BigPermisMaximus,
Meh
I’m somewhat disappointed with the information section. It’s lacking in many respects and is frighteningly milquetoast regarding your first, fourth and fifth amendments. And most surprisingly not a single word on second amendment rights which is probably the one most likely to get you shot during a police encounter. You guys gotta update the info section. Maybe some info video links to learn how to interact with police. I mean, that’s the whole point of the app, right?
DrZRocker,
No option to test drive without alerting emergency contacts
I downloaded this app as a “just in case” thing to have on my phone. I had read reviews that some people had problems recording, so I tried recording a test 2-second video just to see what the controls were, and if it still records if you lock your phone (it doesn’t). I immediately got a panicked call from my emergency contact asking if I was okay. “Uh? Yeah? I’m just sitting here on my couch.” They told me that the ACLU texted them that I was involved in an incident. I had no clue, and there was no notification to me!

I really want to love what the ACLU is doing here, but so many things in this app (like the example above) indicate it received minimal or zero UX research.

Failed Miserably
When I downloaded this app I honestly thought that I would never have to use it. But, I did have to today and it failed BIG TIME! The app was slow in responding and the video freezes preserving only the audio in part. Huge chunks of the beginning of the video are missing. I do like the fact that it did notify my contacts right away. I intend to file charges against the officer but am worried that the video take here will be of any value. Going forward I will only use the built in camera without this app. One final point/question: why isn’t the video available in my downloads? ACLU: please pull this app. It is a huge disservice to the public. Also, the support link here goes to a non-existent website. Apple: ???
PhotoguyD38,
Info input issue
I haven’t used the app as I just installed it. The app has an inadequate character limit for the personal e-mail field. Ridiculous. Pretty naive coding. In my case I needed 3 more characters to complete my email. This is a work email that has been in use for two decades. Pretty lame.
AnonymousMeMystery123,
I hope no one relies on this…😳
I’m a legal professional. When I saw this app, I was hoping it would be a reliable source of information. This is the United States; Equal rights should mean equal treatment. But I’m reading this completely mortified right now. I know the law like the back of my hand and don’t need any further insight. But if I relied on this stuff for “educational purposes” (as stated)…I’d be educating myself with information riddled with errors. You need to add a liability statement somewhere on here. Let me know if you need assistance with that - I’ll gladly do so for free.
222IndyGirl,
Not well designed for anything but video
Why do I have to go through the video function to access the rights info articles? Why does the app indicate that it’s submitting a video when all I did was navigate to the articles? Why are the articles exclusively about California rights when I have a different state’s ACLU chapter selected in my profile? I can’t say whether the video functionality works as advertised but the rest of the app is pretty useless as designed.
N2022222222222,
Beware
This app crashed when I needed it most. I really don’t think it should be on the App Store in its current state. I would’ve been able to document the attack on me if I had used my phone’s camera instead of this, but I feared my assailant would steal or break my phone. It is dangerous to have this app, as it is better to not have it than to use it and have it fail. Very disappointed.
Dave Mac ^.^,
Missing feature? False advertising?
The ad that got me to download the app suggested that the app would link with Siri so you could say "Hey Siri I've been pulled over" and the app would start recording. Apparently, that is not the case? Major bummer. >.<
Roilator,
iPhone 8 Can’t enter info
Huge bugs!! Trying to enter my contact info but the text disappears behind the keyboard soon as i start typing. Basically renders the app useless for me. Please actually test and fix this. This app has such potential but completely unusable as is. The way the world is now We need this to tool!! Please!!!
