MIDI Strummer is an AUv3 plugin designed to simulate guitar strumming and picking techniques. It can used to generate MIDI note data which can be sent to either an external synth of choice or the internal soundfont engine.
The inbuilt soundfont player allows you to import all your favourite .SF2 and .DLS soundfonts and use them as a sound source. MIDI strummer has a set of 16 definable chord pads that can hold a series of chords, which in turn can be triggered remotely via MIDI messages or by tapping the pads.
Use the pattern editor to create a series of picking or strumming patterns that can be tranposed to the selected chord pad.
Song mode allows you to chain these chord patterns together to form songs combining both picking and strumming patterns within the same song. Enable 6/12 string on a particular part to emphesize a pert by adding depth.
Strummer also features a number of audio effects that can be used to enhance the audio from the soundfont player. These include overdrive, distortion, tremolo, chorus, phaser, graphic EQ, digital delay and reverb.

This version includes the ability to flip the sequencer grid using the Left Handed button. By default I've flipped it since people wanted it that way by default.
I've added a button to mute the effects called FX Bypass.
The effects and song construction pane have now changed places since song mode is used more in conjunction with the pad settings than effects.
Fixes the spelling mistakes of 'flattened' in the chord names.

Fixed an issue when loaded as a MIDI Effect in Cubasis 2, the background is now opaque.
Changed the functionality when loaded as an Instrument and the Input Mode is set to 'Piano to Guitar'. If you attempt to record into a host in this mode the arps are no longer output, only the original chords will be recorded.

Modulation in songs?
I’m really enjoying midi strummer and especially like the custom pad feature. I don’t find the song creation as useful as I’d like because I can’t find any way to modulate. Once you’ve picked the root chord you’re stuck with that key. Is there some way in a song pattern to insert a chord outside the key? So far I’ve had to revert to using the pads which gets tedious when recording a long sequence. Still a great app for sure!

Converted my CME x-key to a keytar
Fantastic app with really nice customization and sound. Would like to see midi learn for cc messages to control the on screen function to make this usable with a wind controller. Also I would like to be able to reorganize the saved settings. You can hold your finger on the setting and move it but goes back to its old place when you let go. More detailed documentation would be a plus. Especially what chords can be played on keyboard and how you should form then.

I love what I think it’s supposed to do…
Cool app but something is off or I am not getting it correctly. (When used as a midi FX in AUM) It’s receiving a cord progression from helium and it will forward MIDI info With one bar latency. It only works correctly with its internal sounds. Midi ch out keeps returning to default on every startup.

Has potential but…
1. You can’t change chords mid pattern in latch mode. It seems to bug out and change half the chord so it sounds terrible.
2. You can’t strum with a midi controller! You can control nearly everything except the most important thing. I want to be able to strum up and down to my own rhythm on a midi controller.
Without these, it’s just a sequencer. And one where the UI is quite clunky.

How hard can it be to get MIDI out of this thing?
Well designed interface and sounds great.
But other MIDI plugins have a simple button to copy and paste MIDI patterns you’ve created for easy pasting into a DAW. This one doesn’t. Why? So frustrating I take 30 minutes to design a strum pattern I like and I have no straightforward way to get it into my DAW.

Great App, only guitar-centric strummer and arpeggiator
Great app for what it does. I dream of the world where this has a similar interface to Helium, to save and export patterns to midi. As well as a way to tap or strum patterns manually and record. Picturing an interface reminiscent of guitarism.

There weren’t many reviews here, but everything was 4 or 5 stars so I took a chance, and WOW am I glad I did. This app is positively sick. Super easy to incorporate into GarageBand. Really intuitive interface with a lot of depth. Highly recommend it!

The was sort of working before. It was always crashing in IMPC pro 2 on iPhone 14 pro max.
Now it just says failed to load, it also fails to load stand alone. Now can I’m locked out of several projects that I utilized this with. Besides the latest update was the first update in a while. I hope this can be fixed in an update soon.

Perhaps the best midi plugin in history
It’s sublime!
Sure, trigger guitars ... but get a nice finger picking pattern and try a piano!! Oh my... add some fancy chords to the pads and impress yourself. So much so I want to ask the dev for some control over pedal damping. I think that would work for guitars as well...
Seriously brilliant ... runs in Cubasis 3 fine here. Recordings are in time and I find it’s a joy to tweak.
