Vernie has a secret to share and can’t wait any longer – coding just got more fun, and all friends are welcome. With this update, you can now use your LEGO® Account in the app to share your code creations with friends and let everyone play with your cool programs.

You will also be able to save your progress in the app, and freely switch devices (just in case you want to resume your play at grandma’s house). In addition, you’ll also get cool badges based on the robots you’ve built in the app – what’s not to like?

Vernie and the team of coding robots have been keeping busy over the summer. So much so that in this latest update, you will get 5 NEW cool challenge sections, to be played with friends and family. Each robot has one extra section, dedicated to games and play – ready to give it a try?

Here’s what you can find new in the app:
• Vernie is now a game-master – and ready to challenge you and your friends to a game of stacking. Who will be the one that will topple the tray? (hint: it should not be you)
• Arghhh! Frankie is sick – can you use the new accessories and coding blocks to make him feel all better again?
• Challenge your friends to an M.T.R.4 battle – use two sets and the mat to create a battle rink and test your skills
• Match the sounds sequence from the Guitar4000 or have a tune competition with your friends
• The AutoBuilder has turned into a classic arcade game – can you jump over the obstacles and set new high scores?

rayla dragon prince,
AWSOME!!!But needs to tell you that you need to get the boost remote app.
I love this product. It’s really fun to build and it’s really fun to use. But I think they should tell you that you need to get the boost Remote app. When you search “boost Lego”in the App Store scroll down and you’ll see the boost Lego app picture, then scroll down and you’ll see the Star Wars app picture and again scroll down and you will see boost remote. You will need get the boost remote app for the boost lego app to work. This applies to both the robot boost lego and the Star Wars boost lego. Other wise this app is super fun! Thanks to the lego company for this! I am a huge lego fan and this is my favorite product so far! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading this! 😊Oh and developers if you can please add a mystery sound it would be AWSOME! The mystery sound is like a random sound. Again thanks for reading!
MxsonD,
Problems (UPDATE)
I just received my BOOST Creative Toolbox and I’ve built the first thing in pack 1. My batteries are perfectly fine but when I try to connect to the app the hub Bluetooth light will flicker every 3 or 4 seconds and not give the app enough time to connect. It’s very annoying and I know it’s something to do with the app. I will update my review if I fix this. ————————— UPDATE: Customer Support was very quick and helpful. I simply held down the green button once the connecting screen came on and it updated the hub. I tried that and it didn’t work with some old batteries I had. It worked once I put new batteries in the hub so may have actually been one of the reasons for the hub messing up.
Dr Lori Liv,
Love The Engineering!!
Everything is so fun to do and create. The multiple things to learn and make are great for children. I use it everyday and the quality has never wavered. I have never had a problem with the app. It was great in every way. I very much recommend it to parents who have children with the love of legos. It’s a great app with many possibilities and new idea to explore every day. New concepts of coding and engineering are learned every time you use it. It’s a wonderful way to use up your time!
dinoLille,
App does not work
We got lego boost for our son’s birthday and a month later still not able to play with it. He started building vernie and got stuck trying to connect to the app with Bluetooth. The app keeps asking us to wait indefinitely. We called the lego customer service they told us that they are aware of the problem and that it is being fixed so that we should wait for a week or so until a new release of the app is available and reinstall. Two weeks later still nothing , not a great birthday present so far, can somebody help??
=== UPDATE ====
got help from tech support and it’s worked (thanks :-)) briefly:
-use the lego powered up app to reinstall the firmware
-connector to lego boost app again
Old McRichardson,
Our six year old enjoying
Our six year old is really enjoying the Lego Boost set and building like never before. We don’t own a tablet so he is doing Everything on an iPhone just fine and we are all the way through the cowboy stage. The way it builds in stages and expands functionality really works. Have not gotten through all the builds or programming yet but it asked for a rating. I would say I am really impressed so far. One disappointment is that I don’t see a simple intuitive help for individual programming blocks. I figure if you select a block maybe it should offer help to describe the blocks functionality.
maztwo,
Pieces in bag
I got this toy for Christmas which I was really happy about, but one thing that kind of irritates me, is the fact there are numbers in the bags, and the doesn’t tell us which number bag to open first, I am still currently working on it, but it is really hard, I open a bag and can’t find a piece that is in the instructions, so I have to look for one piece, so I have to search every bag, and that takes a while, and I am only in step 1 and I have to open bag 8 for one piece, so please add the number bag you need to use for each step, and it would make it way easier.
natewebster,
It used to work great...
The Lego Boost app used to work great on my 4th gen iPad (MD514LL/A) running iOS 10.3.3, which is a supported device according to the Lego website. However, ever since the update to version 1.6.3 of the app, it crashes every time upon trying to open it. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app, and even did a complete factory reset on the iPad itself, but the app still crashes every time.

The Lego Boost Creative Toolbox itself is a wonderful set, my kids love it, and fortunately we have another device that they can operate it with. But, if you are considering purchasing the set to use with a 4th gen iPad, I recommend downloading the app first to make sure that it works.
dannyzumbu,
Horrible app for the price we paid for LEGO set
The app has not worked well at all. Every time my child gets through a section of building the app either does not store where he left off and locks the level again or it brings up a settings box (but not the primary settings box for app-which is empty) that will not go away. When you try to close out the settings the last check mark takes you to the webpage and will not close to continue to next section. We paid a lot of money for the robot set, which did not come with paper instructions as a back up. The app needs to be functional.
SleepydadATX,
App is confusing
We got Vernie so our six year old could start learning coding fundamentals. Unfortunately our four year old keeps breaking Vernie, which would be fine if we knew how to reassemble. Because there are no books, we have to use the app directions to rebuild. However, the app is so confusing to use that we can never find the directions. And when Vernie is rebuilt, we can hardly understand the various icon selections in the app and what they do. I wish there were words we could click on or simple directions. In my opinion it is not user friendly, and for that reason we simply don’t play with Vernie anymore. $160 toy we don’t use.
XMoose25X,
Instability caused by “bug fix” updates
The latest update to the app made it completely unusable. There is now a huge gray option screen every time you attempt to do any of the coding. It prevents you from actually controlling your creations. There are other reviews with this same exact issue described. Reinstalling the app doesn’t work as the developers propose. This happens on a 10.2” iPad and 2 iPhone XRs.
It’s a shame that Lego doesn’t have more refined software development lifecycle processes in place, because their manufacturing is out of this world. I’d love to see the same level of quality when it comes to digital LEGO products.
