Fixed bug that had music always playing in the menu, despite having it's volume set to zero.
• A metric ton of other tiny tweaks.
• Fixed a handful of AI issues.

Performance, Performance, Performance

I've noticed there's a bunch of reports of crashes, so I've been trying to track them down as a priority. There's no guarantee this patch will fix them definitively but it certainly should help the game perform a bit better.

New Features
• None whatsoever.

Updated Features
• niet.

Bugs Squashed:
• Large performance enhancement for the Radar
• Some upgrades to general performance as well.
• hopefully I've fixed the crash issues.

Lance Love

1.504 continues the thread of the 1.5 builds with more bug fixes, and more general improvements. It also comes with a new weapon, the Mirrored Lance Weapon.

New Features
• Mirroed Lance, an epic tier lance weapon that can slice through enemy ships at a reasonable distance.

Updated Features
• Lances general rebalanced across the board. Now have slightly longer range, properly auto target, and have longer reload times to compensate for the buff.

• Fix for lances not damaging capitals and frigates.
• Player can no longer bail from a combat trial

• Fixed an issue with pressing the back button on the endgame screen.
• fixed a ton of bugs for landscape UI on iPhones
• and a ton more fixes

Uh whoops

One issue leads to another and rushing out to get the tutorial fixed meant I accidentally also sent an update live that wasn't quite ready for prime time, leading to a host of new bugs introduced.

Combat Trials

The highlight feature of this update is the introduction of the Combat Trial mission type. It'll be a permanent fifth option for missions alongside the regular daily trio, and the Endless run.
Combat Trials will pit you 1v1 against an AI (no, this isn't multiplayer) KRS pilot. Unlike your regular Commonwealth grunts, this enemy will be equipped with the same ships and load outs that you get access to. That means they'll be able to hit you with a railgun from across the map, or dodge out of the way of your shots.
Winning a combat trial gives you a significant loot reward, and keeping a high streak of wins grants you access to more powerful foes, and better loot. Lose, and you go back to the bottom rung.
Alongside the new mission type, there's also a hefty amount of changes to various interface elements, including some quality of life improvements for various screens.
With this update there's also been a ton of under the hood work to make future updates easier ... relatively speaking, including some final steps before implementing localisation, more news on that later.

Also the inventory has been upped from 60 to 400. Enjoy!

New Features
• Combat Trial Mission Type
• Combat Trial "Wireframe" environment
• Accept all / Deny all in game over screen for loot.
• Inventory space increased from 60 to 400.
• New UI graphics for cockpit ui

Updated Features
• iPad Mini 6th gen fullscreen support
• Performance improvements to UI elements across the board.
• Increased minimum level of resolution for lower end iOS devices.
• Moved discord link to main menu
• Many minor improvements across the board.
• Updated credits to include our new tester, and a thanks to a member of the community for helping out with some UI design.

Bugs Squashed:
• An absolute ton of typos have been squashed
• Fixed settings version number so that... it actually shows the right version.
• iPads now have proper UI scaling.... somehow that never got enabled.
• Fixed dodge buttons showing up on the bomber
• ships in the load out screen should properly reflect changes made to them once more.
• Anti Missile systems were completely broken before, are now no longer broken!
• and way more.

Missile Cosplay

It's been a minute hey. In Australia we've been back in lockdown since June, and personally I've had to spend a lot more time looking after my kid than I expected I would be, but any who, here's the long promised Feature Drop #4: Ramming Speed.

This update introduces a new ship: The Sabre. Like the Interloper and Interceptor, it has the standard loadout options of two guns, two utils and a fleet beacon slot, unlike these ships it has a high forward momentum, and slightly slower turning rate, and instead of the dodge ability, it comes with the Ramming Speed ability. It drops reinforced plating over the cockpit, making the ship effectively invulnerable for a short duration whilst simultaneously applying a free afterburner. Any ship that's collided with during this period takes massive damage. It's good in a pinch for finishing Frigates or Capital ship components, or to get through a barrage or even to deal with pesky missiles.

Along with the new ship there's also a trio of new missions: In the beyond. These take place in a new icy environment on the outskirts of the system. Keep an eye out for them in the mission rotations.

