fun but frustrating

ive played quite a lot now and have actually spent money on the game (though you could definitely not spend any money and still have an enjoyable experience). my biggest gripe honestly is how the chests can give you masks for characters that arent even in your party at the moment ?? if im shelling out 2k gems, i want a good shot at stuff that i want. gems arent easy to come by even with money. it’s 10 bucks for 1200 gems, no bonus gems which imo is pretty pricey compared to other idle games like this. sometimes you can get 10 gems by watching an ad but i play so often that they actually dont let me watch anymore ads for rewards. a limit to who youre going to get masks for would be amazing but if thats, for whatever reason, not achievable, then putting in a system where you have a higher chance at getting masks for a character you selected is also ideal. it gets a little grindy after a while but that generally tells me i should transcend soon bc my level ups arent enough anymore to keep up with the enemies. overall, good game but seriously needs some more care towards their microtransaction side which shouldnt need work considering youre paying them real money! (yes you can save 2k gems but youll get maybe max 50 gems from ads if you play long enough/get lucky enough with the koi rewards before they stop you from watching ads. is there anyone willing to grind this for 40 days straight to get a chest youre not even likely to get things you want from?)

Genuinely enjoyable.

A a lifelong gamer, when I think of the mobile gaming market, I think manipulation, hidden gambling, pressure and dirty tactics.
This one is a rare example of an idle mobile game that seems to honestly respect you as a person. The ads are unintrusive and the incentives for viewing them are often worth it, and are not forced upon you (though offered frequently), there is no pressure to spend real money at any point any at no point do you feel you are truly missing out on some major portion of the experience while gently letting you know that the option exists.
The gameplay, should you choose to actively participate, is simplistic to enter, however has a high skill ceiling that genuinely took me by surprise, and centers around one’s ability to manage their orbs, choosing when to pool one’s supply and when to burst through a chunk or even all of them for extra damage during a harder fight, potentially getting you a few levels deeper into a run then what should be possible in a game of this genre.
I wouldn’t say it’s perfect. Things like seasonal passes automatically cost at least half a star as it divides a player base and is actively damaging to a community, and it is reaching into other less reputable aspects of the mobile gaming market in other ways, but for what it is, it’s near the the forefront of what a mobile idle game should be.

The only thing I can think that tops this one would be Egg Inc.

A More Fun Clicker Heroes

Have you played Clicker Heroes? Did you like it? Then you’ll like this game :) it has a VERY similar concept (heroes, upgrades for said heroes, rebirth, things that you summon for perm bonuses, stage progression.... you get the idea) but it has better aesthetics for sure. The art is gorgeous and the characters are adorable. Much like any idle game I’ve played, I’m addicted. However, if you get bored of idle games quickly then you probably won’t like this one. There are some distinct differences from clicker heroes that I do enjoy though. Each “masketeer” (hero) is somewhat customizable. There’s a rune system that allows you to boost your characters, and a mask system where you can essentially get rarer+better masks from loot boxes (which you get for free don’t worry). 4/5. The game is fun, beautiful, and enjoyable to come back to. It’s only not a 5/5 because it feels very similar to other clicker games which I tend to lose interest in after a while. But for now, I love it!

Amazing Art and Design! But...

My favorite part about this game is the unique art and character designs that were put into it, which is why I downloaded it in the first place. But even though the visuals are great, the game itself feels small. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I think it would be a more entertaining game if it had multiple levels or worlds that you can unlock every once in a while. Each world could have its own items unique to it that can be obtained, along with more comic pages or cut scenes for story.
Then again, I am only at stage 47, so maybe something like what I’ve described is already in the game or will be added. But I still think that it would make the game feel more like it takes place in an actual world instead of just switching backgrounds every few minutes.

