WriteThatSymphony,
Helps a little, mostly torture
The functions are fine--notification sound/visual on lock screen, the app lets you see the gist of a job on its home screen, you have to click on it to know things like length of the job (end time, for example.) Easy to accept, and you can see a calendar of your jobs. The major problem I have with this: I would say that 75% of the time when I get a notification, there is no job there. I can be holding my phone, get a notification, unlock, refresh the app screen (I'll have left it open to be ready), and in those 10 seconds there is no job listed. I've also tried having the phone next to me while my computer is open, the Aesop page on a tab ready to go. I hear the notification and go to the tab (so, maybe 3 seconds?), and no job. Leaving the app on in the middle of the night, same thing--it can be 2 a.m. and there's no job when checking right away after a notification. How is this possible? Consistently? Makes me wonder about how the app really works...is there a delay, to jobs put out a "notification" when they already have someone specified? Does the app randomly send out notifications to make customers feel like it's worth it? Bottom line: it'll help you get a few jobs, and make you feel like you're missing tons for taking more than 2 seconds to get access.

Faster than sub finder but will not stick with it
This app is faster than others (probably because it's an official Aesop app) but it lacks much detail. When the job notification banner comes up I hate how I don't know anything about the job. I have to tap on "open" and even then I have to tap again on the main screen because there isn't enough info about the job. It really bothers me that I don't know what hours the opening is for as well as school, teacher, date or time. Sub assistant offers this (I just wish it was faster). It's kind of counterintuitive to what the app is for, to save time. I still have to go through all the options in order to get enough info on the job. I can't just find find out by banner if I want to even bother with the assignment. If they fixed this I would choose this over the other apps, but it seems that I will be cancelling the trial soon...

Horrible and expensive
This app should be functioning at a much higher level for the cost. I get notifications and immediately accept - only for it to say job is taken - but it still sits as available and I see it in Aesop so I can go accept there. Unfortunately most of the time I’m on the go and not able to immediately look at Aesop. Yes I have deleted and redownloaded - but the problem is still there. Doesn’t look like the app has been updated in several years. Also - my co workers and I noticed they the notifications were not working for literally a couple of months - approx Jan-Feb 2023. I contacted support and was told it was a known issue that was being looked into. No offer of refund, credit, etc. when it was finally fixed they wanted to close my ticket - I insisted on some compensation- so they added a month to my subscription- but that isn’t something I should have to ask for - it should be done AUTOMATICALLY for everyone who was affected. Basically were taking customers money when they knew the app wasn’t working and didn’t do anything about it. I will say that the support people try to be helpful and are friendly. The problems are more with the mechanics of the app and obviously with the corporate side who doesn’t care about crediting customers who are paying a lot of $

Awful
Would give it a 0 star if it was an option. I went 2 years finding sub jobs on Aesop and found jobs everyday. Another sub told me to try jobulator, so I did. Thinking that jobulator was goinf to send me alerts when a job was available, I stopped checking the Aesop site here and there for jobs. I noticed I was not getting any job notifications, which was odd because I know sub jobs are often available. However, when I get notifications the job is no longer available. I was under the assumption that every time a teacher requested a sub request then jobulator would let me know, WRONG! I decided to test it next to the Aesop site. Well long and behold, I saw jobs on Aesop sitting around waiting to be picked up and yet Jobulator is not sending me an alert. I also noticed that when I did get a jobulator alert, it was after I watched the job sit for an average of 25 minutes. Now that explained why 99.9% of the time the job was already taken when jobulator sent the alert.