Updated Features
• New Ship: Sabre
• New Missions
• Updated Collision models
• Updated Capital ship AI
• UI: Dots for ammo per bullet
• Updated Pilot Select screen
• Added [REDACTED]
• Updated some destruction and explosion effects
• Lance frigates should be a little scarier now
• Increased CWTH Fighter and Frigate Shield strength
• Ai now have routine to return to battle if they get yeeted.
• Targeting Capital ships should be easier when close up now.

Bugs Squashed:
• Carriers now have a hard limit on total existing spawned ships. Should solve the issue of Battle Group spawning unlimited fighters.
• Ok definitely certainly fixed the issue where cap ships + frigates randomly jumped around (definitely this time)
• Drastically fixed a lot of colliders on environments + ships
• Ability cool downs should now be visible on Desktop / TV / when using controller on mobile.
• tons more smaller bugs.

Pilot Update v2

Ok this release introduces some sweeping changes to the way the Pilot System works within Interloper:

I never thought you'd be unlocking all the perks so quickly (I think someone messaged me in less than 24hrs after the original pilot update launch saying they'd hit the bug where you couldn't play the game if you'd earned all the perks) In fact I thought it'd take weeks, even months.

Ever since then I've been a little dissatisfied with the state of the Pilot system. It doesn't really feel like much of a "game" as it does just.. lacklustre achievements with, well.. perks.

So! This update will change it up a bit.
• You get five Perk Slots
• Wounds Occupy perk slots
• You have to activate perks (move them from your library into a slot) to use it.
• Epic perks can be sacrificed to remove a wound!
• Your current perks (and wounds) are shown on the loadout screen.

Yes this means you no longer get to use ALL THE PERKS ALL THE TIME, so it's technically a downgrade. What I'm hoping for though is that this adds a little more thinking to the game and makes choosing your loadout a little more interesting.

Updated Features
• New Perk and Pilot System
• New UI for Pilot view
• Updated UI for Loadout view
• AI Obstacle evasion has been improved a wee bit (still dumb, but hopefully less dumb and less inefficient on battery than the old system)
⁃ Fixed bug with Static Rounds

Bugs Squashed:
• Fixed the missing dodge buttons in tutorial
• Pausing when warping out no longer continues warp countdown
• Fleet of Dreadnoughts no longer spawns in "Pitched Battle" missions

oops

Not really much of an update today, more of a oh no that thing was broken better fix it fast patch.
My implementation of iCloud saves has been.. not amazing.. to say the least since launch, and with the last update, it kinda looks like I broke new players altogether.
So after fixing that particular issue, I decided to implement a more detailed save control page for anyone having issues, with an additional little debug feature.

To sum up: sorry. I messed that last one up.

Updated Features
• Replaced "Play Tutorial" button in settings with "Save Game Details" which leads to a new page with new options for handling your save state.

Bugs Squashed:
• You should be able to complete the tutorial and the game should save now?!
• Maybe fixed the broken discord link?

Content Drop: Big Ships

Ok so for this drop we've got something absolutely huge.

KRS Capital ships.

So since launch I've been rather unhappy with the existing epic level fleet choices. This content drop looks to remedy that by switching them out with two new ships and a rework to the Assault Carrier. So without further ado:
Assault Carrier is now purely a fleet support ship. Its spawn rate is doubled and mostly brings in offensive ships now.
Arbiter is a ball of Close Quarters death. with T W E N T Y weapon systems distributed around its hull, half auto cannons, half capital lance beams, it's designed to be placed in the heart of battle where it can tear enemy ships of all sizes to shreds.
Dreadnought is the KRS's answer to the Commonwealth Missile Frigates, but.. you know.. bigger. My initial feeling was to equip this with 12 nuke launchers, but that made the game explosively unplayable, so enjoy 12 rapid fire heavy missile launchers.
There's also a new Fleet Beacon that's incredibly rare, which is the KRS FLEET GROUP, effectively, it brings in a group of three, randomly picked, capital class ships.
So to be clear, these replace the existing epic fleet options. Which means if you've already got the fighter fleet or the other one I never remember, then you'll have these shiny new ships now. If not, then happy grinding!
This release also includes a bunch of tweaks and fixes as always!

