Meegsees,
Pretty Decent!
I had the Eversense implant CGM, but the transmitter technology wasn’t the best. I recently changed back to the FreeStyle Libre sensor, but missed the constant glucose values. I got the NightRider to supplement that continual reading technology, and it’s pretty darn good. The UI is better than some glucose apps, the connection between NightRider and my phone was easy.

The only thing I don’t like about this App is that it either doesn’t connect to Apple Health, or if it does, I can’t figure out where to turn that connect on. So... developers... if you could, PLEASE get this app to connect with Apple Health!
dufusdawg,
Night rider and App.
After being inundated with emails touting the direct to watch connectivity, I bought a Night Rider. After some back and forth about delivery with customer care, I received delivery. Luckily it was received after the software update a few days ago to support the US 14 day sensor. If not, it would not have worked at all. Per customer care, the direct to watch functionality for the US 14 day sensor should be available in a few weeks. Nothing about this is mentioned anywhere in their marketing materials. I only bought this for the direct to watch function. Charging $25 for shipping a $9 priority mail envelope is also obscene.

Update July 17,2020

Decided to give it another try. The direct to watch functionality works. The app was installed with the complication. I added the complication to my watch face and it works as expected. Then the app pops up on your screen. I have still to find a way to see my watch face on wrist lift or crown press.... the open app is always displayed. It appears to run as an ACTIVITY which on Apple’s software is always displayed with wrist lift on. A crown press to required to get back to your watch fact.... which displays your data via the complication. Dear developers, what am I missing?
BayouSharon,
Cannot register in app or online
I cannot register in the app because it won’t let me enter or select a birth year. There is also no place online to register. The app is close to useless if I can’t share the data with my doctor! Also applying the Nighrider to the Libre 2 sensor was NOT as easy as the video suggests. Mine fell right off no matter how hard I pushed on it. I had to use the arm band that came with it for it to stay in place (also took a while to wrangle it in the right place and tighten almost as tight as a blood pressure cuff). Then even though it was reset and paired with the app on my phone, it wouldn’t connect to the sensor and pull a reading, at least that’s what it looked like. After 10-15 minutes pushing it in over the Libre sensor it FINALLY started posting readings. Update just 15 minutes later: now it’s not posting readings again. I think when I left the room for 5 min or so the app just stopped the readings and won’t start again when I got back.

ZERO APP SUPPORT!!!!!!! If you click on app support you you get a page not found error on their website. My review is NOT showing up.
iPhoneMandible,
Bad Product, Bad Company
I recently switched from the Dexcom G6 to a Libre2 because of insurance issues, coupled with regular Bluetooth failures and an arbitrary 90-day limit on the transmitter. (I thought, cool device, maybe I can get Dexcom-like monitoring).

I did not get an opportunity to test the software, since I could only sync the device once.

I received an RMA to return the Ambrosia Nightrider BlueCon and then a refund minus shipping and a 30% restocking fee since I had opened the box. Terms and conditions don’t mention restocking fees.

The waterproof version adds Tegaderm patches, some round stickers and a plastic cover with a strip of inexpensive elastic. When stuck to a Libre with the included adhesive-patch and the cover, you wind up with tight elastic band around your arm and nearly a centimeter thick device hangin’ from the fat under your arm.

Once the thing is stuck on, it’s not removable without pulling off the Libre2. Then the Ambrosia Systems Nightrider BlueCon had to be pried off with a nail file!

I think the “Con” here is a device that doesn’t “connect,” unpublished return policies, and no instructions on how to use the waterproofing.

I hope you will appreciate the over $200 it’s cost me for this review ($50 for the 30% + $175 for a new Libre2).

If you have had a similar experience, please consider reporting this company to the FDA (medical device problem), FTC (false advertising), your state Attorney General and Post a review on the AppStore.
The GOD☀️Life,
DO NOT PURCHASE!!! This product is the WORST!!!
I am a student nurse and I am not allowed to have my telephone on the unit so I cannot utilize it to scan my Libre. My husband purchased the Ambrosia NightRider system. It worked for all of two days. The Bluetooth connection to the Apple Watch Series 7 worked for only a few hours. Got 3 readings. The device remained locked and the battery which quickly died could not be changed as the device would not release the cap that holds the battery. I also ordered an arm band to hold the device on top of the Libre sensor. I ordered black and it was sent in white. It was a polyester fabric that was unraveling upon arrival and quickly deteriorated every time I handled it. I am becoming a nurse to work with patients that have diabetes. I will be sure to mention to every diabetic patient that I encounter to STEER CLEAR and to NEVER even consider this product! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! NO RETURN SLIP OR CONTACT PHONE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR ASSISTANCE.
TallFred,
Hardware is AWFUL!!! App is decent
Have been waiting over a month after retuning the BluCon device to Ambrosia. Almost impossible to contact other then random messages from them via Facebook Messenger. Just a few canned responses from them via e-mail. Hardware did not work consistently from day one. The Sony battery that they provided did not last a week. Most I ever was able to get was eight days. After a six weeks the device got really flakey. Had to remove and then reinstall battery to get it to work part of the time. Eventually it just stopped working mAfter getting an RMA to return I have been waiting over a month to get a replacement. The software has consistently gotten better with each update. If the hardware worked and customer support was available I would highly recommend this product. Until then possible buyers need to run from this product.
h_correia,
It would be great if it actually worked.
I bought this a few months ago and ever since I’ve not had more than a week when it worked properly. The transmitter simply keeps disconnecting from the app and you have to reset the transmitter manually pressing a tiny button. The issue had been fixed a few weeks ago in a past version, but I have automatic app updates turned on on iOS, so I don’t know curte version it was and I have been having the issue again during the past weeks. This issue de facto makes the product useless, since I have to keep resetting the transmitter as often as I’d scan the sensor with my phone. I’m on iPhone 12 Pro, 15.6.1.
cetruax,
This is mainly a winner!
I have the NightRider waterproof model. While it is a bit bulky (thick) I have gotten past that with an armband and a Velcro strap to secure the sensor and NightRider in place. The LinkBluCon app works well on my iPhone and provides good records and alarms which will wake you out of a sound sleep for readings out of the range you preset. As a bonus, I find that the sensor will continue working after the 14 day period. I’ve used it two days past with no problem, not sure how long it will actually go.
Bobby T.,
Great when it actually works.
Without a doubt the BluCon products (which I’m on my 3rd iteration of) have terrible bluetooth connectivity.

Several times a day I find the device has randomly lost connection, which forces me to “scan” to re-pair it.

I did that last night before bed, this morning it showed it literally was still trying, showing it had been over 7 hours. My phone stays on my headboard so it was 3 feet away that entire time.

I find myself having to power cycle my phone several times a day in order to use the device. It literally takes less effort to use Libre’s manual scan functionality.

In contrast, I have experience with countless bluetooth devices, from wearable thermometers & breathing trackers, blood pressure & oximeter trackers, to several brands of bluetooth blood sugar monitors. ALL of those have have bulletproof bluetooth connections, even in cases where the value of said devices cost a fraction of the BluCon.
Electrophonic-totophonic,
Getting Better
With each update this app gets better, more reliable and stable. I rely heavily on this app.

My only request, and please pass this on to the developers. Pretty please add a 3 hour snooze. 3 hours will allow insulin to take full affect. When an alarm goes off and insulin is taken the app needs to give 3 hours without any alerts.

If that was added this app will be one large step closer to perfection.
