Really good game, but some drawbacks
When I bought this game at a discount price, I immediately love it because the gameplay is really good. However, there are some drawbacks for me to give a 5-star rating. First is the frame rate, when there are more enemies and big explosions the frame rate drops immensely while less enemies have no drop. Second is the physical controller support. When I use the gamevice for this game, most of the buttons worked such as the A button for firing and the B button for jumping. But, there is one button that doesn’t work at all which is the X button for grenade. On the gamevice live app, it shows that the X button is mapped for grenade. But, as I keep pressing the X button repeatedly. It does nothing at all.
I would gladly like to give this a 5-star ration if these problems are fixed.

Metal slug - a great conversion, with a few issues
Metal slug was first released on the neo geo in 1996 and was a arcade hit. Now it is on iOS, so it will of course be a little different. First I will point out the bad things. First of all, the sound is a little off. It sounds slower than the original. Second of all, the controls take a bit of getting use to. Now on to the good stuff. The game retains the same gun gameplay and graphics. There is also multiplayer and Game Center rankings. Overall, this game is a pretty nice conversion and is a must have for retro gamers who aren't at home with their neo geo's.

Controls need some fixing
This game would have gotten 5 stars from me but the joystick is just so broken. It's somewhat unresponsive considering you can't take your thumb off of it to move. You have to keep your thumb so close to the joystick it's impossible to move the way you want to.

Good port. Awful controls
Upon opening the game it brought back memories of the arcade and countless quarters well spent. Good memories. Playing this game did not leave good memories. It's a direct port but the joystick controller is awful. I was cursing its existence from moment one. It's not good. I’m either crouching or just standing there pointing straight up. Shooting down a helicopter is incredibly difficult because the joystick has to be in just the RIGHT spot to move and shoot up at the same time. Lets not even discuss the metal slug. For a. .99 cent game I would be more forgiving. But for four dollars I am really disappointed. Hard to enjoy an arcade classic with bad controls. Just my two cents. Might just be me.

Unplayable
I notice the reviews but I really wanted to download it see if it might work but something so simple as moving the buttons around is impossible meaning you can’t and aim and shoot at all you just move right and get killed how is it that players been complaining years and there’s has been zero effort to fix this forget the money this cost we should all complain and get them bam from apple for customer neglect on the apple store

Great game but lacks support for mfi controller
It’s a nice port of a classic title. I have this game on both iphone (ios 12) and ipad air 1 (ios 10). The older version on ipad air works perfectly with my mfi controller (Nimbus), all the buttons are mapped correctly. However, the new version downloaded on iphone now aren’t working with the same controller. The buttons mapping is incorrect and I can’t throw grenades anymore. I give it one star to attract the developer’s attention about this issue

Great Game but please update!!!
I downloaded the whole set of Metal Slug and it is amazing. The only negative is that it only supports 32 bit. Once iOS 11 requires 64 bit, these games will be gone unless we receive an update. I really hope one gets released soon.

Needs an update for modern devices
This game is in serious need of an optimization update. It doesn't make use of the whole screen of the phone and it becomes nearly unplayable because of it. This used to be a decent port of metal slug but has degraded over time as apple's devices have changed over the years. I hope SNK or Dotemu can breathe new life into this version of the game.

Good emulation but lacking full MFI support
I had no issues with the emulation of this classic port. Only problem was lack of full MFI support. I recently upgraded to IOS 13 to use xbox/PS4 controllers and this game does not support the Grenade button (aka Button C). This greatly takes away from the enjoyment of the game as the grenade is used to great effect on the bosses at end of each level. Get your act together DotEMU/SNK and update this port!

Wth is the issue?! 4 years ago game was ok but one day whoever is in charge of the iOS port decides to mess up controls change the audio and give all of a couple hundred thousand folks who spent a whole $6+ on this steaming pile of nonsense, a big f to us. Before running off a quick buck. I hate iOS with a passion for charging for most apps, requiring a password for every little thing, and overall being a buggy mess but f this is unacceptable.