Updated Features
• Fleet Replaced: Fighter Fleet → Arbiter
• Fleet Replaced: Frigate Fleet → Dreadnought
• Fleet Updated: Assault Carrier
• Fleet Added: KRS Fleet Group
• Feature Added: filter weapons by damage / range / type or name
• Dark backgrounds have been added to all buttons with low contrast.
• Setting Added: Render Scale
Bugs Squashed:
• Fixed Enemy fighters retreating from the player off into the depths of space.
• Fixed TVOS controller icons not being quite right
• Fixed Warp out time being frame dependant.
• Replaying the tutorial is no longer a painful experience that forces you to scuttle your pilot.
• Missile weapons had a massive overhead, causing lots of lag in late game large battles
• AI also had a ton of overhead doing the same as above.
• Optimised game render scale.

Content Drop: Countermeasures & Assault Weapons

Here’s the first of what I’m hoping will be many minor content drops coming this year. Alongside the usual feature tweaks, improvements and whatnot, I’m adding a couple new attachments to the game, namely:
Countermeasures, A set of common to rare utilities that drop a protective screen of flak behind your ship, handy for dealing with incoming missiles, or pesky light fighters.
Heavy Burst Autocannon A rare weapon that I thought I’d added to the game yonks ago but somehow didn’t make it into the loot drop lists? It’s a Heavy Autocannon, and it fires in bursts!
Assault Gun An epic weapon that fires gargantuan bullets at a good clip. Good for turning frigates and capital parts into scrap quickly, though less useful against small fighters.
Burst Assault Gun I think you get the idea here.

Updated Features
• All loot items and attachments now have a label to show their rarity
• 24fps frame rate option added for low end devices. 120fps option added for iPad Pro + Mac devices. Frame rate is now a toggle option from 24fps to 120fps.
• Bug reporter moved to an external google form as my internal trello api reporter was crashing for some users.
• Links to roadmap changed from Trello to Notion
• Added link to my Patreon Blog.
• Added a unique icon for Anti Missile Systems.. somehow didn't do that when I added them..

Bugs Squashed:
• Fixed layout issues with attachment info card on iPad / landscape views.
• Fixed issue with text being cutoff in warp button on iPad / 4:3 displays
• Fixed some minor text errors
• Fixed audio control issues in settings

Hotfix-4
Wooooooooo. Just a couple extra bug fixes. From everything I can see, this update should fixe the stubborn bug where some users cannot get past the main menu. Please let me know ASAP if that's not the case.

Bugs Squashed:
• Interdictors... didn't work properly before? Once you killed one the rest were rendered moot. That's no longer the case.
• Should have fixed some edge cases where an interdictor warps in after the player initiated warp out, which would stop the player getting loot.
• Loot Manifest page UX / UI improvements in landscape (particularly for notched iPhones.)
• Touch controller remap should work as advertised now.
• Fixed a couple spelling mistakes
• Reduced sensitivity for page swipe action in the main menu.
• Collision Warning should no longer show up in control remap.

Hotfix-2
Was in the middle of working on a couple minor features this week, so when these soft-lock bugs started appearing I had to quickly but carefully wrap them up. Sorry for taking so long to get this patch out!

Updated Features
• When the player is out of map bounds they no longer exit the round, but rather are warped back to the middle of the map.
• Swipe navigation added to the main menu.

Bugs Squashed:
• Reverted work on save system. This should fix the issue where the main menu locks up for newer players (I'm so sorry about this one)
• Fixed a bug in tutorial where controls will lock up if the player opens the settings menu a couple times.
• Fixed a bunch of UI bugs for landscape view on newer iPhones.
• Ship stats no longer stretch across the whole screen in ship select view
• Speed label is no longer obscured by the bombers centre console.
• Fixed graphic glitch with tutorial indicators
• pressing "back" in loadout will no longer take you to sub loadout screens
• Version text in settings is now correctly displayed
• Nukes now explode more reliably.

Just a quickie hot fix for the following bugs:

Bugs Squashed:
• Sometimes low sensitivity stops player entering game (how was this still a thing?)
• In portrait mode, mission cells don't quite autoscroll properly. (now they're very well behaved)
• Missiles no longer exploded (my previous optimisation was too strong!)

Welcome to the **Pick your Fighter** update.

