This update contains major improvements including a new firmware for the Memory Mic.
We strongly recommend every customer to update to this latest firmware and software version!
- Updated firmware
- Audio recovery: In case of sync issues it is now possible to download all audio files from the memory of the Memory Mic.
The audio files will be stored to the gallery. This function can be found in the settings menue called “audio recovery”
- Option for disabling multi-user: This prevents any other smartphone to connect to a running session which could cause audio drop outs.
The option can be found in the settings menue. By default multi-user is turned OFF
- Recording only stoppable by Master
- Export: File names uses correct timestamps
- “End session” alert has been removed when Memory Mic is in range (in recording screen) to provide a smoother operation when recording several files
- Number of clicks in sync and initialization screens has been reduced to optimize workflow
- Extra alert on clear action to prevent user from accidentally deleting the memory.

Important: Please make sure to end your sessions and save *all* your audio/video files. Updating the Firmware on your MemoryMic device might delete your open recordings. Once updated you need to power cycle the MemoryMic and re-start the application.

Not that reliable
When it works it's wonderful but very spotty and I've lost a bunch of recordings due to bad pairing etc.

Updated Review: It works again!
To my surprise, the memory mic works again. Both on iPad and iPhone.
I have iOS16 / iPadOS16 on both.
This unit and app are an excellent argument why you shouldn’t buy hardware that’s dependent on an app. As I type this, the memory mic is still trying to sync to the video. As another reviewer mentioned, it just hangs on a screen after it’s connected. But it doesn’t go further. Thing is, it used to but some where some changes to either iOS or the Sennheiser app has made my Memory Mic basically useless. Do things the old fashioned way. Just sync audio to video manually. Trust me.

This is not Sennheiser quality!
I got my memory mic two years ago. It has never been a very “usable” product… I always struggle with the syncing process.
After one year the unit stopped working. Sennheiser sent me a new one.
Same problems occurred with the new unit.
Now, for example, I need to use three recordings I just made: An impossible thing to do: when syncing, the app asks the phone to connect to the memorymic wifi, which I did, and the app stays there… like waiting for something to happen… and nothing happen…
What do I do now? How can I retrieve my recordings?

Use to work great!
It use to work perfect a year ago, somehow either through updates or iOS compatibility, I can no longer pair the memory mic to my iPhone and sync sessions. When I finish a recording, the phone connects to the WLAN hotspot, and appears to be working but it still asks to connect to the WLAN. Can’t sync sessions, can’t transfer audio. It’s worthless at this point. $200 waste.

App broken after iOS 14 came out
Trying to play any of the files in the app will result in a hang. Come on, Sennheiser. The beta has been out since June. The bug was there the entire time.
Be careful with Sennheiser products that rely on their apps. The company makes very good hardware. But the software side is not that great.

Useless
Mic is great, but without the app is completely useless. I was able to use it a few times before the app started crashing when trying to listen to the audio file

With the new iOS it records, but crashes when you try to play files back. The mics are worthless without a functioning app.

Sennheiser needs to update the app so it doesn’t hang on playback. It renders the mic useless.

Nice Mic Option
This mic is ingenious! The sound quality is very good, especially if you want to remove the ambient noise from your video recordings. Afterwards you can adjust how much ambient noise you want removed.
The mic has to be used in conjunction with with the Memory Mic app. When recording video, the audio is synced with the video after recording. A connection is made via Bluetooth and WLAN IEEE 802.11 to transfer audio. It’s best test recordings ahead of time to ensure that everything is syncing properly. Also works well with the iPad Pro.
