GnomeRocks,
Frustrating to use
Casting is useful but I wish it worked with more devices like AppleTV. The store is frustrating to use. New and updated apps are not highlighted well. You used to be able to dig into the app details and see the “Developer Update” messages, but these seem to be gone now, so it is hard to know what changed. Being able to review developer release notes (most recent shown first) that apply to apps I own would be nice. Filtering and sorting apps is cumbersome. I wish you could sort by user star rating in the store. I would like to be able to filter apps in the store so I can just see apps that I do not own (sensible default) or apps that I own. Being able to filter apps I own would be useful when I want to browse my apps to decide which one I want to gift to a friend, though this wouldn't be needed if "My Library" supported filtering and sorting by user star rating. That way when a friend asks me what are the best multiplayer apps that I own, for example, it would be easy to just see which popular ones I own and make a recommendation. I wish it showed the price of apps that I own more visibly, so I can consider this when recommending an app to a friend.
John Heisler,
So many bugs
Casting is clunky. Screenshots and videos for games won’t display in landscape view, even though they’re oriented in landscape view. Will get trapped in full screen mode with no way to back out so I just have to close the app entirely (there is an “X” icon but tapping it does nothing). Games purchased by one user not available to the other user. My wife bought the oculus for me (yes I call it oculus because meta is a stupid name) and she bought several games with her profile before giving me the machine. Then I made a profile and bought games, and now we need to switch back and forth between profiles to access the different games bought by each profile. So dumb. Connecting with friends in the oculus is way more clunky than it should be. We always have problems. For example, we’ll both send invites to each other and they don’t come through for either party. Sometimes we’ll join a party and the audio isn’t working, so we have to power off and try connecting again. I never have these problems on my Xbox/PC/PlayStation.

The oculus is super fun and has a ton of potential! It has so many bugs though. I’ve had to factory reset my device twice because of bugs that don’t go away. The most recent time was because the grid (the boundary of the oculus environment) would not go away. Nothing except a factory reset fixed the problem. There have been many other bugs, those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Random user_9901,
The best reasons to use this are all broken.
The app is presented to the user in a useful and intuitive way, but lacks execution. Exhibit A; the recently added Mixed Reality Camera (a feature which made me immediately re-download the app). For those who don’t know, this gives the user the capability to record yourself in your surroundings in VR, with augmented-reality capable phones (iPhone 7 Plus and up)*. This feature just doesn’t work. The app in the headset tells me to use the phone and the phone just casts, doesn’t offer anything else where everything should be. Exhibit B; the phone notifications. This feature works maybe 60% of the time and refuses to let me unpair the headset to the phone via Bluetooth when I need to repair it (I CANT DELETE THE HEADSET FROM MY BLUETOOTH), which I need to repair the system if the notification flow to the headset stops. This is a pity as this capability was added a while ago and still hasn’t really been patched. At this point this app just gives your headset a bunch of half-baked capabilities that only work half of the time. Wouldn’t suggest use after you’ve gotten past initial setup of headset.

*in the instructions it says iPhone X and up, but the supposed capability is aligned with the 7 Plus, and has been seen in other instances working as well as the new phones. In short, there’s 0 reason why this shouldn’t LOAD, not that it should work or connect.
ewizard,
Updated review and Fix for pairing oculus quest
Okay, I finally got past the pairing issue I had where the oculus quest refused to pair. It turns out it was an issue where the iPhone required an iOS update and once I did that, it paired no problem. Developers should please add this to the help with setting up an oculus quest. After that, smooth sailing. App is great, quest works really well. While the battery life will last about 4 hours, it’s still good enough because you don’t want to be in it too long. All the apps and games are great. I hope more become available soon and that more become cross play as I have an oculus rift also and would enjoy some of those games on the quest as well. Beat saber is crazy good! Also, the oculus app has no lag or issues and you can find the games easy. I would like to see a complete browse all feature so you can scroll through every game available - not sure if I missed it. App is same on phone as it is within headset. Flawless integration. I would like to see a power off feature inside the headset instead of pressing and holding the button to shut down. Keep up the great work!
Roxtar73,
Great app for Quest owners
I e seen many 1 star reviews that make no sense. They are rating the app based on their experience with their headsets. If I were to review the Oculus Quest it would definitely get 4.5 stars. The app however gets a full five stars as it does so much cool stuff. My favorite thing is being able to check my battery while charging my headset. Also being able to see if I need new batteries for my controllers is awesome. I know those data points are on the Quest Menu Bar but when your charging you may not have the Quest available to check so you can use the app. I love that I can buy and install games directly to my headsets from the app too. There are just so many cool things this app allows you to do. I’ve seen lots of tech and I’m not easily impressed by tech nowadays however the Oculus Quest and this companion app have highly impressed me. I haven’t been wowed like this by tech since I first wrote a program in basic back on a TRS-80 (Trash 80 for those who remember them) in the mid 80’s(I’m old I know). Thanks for an exciting and joyous experience both in the app and on the console.
Indoraptor30154,
Best VR App ever
I love this app, the oculus quest 2 was released so recently and we got one on the 24th of October 2020, I love this app and what games have to offer, but I think it’s missing one game that I really want to play on VR, and that is Island 359, yeah sure it’s on the app but only on the Oculus Rift and Rift S, and that’s a Headset that you need a pc for. I very much wish Island 359 was available for purchase on Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2, other than that it was amazing, I remember downloading the app way before and found out you need a Facebook account to get into the app, then I uninstalled the app and when my sister got the headset, she had installed the app and I forgot about the matter. After some time, I decided to download the Oculus app once again and at that time I didn’t realize that I had installed the app before so it was reinstallable at the time. I love the app and funnily enough I also found out that one of the games known as “Rec Room” was on VR, PS4, PC, and Mobile, I laughed a lot at the time.