The *Interceptor* takes the same loadout options as the *Fighter* (the default ship you're all very familiar with) but has no shields, and is incredibly fast and nimble. Speed is your biggest asset here, the ability to quickly dodge in and out of dogfights, rapidly return for strafing runs and escape to cover will counteract your lack of protection.

The *Bomber* is an absolute tank of a ship, with a slower top speed, thrust capacity and turn speed than the *Fighter*, but nearly double the hull and shields, it can take an absolute punishing. This added protection comes at the cost of the ability to dodge, so AMS / Flak will be your best friend whilst piloting this beast. The *Bomber* lives up to its name by having a twin-linked weapon slot, which is to mean, when you equip this slot, it gives you a second, free, identical weapon.

These ships will be available from the loadout menu, and require no unlocking / no extra costs. Just pick the ship that works for you best!

All in all this is a pretty huge change to the way Interloper is played, but this update contains a bunch of other goodies too.

Gameplay Changes
• New: Pick from three fighters to better suit your gameplay style.
⁃ Fighter (default and original)
⁃ Interceptor (fast, no shields)
⁃ Bomber (tank, no dodge, twin linked guns)
• New: Radar Enemy Indicator
• AI Improvements
⁃ AI form Squadrons, warp in together and generally act as a unit.
⁃ AI are more reactive to combat, will dodge more often and attempt to break out of combat if things look bad.

System Changes
• Fixed Timestep reduced to 30fps, game runs at 60fps (decoupled physics from rendering to improve performance.)
⁃ This affected most timers in the game (reloads, fleet arrivals, enemy spawn time, etc) but I'm 99% sure all have been corrected.
• All ship models have been heavily optimised to reduce draw calls / load on graphics card.
• Particles have been optimised to reduce draw calls / transparency overlays.
• Menus improved for Controller navigation.
⁃ Scrolling with controller no longer snaps scroll-views, but rather smooth moves.
⁃ Back icon highlighted for controllers.
• Drift flight is now the standard method of flight. (old method removed)
• New Options added to settings
⁃ Added thematic sectioning (Controls, UI, etc.)
⁃ Settings that are platform dependant (i.e. "haptics" or "resolution") now only show on the relevant platform, instead of disabling.
⁃ Control sensitivity is now based on the current active controller. I.e. on mobile, touch, when a controller is connected, it's for controller.
⁃ Yaw / Roll Renamed.
⁃ Invert X option added
⁃ GUI Scale option added
⁃ Resolution menu added to graphics (Mac only)
⁃ Windowed mode added to graphics (Mac Only)
⁃ Enemy Indicator options added
• Analytics removed.
• Tutorial pages are now scrollable + animated.
• Moved Pilot view into hangar (looks better imo.)
• Optimised rendering for UI by sub-canvasing elements.
• In Loadout, pressing "modify" no longer removes attachment.
• New menu backgrounds

Bugfixes

• Remap controls for landscape now works nervous look
• Weapons now properly adhere to left / right in Loadout.
• Pick pilot intro UI background actually fills the screen now.
• Fixes to layout in Pick Pilot intro (overlapping elements)
• Unified resolutions for UI in menu and game (noticeable in the remap controls segment on touch)
• Pilot stats made more legible.
• White blank indicator for controller should no longer show up.
• Enemy fighters no longer fling themselves off into the great beyond. (or .. if they do, they'll explode.)
• Adding an attachment to your ship in loadout no longer makes weapons animate in rapidly.
• Scroll views should no longer bounce like mad on controller.
• Afterburner haptics pulled back into line. (It went for like 5 seconds compared to the 1 second burn? idk game dev is hard.)

EStew2,
So much potential, but bugs make it unplayable.
I’ve been really enjoying the controller support. Makes me feel more comfortable on harder missions. Until the game crashes…I can play easy missions just fine. Once I go into a medium, the game almost always crashes after clearing a few waves. I once got to the very end of a mission, into the perk selection screen, and the game CRASHED. I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro, graphics turned down to low, FPS at 30, enemy indicators set to radar only. This shouldn’t be happening… There’s something goin on with the rail gun too. Every time it fires the screen jerks out and back in. Very disorientating, and I have screen shake set to zero. I paid the full price for a game that just crashes every time I play it, and I can’t even enjoy the true potential of the graphics because that’ll just make it crash faster I feel like. Very frustrating.

