Description

Did a swell come through where the waves, wind and tide lined up just right? Want to get a personalized report and forecast with alerts for those conditions? Make sure you remember those conditions by logging a session in Lazy Surfer.

Once you do, Lazy Surfer will alert you the next time those same conditions occur. It'll also allow you to see a 16-day personalized report and forecast so that you can plan ahead.

Features include

- Alerts for your favorite conditions

- Personalized predictions for how good the surf is going to be at all your favorite spots

- Ability to share session information with all your friends.

Lazy Surfer doesn't try to forecast nearshore conditions - if you've ever used the popular nearshore forecasting websites like Surfline and Magicseaweed you know that they are often very far off from the true conditions. Instead, Lazy Surfer uses real data from buoys to pinpoint the exact conditions that result in good waves at your favorite surf spots.

Surfline or MagicSeaweed also don't take your personal taste in waves into account - they give a one-size-fits-all rating to waves. But you might like bigger, pitchier waves whereas your friends might like mid-sized roll-ier waves. Lazy Surfer can give each of you a personalized report so that you can tell when and where it's best for you to paddle out.

Like anything worthwhile, Lazy Surfer requires some effort on your part before it pays off. The more sessions you add the better information Lazy Surfer will give you. Try adding at least 5 sessions in different conditions at a single spot. We guarantee that you'll find Lazy Surfer to be an invaluable addition to your surf forecasting arsenal.

Lazy Surfer began as a tool to help its creator, Nick Peterson, learn the intricacies of his local San Diego surf breaks. Not content with fighting the crowd at the same old beach break for every swell, he built Lazy Surfer so that he could tease out good sets of conditions at the more fickle, less popular spots along the coast. With alerts, forecasts and machine-learning powered predictions Lazy Surfer is the tool surfers need in order to score on the days when everyone else thinks it’s flat.

Tall B 123,
Great customer service/Great app more relevant information than other surf forecasting sites
I thought all the sessions I had logged over a number of months were lost when my phone died. Thankfully, when I reached out to Lazy Surfer, Nick, the maker of the app, personally responded and helped me retrieve my lost sessions and was extremely nice about it. This was the best customer service experience I have ever had with an app. Furthermore, the Lazy Surfer app is great and provides more specific and relevant information for the user because the information is personalized and takes into account what conditions you have enjoyed at a specific spot and integrates it with current and future forecasts. I highly recommend Lazy Surfer as it takes the old school surf log/recording wind and buoy data and makes it way more simple, intuitive, and powerful in an easy to use and simple interface on your phone.
kook dodger,
Well executed and some great minds behind it all
This app gives you more as you put in more! I love the idea of using data from your favorite sessions to predict the best days to surf your favorite spots. It has made it a lot easier for me to decide where to go, especially during swells that are pumping at several locations at once. Keep in mind, forecasting is difficult and just an “estimate” so it may not always be perfect. This app has always given me the best predictions tho

Also, you can tell how much Nick has poured into this app. He listens to feedback, is very responsive when I have issues, and is overall very dedicated to helping the surf community with this. 11/10 for all of his hard word!
Free stars,
More specific than surfline
Surfline gives you a general idea but a lot of the times the fair or poor or whatever forecast doesn’t reflect the quality of waves at your specific spot. Using this app I've been able to find days where surfline says poor and i know it will be good. Most people just look at surfline so it was relatively empty but the waves were perfect for what i like. This app tells you how good the waves are based on past experiences with that specific mix of conditions not based on a generalized local report with some minor spot specific considerations.
Geometry dash person,
My new go to
Nothing is worse than checking Surfline being all exited to surf then getting to the beach and it being flat. I’ve only been using The Lazy surfer for a short time, but so far it holds up pretty well and I haven’t been disappointed. I still check Surfline and magicseaweed occasionally just because I haven’t been on this new app for long and I don’t wanna miss a good set but I would recommend this to anyone looking for good waves.
luciafer,
Better than Surfline
Unlike Surfline, this app gives you exact predictions on any place. I love how you can choose the exact location not like Surfline where you only have a select amount. It is great because it also gives you everything you could think of. You could also keep track of your sessions which could be really helpful for some people. Overall love this app it is just a bit confusing on the layout and I’m still learning how to fully use all the utilities.
rob----11123,
Awesome
This app is excellent because once you start to log data, you can see when conditions are the way you like them. Surfline is a perpetual disappointment for anything beyond cameras. This is a personal way to get insights into when conditions are good—-based on your own input and data.

It’s a great way to use the data that comes off the buoys and put it all in a place where it is presentable and user friendly.

Hope to be using this one for a long time!!
jglawrie,
Spot On!
Just getting started with this App. Loaded in my local spots and they were found without issues. I haven’t loaded any sessions yet (too cold) but, I am already noticing subtle differences and nuances in the reports and forecasts vs. the usual surf apps. A lot of details but super easy to read and reports are very consistent with what I see on the webcams for my spots. Hope to get some real sessions soon and see where it takes me!
Jeirhhbeue,
👍
Haven’t tested out how accurate the conditions are on the app yet but I really like how in-depth this app seems to be so far. The ability to log past sessions and track similar conditions in the future is a game changing addition, now to say if this is accurate or not i can’t yet confirm but so far this app is my new go to and I will update my review once I log more sessions and determine its accuracy.
kook of the hour,
Why I gave a 4 out of 5
At first it was hard to use but it’s not your fault the app is still really knew but once u get used to it and it’s really not that hard to use. I honestly love it the forecast sometimes won’t be 100 percent correct but I mean no surf reader is correct. This app is actually better then surf line cause it’s free even though there’s no wave cam yet it’s still a awesome app. I think people need to give some suggestions I really want a surf cam later on
Styve,
Great tool for finding better waves
Check out this app. It really helps you track great sessions with good waves. And just as important, those bad days. Once you get some sessions stored, you can go back and see what makes your spot go. Best swell angle, tide, wind direction and also see when those conditions are coming back your way. Make sure you get some good data in the app to make it most effective.