No customer support at all Headset is completely bricked
I was using my oculus quest 2 headset for around 6 months when out of no where my facebook account, which I created for the sole purpose of using the headset was banned. I tried to get this fixed, but thats when I realized there is literally no way to access customer support. Any option for customer support redirects you to their awful website which just gives you pointless tips on how to fix common issues. I tried calling their “support number” but it just says we no longer provide customer service. Now my oculus is basically just an expensive paper weight since I can’t switch to another account without first logging into my current account. I following some of the pointless customer support tips they provide and factory reset the oculus so that I could at least use it even though I would lose all of the games I bought and even that didn’t work. I emailed every customer support email I could find, but none of them have responded. I feel complete stuck and don’t know how to continue. If I could rate this less stars I would. I really just want to play VR, but this process is just awful.
Lost 6 lbs in 5 weeks,
Worst support team and app I’ve ever encountered.
My son received an oculus for his birthday last week. The app has me stuck in a login loop. My husband is having the same problem on his phone. Guess what the support team does? They send you an email at midnight every one or two days telling you they’re trying to help you. I played along for a little while because my son was so looking forward to having an oculus and joining his friends in games. Instead, they asked me questions again and again that I already stated in previous emails, and no one has said anything more helpful than “restart your phone” or “delete the app and download it again.” I spent quite a while on the phone with Apple’s customer support, making sure it wasn’t something on my device/software causing the problem. They were very helpful and we did all we could. It very much appears as though this is a Meta Quest app issue. no one has called even though I live chatted for 45 minutes and repeatedly asked for someone to call. And even though I requested an email for someone to call. Of course no call just emailing back-and-forth occasionally. I wish I knew how to reach someone and get help!
Savannah Franz,
The most useless app on the planet
Went to get on one day and it had randomly logged me off. Considering that it was a year after I created the account and I don’t always write my passwords down (mainly because it’s 99% of the time the same password) so I didn’t think anything would go wrong. I entered my typical password and it didn’t work. I created my account with Facebook, and, amid trying to log in with that, it said my password had failed too. So, like anyone in my situation would do, I went to create a new password. IT TOOK ME BACK TO FACEBOOK. If my password didn’t work for that and I hit “create new password” why would you take me to something that needs my password?! The whole process is ridiculous and half the time doesn’t even recognize my email. I’ve tried the phone number route but it never recognizes that either. Considering that this is a $400 electronic, I’d assume the app that went with it would be able to log me in. And yes, I had it to always log me in. I have been attempting to log in for 5 months now and nothing has happened. If you’re going to make someone spend a hefty amount on something you made, make it work. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!
JPell10,
Lost ability to connect to phone/games
I’ve been playing VR for the last 4 years and have NEVER had this problem before. On a Wednesday I was playing games totally fine and everything was going smoothly, then on Thursday I go to play some more games when all the sudden I couldn’t log into ANY multiplayer games at all. The internet connection was fine but I couldn’t connect to any multiplayer servers on any multiplayer game.
So I had to hard restart my headset and then retry everything as if it were my first time buying/playing VR. NOW, I can’t even connect my phone to my headset because of this app. There’s no way to delete the headset off your account to then try and add it again, so you’re stuck restarting WiFi, phones AND the headset just for it to tell you “Unable to connect”
The VR community is bigger than we think, so seeing how pathetic this app is and having troubles signing in online is VERY disappointing and making me not want to purchase anything of theirs in the future.

PS: Oculus support won’t help you either. They’ll just offer you to pay $150 for a new headset to see if that works rather than solve the original problem.
