DARKDEATH98,
Hasn't aged well, but doesn't matter
Myst was an amazing game back in the day when I first got a mac and played it on launch day. The game is still a great game for me (as well as it's four other installments), but it seems that many will not get into it because they expect a GAME out of it. It's not really a game, it's an EXPERIENCE! You need to explore, put together the nonverbal narrative, figure out where you are and what's happened, simply immerse yourself in the worlds you find.
Riven, Exile and End Of The Ages are also good, but I should warn you that those are REALLY hard compared to Myst. I beat Myst in roughly 10 hours without the hints (except when I needed to read colors, since I'm %100 colorblind), but in Riven, Exile and End Of The Ages I needed a partial walkthrough to get anywhere at all. Overall, a good introduction to a fantastic series, but know that you'll be doing some aimless wandering, and taking notes is essential...
AlsoNotBornYesterday,
I played this years ago. Going to buy RealMyst
It's Myst. There are decades of reviews that will let you know if it's the type of game you'll like. I loved it! 😍

If your phone can run RealMyst you should get that version. The improved graphics will be worth the extra $2. I own this app and remember that the world with the tree houses was impossible to navigate in this version without cheating and using the walkthrough. I am going to buy that one to replay it.

‼️💾SAVE💾‼️the game before you make any choices. There are a few endings and only one is correct. It's funny to try all of the wrong endings but only after you've finished the game correctly. Iirc the strategy guide will warn you not to get too clever too soon. I stumbled upon the clue to the final task on my first attempt about two hours into the game without realizing there was no way back. Bad idea 😉. Very glad I checked the strategy guide and it explicitly warns players not to complete that task. If you do that, you have to start the game over. Even if you don't plan on using the walkthrough, do glance at it to get an idea of where you shouldn't be fiddling around.

App Feedback
Loved this game as a kid and wanted to play again. Highly recommend if you like difficult puzzle games. Could not figure out the difference between this and “real Myst”. Would be helpful if this was described. I would have paid the $2 if I had known there was an extension to the game. Disappointed.
Awe3,
Excellent on iPhone 5s.
I originally played this game on the Sega Saturn game system and was amazed by the images. Yes the are static 3D pictures but the fact that someone was able to create them gave me happy dreams of the future of gaming graphics. The game works just fine on my new phone and I had little trouble navigating the worlds. Sometimes I went the wrong way but it was mostly due to screen size and finger size. I beat it fairly soon after buying it but I can always let my young family members play it when I see them. It's still fun to explore. Please add control support.
ElleBlue3,
Disappointing - hasn’t aged well, doesn’t use gestures/features
I loved Myst (and Riven) back in the day on my Mac. Sadly, this is a poor port. First, it’s an iOS (not iPadOS) game, so the graphics on the iPad are grainy. Second, the navigation is the EXACT same as the original and doesn’t use any gestures. Thus tap to turn 90 degrees in that direction, tap to move forward, tap to activate something.

Compared to other games, particularly The Room, Myst is lame. No zoom in, zoom out, just finger taps instead of mouse clicks and poor graphics. These limitations take away the enjoyment of navigating and exploring, which is the whole point of the game.

The clues are hard, but there are so many guides out there if you really want to find them. I wish that there were puzzles and in-game hints (like The Room) so I wouldn’t use my bored frustration to go look for a guide just to get through it.

I suppose it might be okay on the iPhone, but then you don’t get the immersive experience of the larger screen. Myst should either be kept as a laptop game, or updated to use the screen for more than just a mouse-click stand-in (and add some puzzles, in-game hints, something). I played for an hour, then tried another day, then deleted the app.

Myst is phenomenal, but this isn’t great on iphone
Myst was one of my all-time favorite PC games, so I was excited to play this. However, it’s really finicky on an iphone. I’m sure that’s because it’s just a straight port of the PC version and isn’t optimized for a mobile device, but sadly it’s just too hard to play in any serious manner. I’ll try it on my iPad and see if it’s any better, but if you don’t see this updated, that means it wasn’t any better. For nostalgia it’s kind of cool, but not worth $4.99 or even .99 for that matter as you’ll give up after a few minutes of exploration. If you’ve never played Myst, don’t bother.
yaaroti,
Exactly as I remembered, just on iphone.
I have played every version of Myst since its inception. The app store version is what I expected: Myst on iPhone. Point and click (tap and go) to some pretty neat locations. The game itself isn't too long but the puzzles still remain fun. Knowing the game will for some kill the replay ability, but overall I still to this day enjoy the world cyan created. You might too.
RoninOtter,
The classic, in your pocket
Myst remains a favorite, despite its age and the fact that replays are not any different. Having the ability to walk through Channelwood or sit at the telescope in Stoneship is lovely to have in your pocket anytime, and it’s a pleasure to be able to introduce a staple of story-based puzzle gaming to new audiences. I hope it never leaves the store!
borderx146,
Awesome!!
Just like I remember as a kid only better! I’m not restrained by my slow computer any more. This is a great game that really makes you think. If you played it when it originally came out or are looking for a solid game with no micro purchases this is it! It’s a must have!
L.e.a.n.n.e.,
Such a classic
I played through in a few days. This was my first video game. Absolutely love it!

There seems to be a glitch at the end though since I can’t give the last page to the father. :/ so I can’t end it and play again.
