robryd,
Worth the two bucks to me
It’s a nice reference source for those who already know a subject. If you have a background in, say, trigonometry, and you know that a certain formula exists but can’t quite remember what it looks like, then this is a useful reference.

I don’t think it is meant to be a learning tool. If you have no idea about trigonometry, for example, this won’t do you much good.

This runs on a tablet but is really meant only for a phone. On my iPad everything is confined to the left-hand one-third of the screen leaving the rest of the screen blank. Maybe not a problem for most people, but I use my tablet more than my phone so that is kind of disappointing.
Offbeatjinx,
Great tool!
I'm a pre-med student and this app helps out a lot when it comes to consolidating the eq. I need when doing homework and practicing / solving problems in calc-based physics etc. It also goes all the way back to pre-algebra for those needing to refresh!
Eriksweeklyphoto,
Fantastic and it just keeps getting better
I’ve been using this app for at least 6 years and I’m amazed at how well the developer has continued to support and improve it. Math Ref was worth a lot more than the 2 or 3 bucks I originally paid for it, and it’s only gotten better since then The developer should add a tip jar so us long-time users can continue to support them.
Snookie Gooch,
OK, but useless for learning
It's just an organized collection of formulas. If you keep encountering hard to understand mathematical concepts explained in impenetrably arcane mathematical jibber-jabber, look elsewhere. This app is for those who already have a deep understanding of mathematics.

Just once, I'd like to see an app writer come up with one that lets the rest of us on board by explaining concepts in plain language, using analogies, animations or whatever else it takes to help the rest of us break through.
C71,
Much better than I expected
As a working scientist/engineer I have forgot many of the equations I sometimes need - particularly those I knew in college but which are now rarely encountered. I paid my 99 cents hoping this app would be a handy reference. It is so much more valuable to me than that. For example, if you tap on PHYSICS, you have a list of many subtopics. Tap on the subtopic 2D-KINEMATICS, and you get the equations you expect (and more). So there you find, for example, the equation for elastic potential energy. But (and this was a surprise) tap on the equation and you then get more info defining or describing the quantity. At that point if you like you can add the equation to your list of FAVORITES. This is a far more extensive and detailed product than I expected, and I will have a lot of use for it.
Muesic,
iPhone/iPod is good, iPad version is still missing the point
I had reviewed the previous version and noted how wonderful the iPod/iPhone version was - a great job given the small screen real estate. However, the iPad version continues to baffle me with the fraction of the screen it allocates for formulae. When I'm using the iPad I STILL want to find the formula I'm after quickly, so presenting the formulae on only one third of the screen is daft in my opinion. I do appreciate that the developers are adding the ability to augment a given formula with user comments and the like, but 99% of the time all I want is quickly locating the formula I'm after yet the majority of the screen is sacrificed for all this other low yield stuff. How about using **ALL** the screen real estate for the formulae and if I'm interested in seeing a bigger version of the equation or adding my own comments then I just tap on that equation and then something intuitive happens. A great addition would be pinch/zoom in case you find the formula was a little too small to read.
B-dubs.,
Exceptional App. Maybe my favorite!
As a computer engineering student and math tutor, I find myself using this app all the time. I've recommended it to multiple friends who have also loved it. The layout is very smooth and the presentation is appealing. It's also fairly intuitive to find what I'm looking for.
As to improvements, I would really really like to see a section where I can add my own equations and categorize then for easy access. If it had keyboard that allowed me to access some of the special characters such as the Greek alphabet that would be nice too. I would also like to see a slightly easier to read format on some of the equations as they tend to spill over to the new line which makes it a bit hard to read. Other than that, well done guys. A beautiful app!
MiL731,
Great App
This app is great. It has pretty much anything you could ask for. Being an engineering major student, and going through Calculus 1-3, differential equations, physics 1-3, and chemistry 1&2, I can say this app hasn't let me down yet. All the formulas are included, and they are right where you expect them to be. Really nice and organized.

The only thing that I hope to see in the next updates is the ability to add out own functions and formulas. This would help a lot since sometime you need to memorize the formulas for other classes (economy, biology,...). Other than that, this app is awesome, I'd highly recommend it.
GTD Meister,
Amazing Compendium of Collegiate Math
Vast array of subject areas accross mathematics and into finance, chemistry, and physics. I recommend this app to my students in all levels of undergraduate college mathematics. The calculus formulae and theorems alone are worth the $0.99. (There are better apps out there for middle school and high school subjects, Algebra II and below).

The examples help students A LOT. If I could recommend anything to improve, it would be to keep adding examples and as many sub-subject areas as possible. Also, consider expanding into abstract algebra, analysis, and number theory.
Petersen113,
GREAT APP FOR MY CALCULS CLASS! HELPS A LOT!
This is one of my favorite math apps, it has alot of information stored in it but of course they can't think of everything so maybe like a section can be devoted to the user added his own references and then possibly sending them to your company so you can add it in your next update and then the app would keep growing and growing with math references. For example, the one formula I always forget is the area of an equilateral triangle! Thanks for the amazing app and hopefully we can have an upgrade soon!