Please fix. I want to love. I want this to be my go-to controller game.
Pillow Man DX,
Weird bugs?
I’ll keep it short. All carrier capitol ships are broken. The ship doesn’t load right, and dies almost immediately. It has to targetable hit box. This causes a soft lock, and makes it so you can’t complete certain missions at all. And, Ships just… take damage? Seems like it happens when they are far away. Finally, if you escape a combat trial, and click on the “claim items” button, you get the “Threatening Lance Beam”, with the description in Latin and the stats maxed out at 12,000. You can’t claim it though. Other than that, cool game! Also, could you change combat trials a bit? It’s biased towards the AI. Even if you win, their weapon shots can still kill you, and it counts it as a loss. Like, I can win, but the railgun shots still there. And it hits me and I die, losing the match I should of won. Final thing I promise. Missiles have no hit box when fired, making close up fights harder so the missiles just circle the thing I fired at. Lances don’t hit at their farthest range, even when pointed straight at a frigate. Or it’s just the frigates. Have a great day, and good luck!

Edit: Seems fine now. Pretty good job, and I hope you haven’t burnt out doing all these updates.
jkeitz,
Want to like it, but... (updated)
Latest Update (the developer keeps updating the game 😁): Now it’s awesome! The tutorial works, but I’ve kinda got it now. Definitely a 5 star game now.

Update: quick developer response, still have high hopes. Discovered that by inverting the axis and pitch/yaw controls (something I never do, but it helps here) I can actually get somewhere with the game. I’ll keep at it...

I really want to enjoy this game, but the tutorial appears to be broken so I’m a little lost. I get to the point where it tells me to push the throttle to accelerate, which I do, but the message just stays there. So I fly along, eventually find something to kill, auto guns take it out, and I still have the instruction to accelerate. After about 20 minutes of that, I bailed on the tutorial and tried figuring it out myself. Not much luck there. Bumble around, auto-kill anything that gets in your sights until some missiles take you out. I’ll keep at for awhile, but if that’s all there is I don’t see myself playing this much.
Zocasey,
Amazing game, but could use some balance
Firstly, this is one of the more entertaining FPS games that I’ve played and certainly worth the money. The graphics are a little rustic, but in my opinion that only adds to the character of the game; straightforward and action packed. Secondly; I think there are many things that this game could include, but doesn’t. But it is a recently released game and NO game produced by independent developers is complete upon release. My first suggestion is adding a third utility slot. On the easier game runs, I’ve been destroyed within seconds of warping into the battle by missiles, plasma bombardments, and enemy fighters. Even after using a shield boost and repair upgrade. Having an afterburner or warp utility upgrade is necessary in all battles IMO, leaving only one other utility slot for other essential upgrades. Adding an additional slot, I think, would help balance the game.

Also, there is a bug on some transport missions, that causes the transporter to get stuck on an asteroid.

Thanks for making such an awesome game!
R@nd0mR3v1er,
Two things! (update)
Both of the main issues I listed below were fixed. Thank you! You’re really fast with the updates. Watch out for power and feature creep man!

Original review for context:

The big issue first. The game does not save, at least for me. Once the tab gets closed, either purposely or the game crashes, you lose all progress and are booted back to the tutorial all over again. The other thing is the lag once you get decently far in the endless mode, which made me crash once I warped out. But those are my only major problems with the game. Everything else is absolutely fantastic! When I first got it I played the daily missions given over and over, they don’t get old fast. It’s just the no saving that makes this review. Not fun losing your items and having to get them all over again. Unless it’s a rouge-like but I’m not sure that’s what this game is.
Donuts4Devin,
Fun game, but some concerns/suggestions
First of all, I really like this game. Unique, immersive, and intense. I downloaded it not too long ago, but I have already encountered some bugs.

Edit: A few hours after I wrote this, the developer released an update for the game and addressed many of the concerns.

(ADDRESSED) Sometimes the game would just end unexpectedly, leaving me confused. It doesn’t reward loot either when this happens. Sometimes I get stuck in warp, and I have to restart the game. This also leads to me not getting any loot.