So save your money and don’t bother. I find that refreshing Aesop here and there gets me jobs. Jobulator sends you alerts after a job has already been taken or when it has been sitting there forever. Which means you can just check Aesop here and there and still get more jobs than paying Jobulator for nothing.
msho1952,
So many problems for substitutes
“It is not designed to be a competitive edge” is right in the description. It “may not” have been designed for that, but please know that it can be one.
It can also be a nightmare when trying to accept jobs. I have gotten a message that a job is no longer available and have been able to accept the job because I refused to concede that it was no longer available and kept clicking. A common numbers of tries is around seven, but I wanted to find out just how many times I would have to click one Saturday morning when I knew I was the only math substitute who should be seeing the job. Exactly 600 clicks later, it allowed me to accept the job. Convenient? Not really.
Now it has stopped syncing with my Apple Watch. That was a nice feature because, when it worked, I would get a silent notification. If I have my iPhone on silent mode now, the notification is just like all of the other notifications I get; so it is easy to miss them. I now keep my phone in normal mode, which means it might ring while I am in school.
The app has helped me get jobs I probably wouldn’t have gotten, so I will put up with the major inconveniences.
prettyandsassy,
Update Needed!
I have to say that I love this app. Before getting this app, There were never any jobs available because they were take. Before I ever saw they were available. Now I see them and have many assignments.

It could be improved by improving how you add it to your calendar.
1) I see that right after you accept a job, you are given the opportunity to add it to your own calendar. In fact, this is the only time you are allowed to add it and if you somehow forget to add it, then you lost your chance. You should be able to add it to your calendar at anytime, not just at this particular moment.
2) Even when I try to add t to my calendar it doesn't work. When I click to add it to my calendar, it tells me to pick what calendar I want to use, but the list is blank. My iPhone 6 has the most recent update and I have the setting on Jobulator set so that it can access my calendar.
Jewel115,
Great app
Jobulator is the only sub service out there for $40/year. I tried it on a free trial and if I got even one job I would otherwise have missed, the service was paid for. I have used it for 2 years with great success.

The app is occasionally buggy- it will ring only to immediately report the job is taken. I agree with other complaints that the only way to see specifics of the day's job is to access the Aesop calendar. The app does have a button for the Aesop calendar, but that's an extra few steps while I'm standing at a punch clock with a line behind me. It would be perfect to see my calendar right from the app so I know who I'm subbing for that day.

My big beef is that I received an email from Jobulator last week saying they stopped servicing my school district as of today. Wow, thanks for the long notice to allow me to change services! Highly unprofessional.

Could be better
The app was useful enough when I was needing to accept work daily. It was
Nice being able to accept work from an app instead of calling my school district. The times weren't always accurate on the listing and a couple times the titles weren't right either but I don't think that was the apps fault. I did get notifications a lot about jobs and I'd open the app right away and there would be nothing so that was frustrating. I think the most frustrating thing was though was when I no longer needed the app I was looking for how to cancel my subscription. I noticed the button said "log out and deactivate your account". Now I took this as deactivating your subscription but apparently not because the next month it took payment still. Turns out you have to go online and cancel from there. If you can do everything else from the app you should be able to cancel from there too.
vivaceK5,
Time is money
I’ve seen many negative reviews, but I have been very pleased with the app. Perhaps updates have helped since the negative reviews are mostly 1-2 years old. I haven’t had the technical issues others have mentioned.
Anyway, rather than being stuck to my computer, I get notifications anytime. It is true that jobs disappear fast, but that’s true with or without the app. The app just lets me know I missed it rather than being blissfully unaware. If it gives me even one day with a job or a better job, it has paid for itself. Time is money!
Lastly, I love the import to calendar feature. Not only does it include the the date and time, it also gives the teacher’s name and school address which I can easily tap to get directions.
Hildri134,
The worst customer service and business ethics
I quit subbing in February. I realized in July that an automatic payment for jobulator app was taken off of my paypal account every month. After lots of trouble I was able to contact them. I found out that jobulator doesn't even have a phone customer support. So on the day of transaction I emailed jobulator customer service asking to help me log into my account and also to issue me a refund for that month explaining my situation. It took them three days to respond to me explaining to me how to log into my account but they completely ignored my question on the refund. I emailed request for refund again. This time they emailed me to tell me that according to their policy they don't issue refund. What respectable company concerned about its reputation would do something like that? I will sub again but I'm definitely not using this app again. Goodbye jobulator!!! Hope my $6.99 a month made you rich because soon another app will get my money ... not you.
