Description

Available exclusively for Netflix members.

Civilization is in peril, and it's up to you to defend it. Lead a team to save the world from alien threats in this turn-based strategy game.

The remnants of human life are threatened by giant creatures breeding beneath the earth. Carefully choose your squad of powerful pilots and mechs to protect your territory. Each attempt to engage the enemy presents a new challenge in this futuristic combat game, which PC Gamer named Ultimate Game of the Year in 2018.

Features:

• Defend cities: Civilian buildings power your mechs. Defend the structures from the enemy and watch your fire!
• Perfect your strategy: Enemy attacks are telegraphed in minimalistic, turn-based battles. Analyze your opponent's attack and come up with the perfect counter every turn.
• Build the ultimate mech: Find powerful new weapons and unique pilots as you fight alien infestations across multiple islands.
• Another chance: Failure is not an option. If you're defeated, send for help back through time to save another timeline.
• Advanced edition content: This newly expanded version of the game includes advanced weapons, mechs, pilots, enemies, missions and more.

E-Breezee,
Perfect game, but needs a few quality of life updates
Ever since it’s release on PC and Switch, Into the Breach has been one of my favorite games of all time. There’s an incredible amount of depth, strategy, and narrative packed into an 8x8 grid. Having played the PC/Switch versions for hundreds of hours, I was thrilled to see that this game was coming to mobile AND getting new content.

I love this game, but I have a few notes for future updates.

1. For whatever reason, I can’t listen to outside music or podcasts while playing the game. Whatever I’m listening to stops as soon as I open the app. The music and sound design of the game are great, but sometimes I just want to listen to a podcast while slaying Vek, you know? Please, please address this in a future update.

2. There is some bug that reverses the choice I make for new content. Sometimes, I check the boxes for the new content, but I’m stuck with the classic missions and enemies. When the new content boxes are unchecked, new enemies, missions, and weapons appear. This specific issue seems very fixable in a patch.

3. I’ve noticed a bug where the grid-defense percentage fluctuates mid-match. I’ve mostly noticed this happening in “unfair mode” when the grid-defense starts at 0%. Again, something that seems fixable in a patch.

Overall, I’m thrilled that this game is free for Netflix subscribers and finally available on mobile. If you address these issues, I will happily change my review to a solid five stars!
THANKSFORTAKINGFREEDOM,
Great port with not so great account
Amazing game made even better with the advanced edition content. Really hate the Netflix games addition, you are unable to start the game if you have no service/wifi since you can’t login to your stupid netflix games account. I would understand the login for the first time you start it, but every single time you start up the app you need to be in wifi which was very annoying for me when I was unable to do so for a week while traveling. Super hope this exclusivity is timed I would much rather pay $20 for a single purchase like FTL
ItB fan Mark,
Great for strategy fans!
I first played and fell in love with this game originally on my Switch. When I saw it was available on my iPad with a Netflix subscription I downloaded it immediately. I was weary about whether or not the controls would translate well and if it was an accurate port. Well to my surprise not only is it nearly identical to the console version but the game actually controls better with touch only controls! So much so that I now prefer to play it here rather than on my console. If you like turn based strategy games like Fire Emblem you will absolutely not be disappointed! The game is jam packed full of unlockable content via an achievements system and it’s incredibly addictive trying to get every single one. If you’re considering it enough to read the reviews then you owe it to yourself to try it out.
absant,
Great game! but...
This game is great and surprised to find out it pis available with Netflix account. I could spend hours playing this game and it's of ease of being able to pick up where you left off at any moment is definitely a plus. Also, no micro transactions! The way a single player game is meant to be played!
My one main complaint, and reason for writing this review, is that I AM UNABLE TO PLAY THIS GAME OFFLINE. I am on the plane with no internet access. I decided to kill some time by playing this game, thinking that there is no need for it to access the internet. After opening the app, it asks me to choose a profile (mine) but could not continue to the main menu because the internet is not available. Seriously? In this day in age when an authentication token could be persisted on the mobile for several days? Even I could open Netflix offline. Developers, please make this experience better. I have faith in you! You guys are great!
JFarside1,
Core game is brilliant. Netflix?
I'm only the second person to write a review - and the first was a one-star that couldn't get it to run on an iPad. So I wanted to quickly post a good review to avoid bombing (although I haven't been able to get sound working - I expect quick patching).

My five-stars is based on the ORIGINAL game, which I've played over 100 hours on Switch. It's already a deep tactical game, with a great atmosphere, compelling game loop, a fun variety of units and enemies, and constantly interesting choices. If they've added more units, enemies, environments - and upgradeable captains - then I can't wait to dig into all the advanced content.

If you're looking for thrilling experiences like XCOM, Mario Rabbids, or Fire Emblem... This is a worthy addition to your turn-based strategy collection!
erykw,
Not a game for completionists
If you’re the kind of person who likes to get a perfect score on every level and complete every mission objective in the games you play, this game is not for you. I find the game to be extremely difficult, and can really only play it on easy mode. Normal mode is basically unplayable unless you’re ok with consistently failing mission objectives and losing more often than you win. There isn’t even a way to restart a level and try again, you only get the option to completely start the whole game over.

From the other reviews, it’s clear that many people like this game, so I think it’s just that the game doesn’t match well with my particular style of game play.
Boostio,
Fun game, but one unacceptable flaw in the mobile port
For whatever reason, whenever someone calls you, the game closes itself (even if you don’t pick up). This means that you have to continue from the main menu, which wouldn’t be a big deal if it just restarted the battle, but instead it brings you back to the beginning of your turn and automatically expends your one turn reset. Annoying, but it really gets bad if you’re unlucky enough to have already used your turn reset or get called twice, because then the game considers your run over and you have to start a new game.
myrontaslov,
Kaiju Chess!
This is a really good game if you like roguelite tactics games. Unlike other random/luck based games, you can plan your moves out perfectly and not worry about your “95% to hit” moves whiffing more often than you think.

Works great on my iPhone XS. I suspect the review saying it has an error on launch is due to it releasing earlier than expected. I had that error before too but it’s working now.

You’d have to really like the genre to get a Netflix subscription just for this game, but if you have Netflix already I can recommend it pretty well
Paul-asdfghjkl,
Much too hard for casual play
Even on the easiest difficulty setting there are too many enemies for casual play. I realize some people want a very hard game to challenge them, but for me I don't want to dedicate the time and concentration.

I think there's a simple fix. If the Easy level were changed so that you don't lose reactor cores when you die it would be possible to gradually increase mech power until it's an enjoyable balance. The reason I didn't find it fun was that I kept losing all progress and replaying the same tiny amount of gameplay over and over again. Allowing the player to keep accumulating reactor cores instead of losing them every time you die would make it so that you aren't completely starting over.
Momofire,
Incredible depth, perfect fit for phone
If someone had told me years ago that Into the Breach was a game where you distill the most interesting, brain teaser strategic turns late into the heart of a chapter in Fire Emblem and ensure all battles are only those epic turns, I would have purchased this game years ago. I missed it then but I’m loving it on my phone now. Controls feel good, the music reminds me of the beautiful tones from playing FTL so many years ago. I can’t believe I slept on this game, I’m going to pay attention to this dev more, big fan.
