Fright night0330,
Works great BUT
This things has worked great for me, but has not been without its problems.
I have a basset hound and they tend to wander around, So a gps collar is a godsend.
I received the gps collar as a Christmas present, and immediately put it on my puppy. It works for the most part. When she got out of the yard, I know immediately when it sent me a push notification on my iPhone that she was away.
I did the list dog feature, and even though it took a long time to track her, or to get it to update her position, but when I finally got it to work, I was able to go EXACTLY to her location and pick her up.
The biggest problem I have is getting the collar to update its position, but it still for some reason immediately tells me when she is away, or back with me, or back near the hub.
If it can do those things that quickly, why would it be that hard to get the real-time god tracker to update where she is?
I know a lot of these things are the collar connecting to my phone with Bluetooth or WiFi and using my phones gps position to update where she is.
But besides the issues I have had with updating position, it works like a charm, and has saved my puppy getting to far away by alerting me she is away.
I would highly recommend this product if you have a dog who is a super escape artist like mine.
I am positive that with updates they will improve the product.
Lauren_D_K,
Many features, great piece of mind
I’ve been using Link for a little over a month now and I’ve really enjoyed using the many features it provides. We use the tone feature for training recall, the flashlight on dark walks, tracking our hikes using the adventure feature and of course I love to know how much activity he’s getting each day. We have thankfully not had to track our dog Ozzy’s location using the gps feature, but it is a great piece of mind knowing if he does get loose, we’ll immediately be able to track where he is. We can also store his vet and vaccination records, and we will get a notification if he is in an environment that may be too hot or too cold for an extended period of time. I’m sure there are other features I have yet to discover but overall I find this to be a complete smart product for a pet!
EricTwiggs,
Customer service is great!
All in all I highly recommend Link AKC. That isn’t to say I haven’t had issues, so don’t expect perfection, but you will experience peace of mind for your dog that tends to get loose.

This app works well, but does have room for improvement. That’s where customer service comes into play and they have exceeded expectations! I was having serious issues and customer service and IT worked together to monitor the issues and work on fixes for future app updates. The communication I received from Link AKC was just about as good as anything I’ve ever experienced from a customer service department.

I would like to see WiFi integrated in future releases, but my guess is someday that’ll come.
Jareknyc,
Idea is cool when it’s working
I usually don’t leave reviews unless I am stack with something and looking for improvement. Unfortunately I paid for 3 years of service and that was a mistake, when I simulate loosing my dog moving away from home base app is looking for my dog for 10 min then it crashes, in 10 min dog will be gone in normal circumstances. When I finally start tracking the dog the app will have to be killed and reopen every 2 min because it will freez...it will not go to another screen it’s stack at map and will not update...I get multiple crashes per day at least 10, and no reinstalling app did not help...also I am on my second GPS receiver first one died after firmware release, and again I was without a gps tracker for my dog even I paid for service for 3 years..and no they didn’t give me free month or anything...they shipped the unit and took over 8 days to get it since it left California and I live in NY. This stuff should be replaced and shipped over night...not waiting over week.
Ufromme,
Great Customer Service!
I think a lot of people are confused how to use this product. It’s a GPS tracker with a paid subscription. The tracker will not trigger if the pet is close to your phone or their base station. Which is good because otherwise you will be burning through the battery. This is more of an insurance policy should your pet ever run away. It’s also nice because you can set a safe zone where the phone will not actively tracking your dog unless he leaves. Good for the park or beach. And you don’t have to be there once a safe boundary is set preserving battery life. I definitely think this app and system works and I paid more in reward money than this system cost.

Crashes and Loses Connection
The app crashes at least daily on opening, and the light feature rarely works the first try. When it does come on, most of the time I need to dock the sensor before it will let me turn it off. The base station will act up sometimes thinking the dog is “away” when he’s on 5 feet from the station. This has caused a panic a few times when we’ve been at work thinking he’s somehow made his way out of the house.

The activity feature seems to over-count most of the time thinking he’s already achieved his goal before we’ve even left the house in the morning. Hopeful it’s honestly working, but doubtful it’s accurate.

Tracking feature seems to work fine when we used it though, but overall the system features seem buggy.

Needs major improvements
The Link app is fine as it is currently, but I needs major development to work efficiently. The location service lags a lot, and often causes the app to freeze and then crash. The base station also doesn’t recognize when the tracker is close to it, because it works primarily of off Bluetooth and cellular systems. It would be nice if there was a way to set base locations using WiFi for better accuracy. The tracker also doesn’t give the most current updates on your dogs activity levels, so it’s hard to gauge if your meeting the minimum activity or not until a few hours after. It would be nice if it was an instant update.

Really it would just be nice if the phone app and the tracker link were more refined.
Marimas26,
Works great
I like being able to check in on the pups while I'm away. You can see their activity throughout the day. The notification that your dog is away happens pretty quickly if they get too far from the base station. It does take a minute for the GPS tracking to alert you exactly where your dog is but the notification they they are gone is pretty instant. Once the GPS tracks the dog you will see little paw prints that show your dogs path while it's away. We live on a little over an acre and we do not get many false alarms which mean the base station has good range most of the time.
AmberD12345,
Love it!
Love this app and our link gps device. The device attaches to any collar/harness and then I can use the app to check her activity levels (like a Fitbit) as well as locate her. The app will also alert you via notifications if your dog leaves your home zone or is away from you. This is great for homes where multiple people care for the dog. You can know if they dog has been walked, how much exercise it has, and if it’s been active. The app can also track vet records and even alert you if the temp is too hot or cold for your dog. Great if they are home alone all day.
Roger540,
Great tech support and great collar!
Purchased the link over a year ago to ensure I could locate my new puppy if he decided to stray away from our home here in the smoky mountains. Love the light and sound feature and the accuracy of the GPS. Had some problems with multiple location alwrts and battery life. The tech support and customer service folks were fantastic and cleared up the multiple alert issues by remotely updating the software. Unfortunately, they were unable to improve the battery life, so they sent me a new collar! Awesome service and an awesome collar. Highly recommend the Link.
