Description
This game enables students to go through the process of designing and building a house by applying various mathematical concepts. Architects, home-builders and building contractors use the same concepts in their daily work. It is ideal for elementary, middle-school students and also for the students who have trouble understanding basic mathematics. Friendly graphics and help sections enable students overcome fear of math and give them confidence to tackle more challenging problems.
During the game the students are presented with the word problem, calculator, and the answer box. After entering the final result into the answer box the students are taken to the screen where they drag and drop parts of the house to verify their answer. The students then are given a choice to repeat the problem using different values or continue to the next one. At the end of the game the final score is displayed.
Concepts covered: Area, Perimeter, Volume, Pythagorean Theorem, Unit Conversion.
We are in process of designing additional problems and updates.
