Description

Better looking skin starts with healthy skin habits.

Our surroundings are filled with environmental aggressors that can affect your skin: UV, pollution, pollen, heat and humidity. My Skin Track UV and its companion app allows you to see, in real time, your personalized UV exposure, while also measuring pollution, pollen, and humidity based on your location.

The app also provides personalized tips and skincare recommendations that can help improve your healthy skin habits. The UV Index info from this app can also be integrated into the Health App to see the location-based UV Index wherever you are.

Also available through the app: My Skin Track PoreScan, a skin analysis powered by artificial intelligence and developed with dermatologists to help those with clogged pores, raised imperfections, and residual marks achieve their skin goals and keep track of progress over time.

NikonJunkieGirl,
Not accurate
Not accurate. Shoots up to beyond max UV + stays there even after I get inside in the dark. I wish this would show spikes when I am exposed and then not.... instead, the app just goes up to 137% at 2 p.m. unless I stay in the dark all day, then it shows zero. I avoid the sun, but like today I was outside at 2 p.m. talking to a contractor for about 40 minutes. Then I came inside for 6 more hours... why doesn’t the trend graph show a drop after I come inside? I am not sitting in front of a window. Update this app to accurately reflect the ups and downs in exposure.
wwducat,
Largely useless now
Back when I first got the sensor (apparently no longer available in stores) it actually worked pretty well. The app was straight forward, did what it was supposed do, and provided useful daily exposure readings.

Then with each app update, it got progressively worse until the $70 sensor ended up unused on my desk.

I found the sensor a couple of months ago, re-downloaded the app and tried again.

It was (unbelievably) even worse than before. The app was constantly telling me to scan the sensor at all hours of the day & night or trying to sell me something or collecting information for the company mailing list.

When (often not) I could get it to scan, it said either I’d gotten zero exposure even though I’d been outside in bright sun for hours or that I’d gotten 100, 200, or 300 percent of exposure.

I could buy those exposure levels IF they had any correlation to how long I’d been outside and the UV levels reported by the app.

They didn’t!

I just trashed the app and the sensor. Both were far more frustrating to use than any benefit they provided.

Bottom line, set a timer using Siri to remind you to reapply sunscreen or go inside.

Ultimately that is more efficient and effective than relying on this app and it’s associated sensor. Setting a timer will also save you enough to buy a lot of sunscreen.
mikewest71,
App with a hardware issue
This app doesn’t work without the sensor, a $60 piece of hardware that tracks your UV.

There are a few issues with the app, but the most important thing is a serious design flaw in the sensor clip. You are supposed to clip this to your clothes. Unfortunately the clip is not tight as all. It sticks well to a sweater or coat, but not to a dress shirt or t shirt or other thing piece of clothing. The first 3 days I wore it on my shades-this worked fine. The next day I decided to put it on my shirt, as my shades go on and off. Within 3 hours I had lost the sensor.... judging by other reviews, I am not the only one. $60 gone... not replacing it!

In any case, I think the app needs some improvement. Too many reminders every time I open the app. And it should be easy to add reminders to reapply sunscreen or to add a function that calculates you daily sun allowance if you wear a certain SPF.
TravelHardyLlama,
Good app, limited validity to information
The idea of max-sunstock is a bit limited given that it does nothing to incorporate sunscreen into the estimate of over exposure. Being able to input the SPF of sunscreen applied and the interval would make the metric infinitely better as an individual cannot do the math in their head to say “okay, SPF 15 filters out 97% of UVA/UVB, so my actual score is only X.” Even something as simple as a timer to remind individuals to re-apply after 80 minutes would go a long way to improve the app.
never_tan,
Don’t waste your money
I got this as a Christmas gift and was looking forward to better tracking my UV exposure. The app worked pretty well for me sometimes glitchy on the scans and have to redo but otherwise not bad. Great reminders. My problem is the gadget itself would not stay secure to my clothing. Now it’s lost and after only a few weeks use really expensive to be so easy to come off. It never stayed on t shirt collars only on thicker material. I wasn’t sure what I’d do in the summer but for now in the winter it was ok. I lost it today and have been outside most of the day. No clue where it could be and no way to recover it. Huge disappointment. Huge.
DanishCasanova,
Fraudulent app that absconds with your personal info!!!!
This app must be part of a scheme to steal your personal info and sell it on the DARK WEB. Apple should discontinue its association with this product and company immediately.
I have tried with two different email addresses to utilize this product and both times after logging in and providing information the next time I try to login it locks me out. Customer service has stated that they have reset the account but still doesn’t allow access.
I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it and the same thing happens. The company La Roche-Posay has not responded back to me. WARNING!
Na No Da,
Too Easily Lost
I’m on my second device due to how easy it is to lose it. The only reason I bought a second one was due to it being a gift and not wanting to explain how a $60 item popped off of the clip and was lost!

The idea is great and when I use it, it’s incredibly helpful. There needs to be a way to find it if misplaced and a better way to keep it on your clothes and such.
macintoshdan,
Pretty cool, minor issue with app
This is a pretty slick item, been following this technology since it was a concept so I figured I’d be one of the first to buy it. App seems pretty solid, only issue I have is that it keeps saying I need to give it location permission when I did already.
MissMatlock,
Worked fine...for a month
Seemed to be fine, and then it required to scan the sensor twice to get a reading, then it stopped recording anything. I took it back to the Apple Store and they graciously gave me a brand new one, I scanned it in store and got a reading of 17% and then it too stopped working. That leads me to believe there’s something wrong with the app. But when I contacted customer service they said to contact Apple. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think I’m ready to return it for the last time.
Kenken player,
useless
This product fails completely at the main feature: to warn you when you had to much sun. It doesn’t. You have to manually and in a cumbersome way scan the sensor to find out if you had too much sun. What’s the point in that? If I pay enough attention to know when to scan the sensor, I already know when it’s time to seek some shade.
Oh, it does do well at the other purpose of the app: pushing lots of ads for skin-care products.
