"I downloaded several free apps. Some are like games but I’m not sure I’m learning things I can use. This app has lessons that are immediately useful for talking to real people in real situations.”

The Vidalingua Method

Real-life Learning

Other apps waste time on vocabulary and grammar you’ll rarely ever use. Learn Swedish + jumps right to lessons that you can use immediately. Start by learning Greetings, Essentials and Questions to get a conversation started. Progress to helpful lessons such as Airports, Hotels and Directions. Make the most of your travels with lessons such as Museums, Movies and Making Friends.

Understanding & Speaking

Understanding Swedish is a good start but speaking is critical. Learn Swedish + provides advanced speech recognition to help you master pronunciation. Practice speaking at your own pace until you build the confidence to talk to others.

Engaging Experience

Some of the lessons in Learn Swedish + teach the basics such as telling Time, using the Subway or Eating Out. Others are unique and amusing such as Limousines, Hot Tubs, Pick-up Lines and Rejections. Interactive exercises keep your attention and improve retention. Meerling the meerkat provides help and encouragement.

Other apps force you to learn in a specific order. Lingidy allows you to move through lessons, phrases and exercises freely.

Dadpr,
Jättebra
I spent a year in Sweden when I was in school and had the time of my life. I am proficient in Swedish but I have few opportunities to practice so I downloaded a few apps to jog my memory. Learn Swedish is like an interactive phrasebook so it's good for somebody who wants to become conversational quickly. There are lessons about hotels, transportation, going out to restaurants and some unexpected ones too. I'm trying to encourage my kids to learn languages and travel as much as possible and this app seems to keep them engaged. I would suggest this app to anyone who wants to learn or improve their Swedish either for travel there or in advance of moving. The lessons are practical and more applicable than most other language apps I've tried. Also, Swedish is easier to learn than you might think, especially if you are proficient in English. There are patterns in the language that mimic old English vocabulary and the language actually has simpler grammar rules than English. Skål!

mrpinaple,
Learn Swedish, sweet app 👌🏼
I went to Stockholm last year to visit some extended family. They speak English pretty well but it was a lot of fun to try to pick up some words, hej, här det bra...
The city is beautiful and I can’t wait to get back and this app is helping me to prepare for the trip.
The pronunciation exercises is my favorite. Speak in a phrase and the app tells you if you pronounced the phrase correctly. The multiple choice exercise is a bit too easy but the others are helpful.
Have this app for a few languages and really enjoying it.
Recommend this app highly to anybody learning Swedish.
Viking Woman,
Great app
This app is a good way to learn to speak in Swedish quickly. There are lessons for pretty much any circumstance you would run into talking to a Swede.
The lessons are useful and some of them are funny. You can tap on any phrase to hear it pronounced. I was born in Sweden so I can vouch for the quality of the voices.
There are exercises to practice speaking Swedish and understanding it.
So far I am really liking this app and trying to get my grand kids to use it to perpetuate our Swedish heritage.
Kik1856,
Love this app
So I come from Swedish heritage and have really wanted to learn more Swedish but always found it too hard. This app helped me organize myself and make goals and made the whole thing easy. I am learning a lot now! Really happy