(ADDRESSED) I think there should be some sort of “mission report” at the end of every game. It would make dying a little more apparent, instead of just getting thrown back into the menu.

Along with that, I think there should be some form of pilot progression, where the player can earn XP for their efforts. At the moment, it doesn’t feel like progress if I get bad RNG and end up with no good loot. Like maybe when the player “levels up”, they get some minor stats and perks. Some confirmed progress would be helpful.

I know this is a long response, but this game has so much potential. It’s perfectly set up for multiplayer too, but if you decide to add multiplayer, please don’t take away players’ loot if they die in MP. It would discourage the mode too much. Thanks for reading this and I hope you decide to implement some of these suggestions.
Gameboy5Life,
Keeps being better (re-review)
Gotta re-write this review because the updates really saved it for me. I love the inclusion of more progression between runs. Specifically, the pilot perks are game changing and it keeps me playing. I highly recommend messing around with the game controls. I find myself toggling the “Yaw/Roll” and “Drift Style Flight” options regularly to change up the experience. The only negative aspect of the game is still performance and heating on higher graphics and frame rate settings, but it’s no longer an issue for me with the added lower graphics settings.

All-in-all, it’s become a well crafted game and you can easily see the passion and care put into every detail. Hope it continues to update in the future. I know personally I would buy ship and pilot cosmetics just to support further feature development.
Jeremy1julia,
Not only a game, but A PROMISE as well.
Mechanics are superb. Flying and fighting feels natural and the controls are very intuitive. The UI layout in combat is simple, but not lacking in versatility at all. Very appealing to the eye and fun to use with one hand or two; not to mention landscape or portrait being changeable on the fly.

I’d say, for me, the best aspect of the game is the immersiveness. I love love love the haptic feedback. From the guns to using boosters, getting shot at, or even activating that warp drive you get to feel all of it. Mixed in with fantastic well placed audio cues and stunning visuals......
Welcome to *THE* space flight combat simulator. (Don’t pass it up)

Edit:
I reported a few bugs and even left some out. The developer was caring enough to reach out personally and assure me that a fix was on the way. Within a week or two, they got the game working fantastic. Can’t find a problem now.

From 2 stars to five and well deserved.

OldProblem long since FIXED:
Many things i love about this game. But the one thing i hate is how its broken :(.

I run iphone x and when i reach those final waves with many entities spawning and bullets everywhere my game drops to like 2 fps. Happy bug hunting. Ill be waiting.

I wana ENJOY THIS GAME!!! >_<
Fat Salmon Creative,
Lefties?
I really enjoy this game and I am looking forward to the Roadmap updates, especially the purposes ship customization and campaign updates. It’s exciting to purchase a game with an active developer. Great concept, great graphics and great execution. Experimenting with different loadouts adds a depth to the game as opposed to simply getting power ups. I’m looking forward to what comes next!

I would only ask that there be a left handed feature added so that the thruster is on the right. Also, would it be possible to make the roll buttons a little larger? I might have bad eyesight and I frequently miss the buttons when I’m not looking directly at them. Other than that small feedback I must say thanks for making this game.
Buddyvampire,
Awesome Game!!
This game is super awesome!! I love it so much that I had almost became addicted to it!! I have came up with a few ideas on how you can make the game better so that everyone will enjoy the game even more!!

-Campaign/Story Mode on any difficulty
-Custom battles
-Multiplayer gameplay modes
-New maps/environments
-Customizable Frame rates up to 120 FPS, 60 FPS, 30 FPS, or 24 FPS depending on how much your device can handle
-Weather to affect controls during gameplay. (E.g thunderstorms to make the screen shake while flying, heavy winds to blow your ship around randomly)
-Pilot changer so you can swap between previously used pilots
-New perks
-Dexterty: Rare perk, take less damage and rock less upon colliding with obstacles
-Eagle Eye: Common perk, increased radar and weapon range
-Cold-Blooded: Rare perk, projectiles from weapons move faster and are more accurate
-Berserk: Rare perk, deal more damage upon low health
-Tough Guy: Medium perk, flinch less upon hit by missiles and collisions
-Impenetrable: Medium perk, take less shield and armor damage from lance weapons
-Cool Off: Extra rare perk, all weapons have cool-down instead of reloading
