Bluhbluhbluhbored,
So cute and relaxing!!
I don’t normal write reviews for apps but this game is so enjoyable I felt it deserves me taking the time to review it. The game is so cute and fun I fell in love with it instantly. It’s so enjoyable to decorate each of the cat’s rooms and learn more about them in the process. The puzzles are also really fun and not too difficult! I’ve always loved nonograms and my sister who never really understood them was able to learn how to do them through this game! (She also loves them now too!) I also am so thankful there aren’t pop-up ads every three minutes like every other app has nowadays. There are some ads, but you’re able to instantly X it out and they never pop up during puzzles or decorating or any other time where it would feel like an inconvenience. (All the ads I got were also soundless so it didn’t interrupt the calm relaxing mood I was in while playing) I feel like a lot of games that market themselves as relaxing and stress-relieving really aren’t, but this game actually is!

I could honestly go on and on about this game but I’ll end it here. If you want a fun, relaxing, and cute game this is definitely the game for you! Play it!!! (Also, Arco and Oat are my favorites :3 )

Well Crafted Fun
I downloaded this game because of its cute concept and graphics, but after spending time with it I really appreciate the care its creators have taken to make a good, quality, fun app. The dialogue and stories are all charming, so much that I can’t decide on my favorite cat. The decor that you unlock is also great and I really feel motivated to finish the rooms just to see it all come together. I know the pencil mechanic is bothersome to some, but helping the cats with tasks adds an extra charge, and it only takes 2 hours to be at full pencils again. Also, this lets the player enjoy the process of helping the cats, not just playing the puzzles. There are hundreds of picross apps on the App Store, so if you just want to breeze through puzzles then take your pick, but this game has integrity and heart. As far as I can tell they only run ads enough to keep the lights on for the TWO PEOPLE credited in this game, and usually seeing them is optional. And all of this for free! Studio Boxcat has my heart now for sure❤️
psychicdaydreams,
Almost perfect
The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is its implementation of the nonogram itself—which I consider a 2-star issue in itself. See, the Xs in a nonogram aren't part of the puzzle that can be right or wrong, they're a guide for the player that should be ignored by scoring. But this game doesn't treat them correctly. It's common in most games, for example, to put Xs in the "wrong" spots while marking the midsections of two blocks in a row too large to have a known breakpoint, and erase them when not needed. According to this game, that would be a mistake, and you're penalized for it. I don't love that it highlights the exact position of a block when multiple options could logically exist, such as telling you the 2 block you've entered in a 2 2 2 2 row is the one second from the left, but that's a common enough design choice that I can live with it. But since you can't erase an X, engaging with this game like you would any other nonogram game can lead to inadvertent puzzle spoilers as the game tells you that what you intended as a mark to yourself to check spacing is either true or false. Let the player reason it themself! Not all of us can count 15 squares in our heads by sight on a small phone screen.
xxVll,
Fantastic! One suggestion though
Absolutely love this game! The art is adorable, it’s well developed, the nonograms are a joy to play and the themes are beautiful! It’s obvious time and thought went into this, and I’m so happy to see a Matchington mansion style game (playing a “mini game” to get stars or money or cans) with a game other than candy crush style match three! Refreshing and wonderful!
My only suggestion is that it’s impossible to keep interest with only eight pencils that go down every game (and go down by two with the hard levels). As someone whose play style is sit down and play to unwind for a while once a day, only eight puzzles makes it impossible to truly do that! I’d suggest possibly making the pencils more of a “lives” style mechanism, where players only lose pencils or life when they fail or restart a game. That being said, I love the relaxed atmosphere, with no time limit and a higher number of mistakes being allowed for a perfect score. Unfortunately that would have to be changed or compromised for a life style set up :/
Overall, a fantastic game! Absolutely would recommend to any nonogram players!
thepowerofselfrespect,
cute and well made :~)
i don’t normally leave reviews but i have really enjoyed playing this game. i love nonograms but so many apps bombard you with endless LOUD ads and ugly designs. this game is cute and calm, and the puzzles are fun and interesting. the ads are mostly opt-in and unobtrusive. this app is also not pay-to-play, and even though they give you the option to pay a small fee for extras, it’s not required or expected. you can play the game just the same without spending money, which i really appreciate. i have been experiencing insomnia lately and this game is so sweet and fun to chill out to when i can’t sleep. my only suggestion would be to eventually add 25x25/larger or 20x10/odd sized puzzles, because i do love the 15x15 boards, but i still complete them very quickly. totally understandable why they don’t have these boards right now though!
Preambulatory,
A good nonogram game that could be great
The game is pretty good. The cats are 100% adorable and I’m always a big fan of nonograms. But there are a couple of things that keep this game from being a great nonogram game. The first is that the numbers on the sides are giving you hints that they aren’t supposed to. Say you fill in a block, is it part of the 1 or part of the 4? You don’t know. Except that if it’s part of the 1, the number 1 on the sides of the puzzle goes grey. You have info now that you aren’t necessarily supposed to have. I’ve seen this in a lot of nonogram games, it seems like a really tricky programming challenge.
The other issue is that 95% of the time when I make a mistake, it’s because I have the wrong ‘pen’ selected. I think I’m placing an x but I have the block selected. It’s a UI thing, not sure how I’d fix it. Good news is that the game doesn’t really punish you harshly for mistakes. It’s a very chill game.
Other positive notes: ads aren’t annoying and you can pay to get rid of them, which I always appreciate. So yeah, good game.
Violet_Knight,
You WILL love this game
Oh my goodness what can I say! The game is adorable, all of the cats are lovable and the puzzles are just the right level of difficulty for me! It’s nothing super advanced but they can be quite challenging sometimes and make you think!
One of my favorite things as well is that unlike most free mobile games, the amount of energy needed for each level doesn’t get higher the further you get in the game. Just one for normal levels and two for hard.
Anyway, I fully recommend this game. I also NEED an update!!! I’ve already finished the story and I’m about 20 nanograms away from completing them all. My only complaint is that technically I can’t 100% it because one of the themes is behind a paywall. But that’s not a big deal, just kinda annoying.
Please continue this game and to all of those wonder, yes, you WILL love this game
meaowzer,
One of my favorites
I love this game as an alternative to other nonogram games that are filled with ads. There are ads in Meow Tower but most are immediately skippable without even waiting a few seconds. The puzzles are a delight and have kept me fun for hours. The pencil system is a little annoying when playing offline, but when ads are available, a 30 second ad nearly refills them anyway. Is usually play during breaks at work or in between tasks so it’s a great game for small sessions.

