Description

Ions was selected by Apple as a New and Noteworthy app in February and was the #1 Entertainment app for nearly a week! Ions was then selected as a Staff Favorite in March!

Control up to 20,000 particles of light! Ions is an addictive virtual sandbox where you can create dazzling patterns in realtime. Ions runs at 60 fps and really shows off the power of the iPad. There are infinite creative possibilities with Ions - you won't be able to put it down!

Use your fingers to either paint with ions or interact with them. Place emitters to control where new ions are created and their initial speeds and directions. Then use fields to either attract or repel ions, altering their velocities.

Accelerometer support allows the ions to respond to gravity. You also have five different looks to choose from; each one completely changes the appearance of the ions. Additionally, you can save and load your favorite layouts at any time.

Len44039,
Very very cool
Love this kind of stuff. Fun... and I don’t have to kill or crash anything.
MichaelE2000,
Cooler than it looks
This is a cool app. Shows beauty on iPad if you get the emitters to go slowly and have force against the dust. Very fun, and keeps me entertained. Can also make many shapes, and all sorts of cool designs if you play around long enough and figure out how. I recommend this app. It's fun!
Insidekitty83,
Shiny!
Excellent time waster, and for the geeky, an excellent way to play with magnetic fields. What fun!
dfghio,
Awesome fun time waster!
When you need something entertaining and fun to do, look no further than to this app. I bought for $.99, and it is one of my most played apps. All around fun, and definitely worth the money. If I could make any changes, I would add arrow controls to the field pop-up controls for fine editing of the strength of the attract or repel, when playing with ions on low speeds I sometimes take 5-10 uneccesary minutes fine tuning the strength of the field. also, allowing for a raise of the ion cap would be fantastic. Test out the true capabilities, because even at 20k ion bits, the graphical abilities of the iPad don't show any strain.
Otherwise, Keep It Up!!!
Acemon,
An excellent app!
I'm not quite sure how I stumbled upon this app, but I am glad that I did. I have spent hours playing with the app, mainly trying to come up with complex patterns that keep the ions from leaving the screen (when they leave, they disappear until the emitter releases a replacement). It's an app that's full of eye-candy but has some nice physics involved. Also, to top it off, the developer is very helpful. I recommend this app to everyone I know and show it off to my friends as often as I can. Give it a chance, you really can't go wrong for the price!
ChuckD,
The best particle app...Period!
I have over 500 apps that I've downloaded since the app store opened and Ions ranks as one of the most innovative and best values of any of them. The great interface makes it easy to create some stunning particle visualizations and the app works flawlessly, never crashes and even with the maximum amount of objects, it worked great. I really can't say enough good things about it, and I would encourage anyone that has an interest in physics, fluid dynamics, or interactive art to spend the buck and be impressed by Ions!
Ice pro,
Please update with more control - *read*
I love this app - I want to be able to create a system. A hybrid of this app along with something like "electrons" app where we could assign / draw boarders with ( + or - ) charges would be fantastic. Please consider some of these suggestions and update this. Also a fun - but unnecessary feature could be 3d tv AirPlay like Vito's solar system app would be fun too.

This app has spurred countless 10's of hours of pure creative brainstorming for me. Please give us more ... Please
STL After Dark,
Better than expected
Literally, the best toy I've ever bought and well worth the price.

I would love to see a "grid, snap too grid" button or slider that would make a grid appear thereby making it easier to precisely space the emitters and force fields when your making a scene from scratch.

A "particle collision" option would be nice too ... so if you aim beams "at" each other you can get them to interact in some way.
0lympian,
Make Wall
This is my all time favorite game, but to make it just a little better you should make wall, something for the ions to hit and bounce of of. You should also allow for the player to choose the number of ions and size.

Partycles
Really cool app, I feel like there are a lot of ways to control the particles just need to figure them out. Love the designs that you can make, would like a little more conent though if it's possible but still very cool.