Amazing

It’s a perfect game: the UI is amazing, the story is interesting, and the art/ animation is fantastic. I just wish the IAP wasn’t a monthly subscription to the game and this game only. I could see little couple dollar purchases here and there to improve the experience and get a little head start but a monthly subscription?? I know it’s optional, but I know there’s gonna be people buying it and keeping it, progressing further and further over time from those who don’t buy the subscription which is kinda lame. Maybe make it a one time big purchase or something. Other than that amazing game :)

Edit: haven’t been able to claim ANY kind of rewards since starting.. such as the ads that reward you after watching, level rewards, etc. Same error every time. Also not able to purchase the $2 pack :( heard all my friends have this same problem too

Nice visuals, but slow and chance based gameplay

The game relies heavily on chance in regards to masks, artifacts and attacks. I was able to make it to floor 75 with the starter team you get in the tutorial which was the point where I decided to remove the app. It’s an endless cycle of killing minions and bosses. You eventually reach a point where bosses and your Maskteers have so much health that no one faints. The boss’s health is so incredibly high to the point that you have to grind a massive amount of spark just to upgrade one Maskteer to even dent it in a rematch.

I assume at this point you’re suppose to transcend your Maskteers and start from scratch (some skills and other level ups are kept when you start over). However, I find this annoying having to start over after getting so far.

If you don’t mind loot chests, re-rolling skills on masks and artifacts using micro-transactions, repetitive battle music and the other things I listed above then go for it. Maybe this game will be better in the future.

Game keeps crashing

The gameplay is fine. Standard idle game with nice progression and great artwork. Only problem right now is the instability of the app.

Video rewards fail probably 90% of the time, but I’m not complaining too much since it gives you the reward anyway after the error message. The big problem is the app crashes regularly. A couple days into playing and I haven’t been able to play more than 5 minutes without a crash. Now, I can’t even play 30 seconds without a crash, and I can’t do anything in the game because nothing I do in that time saves. While it was working, it made my phone really hot too. Like no other app has made my phone that hot.

So overall, promising game, but looks like it can use quite a bit of under-the-hood work to make it function smoothly.

idle familiarity

the games art is beautiful and when i preordered i had looked forward to a beautiful gatcha game to explore, and play through while passing time yeah? i found a beautiful game and its this for sure, but theres not a lot of feautures that a lot of other idles have. it is a solo game, which really let me down because i was hoping there would be more than a single combination of masketeers to play the game through, but since theres only five, you can only use those guys, and yeah theres other masks to equip them with. but with a lack of characters implies a lack of multiplayer play, which is something that often brings these idle rpg’s to life, guild creation, dungeons, and more characters introduced to the game would be beautiful, it makes me sad to see this game which i was waiting for come out and not have these things, but maybe this is a good thing, and keeping it solo will allow the creators to add more solo content other than just grinding through the main story until nothingness exists. it also confuses me that there are options to pay for new masks when all it really does is create space to make you go through the game quicker. idk though, i love jt but wish there was multiplayers

Halloween Event Is Buggy And Poorly Balanced

I love the game, but this new Halloween event is extremely buggy. For example, sometimes I was getting +-17 candies. So I would get nothing. Other times I would get 20+ which was nice. But then on some, I had to watch an ad for +10. The ad should give you more than the ones without an ad.

Then I noticed an update was out, so I updated hoping it would fix some of these issues. Upon loading up, I went from 90 something candies before updating to 70 something after. Other than that, It seems like some of the bugs were fixed, but now I only get +2 candies each time. It’s either another bug, or the event was made completely unbalanced for some reason.

Good but has some problems

All around fun to play once you figure out how to progress quickly the few issues I have with the game lie in the add reward system some games make you watch a few hundred ads for good rewards this game wants you to watch 72 thousand ads or pay 1200$ for the highest paywall reward which is absurd if you do the math that’s equivalent to 25 straight days worth of 30 second ads with absolutely no breaks in between the prices are decent a little on the high side however but the system for the game itself is unique and fun most idle games you either do nothing mostly or too much this game has a good balance want to kill some time? Tap some orbs want to go idle and only log on every so often? It has 8 hour base offline rewards I believe