Currently though I’m not sure if there is a way to save your data and transfer between devices which is really sad since I will be getting a new phone soon. I have all of the cats and nearly all the furniture and have completed over 900 puzzles. If there’s not a way currently to transfer data, please implement one soon🙏
buBbaSkeeNs1974,
Good game!
The darkening of the numbers sometimes gives away part of the puzzle that'd be more challenging otherwise but it also helps on the ones that are extremely difficult so I'm torn. Overall I think it was a good design choice. Also the biographies of the cats don't always make sense. Also, it doesn't seem like there'd be any reason to get the other pieces of furniture than the current mission so I'm confused why it's available. Finally, 10 hints is too much for the difficulty of the puzzles. I try not to use them as it'd give away most of the fun. Overall though, it's fun to have a story around Nonograms so I am a fan!! EDIT: I have realized that the hints do not reset each level and seemingly the only way to get more is to watch an ad which is annoying. Correct answers without hints should regenerate them. I reached out to the developer to confirm. Fun game though!
AlphaBtt,
Amazing! one problem though.
I love Picross and cats and when I saw this on the app store in early December, I got it immediately and have been playing it since. So far i’ve done all the normal levels and started the hard ones but I have a problem. After 3-7 minutes of playing, the game crashes and each time it resets my progress on the nonogram I was on. This wouldn’t be a problem if it was on normal because those are quicker to do but because I’m doing the hard nonograms it takes longer and I can’t finish it in time. It becomes less of a puzzle and more just memorizing it in order to finish it which ruins the fun. I noticed that no one really had this issue so it may not be that big of an issue but I do hope any of you over there do fix it eventually. Besides that, the game is amazing and talking to the cats is fun!
Thank you!
