Full support for Apple Watch Series 7

That means taking full advantage of the massive new display, as well as support for the new keyboard.

(Don't worry, if you have an Apple Watch Series 6 or lower, you'll continue to be able to use FlickType)
1.3.1
2019-08-09
This update fixes a bug where no one could log in (sorry about that!)

It also adds a great new FlickType keyboard, try it out!

Key features of the new keyboard:
- Added a super-smart spacebar. This is no ordinary spacebar -- miss it by a bit, and it will still work. Hit it on accident, and it will ignore you!
- Added a delete key.
- To change the current suggestion, use the Digital Crown.
- To dismiss the keyboard, flick down -- then use the crown to move the cursor as usual.

The FlickType keyboard is developed by Kosta Eleftheriou, so huge thanks to him!

“New Message” button in the Inbox.
New optional dark icon (Pro).
Basic moderation options (remove posts and comments).
Edit Comments.
Delete Comments.
Unread indicator for the inbox.

Fixed:
Default subreddits weren’t loading automatically.
Realllllyy long comments would crash Nano.
OP comments weren’t highlighted in some cases.

Changed:
User-Agent to comply with Reddit rules.

Ps. Only one person has found what “???” toggle does, if you do, let me know!

Curljay,
Finally...a truly functional watch app!
I’ve never left a review before...after trying out soooo many watch apps I often feel disappointed and rarely do I want to pay for an app without trying it first. I’m in love with this app for my news feeds. I love that it provides a full download of the article. It’s extremely useful and easy to use UI. The free version is amazing and provide more than enough articles however after seeing the functionality I am definitely going to pay for it.

2 small points. I wasn’t sure if paying for the pro version was a 1 time fee or monthly or annual. Appreciate if that is clarified somewhere. Also in the free version or the pro version I don’t have the option to select which subscriptions are accessible. It seems like only when I delete / unsubscribe via the app to a community does it place a new community in my thread vs seeing all my subscriptions and selecting the 5 free ones I want available. I wonder when I pay for the pro version if it just adds all my communities or if I can select only the ones I want to access via Nano.

I wasn’t a Reddit user until now. Thank you for the developing such a useful app. I love that it plays video, it’s ease of use, and overall that it’s functional in every aspect. I wish other apps followed the same approach as you did. Thank you!!
nintendoway,
Reddit on AW.... amazing.
Before learning about this app, I never even considered being able to use reddit on my wrist. However, with the amazing functionality and usability of Nano just like a reddit client I would use on another device, I am blown away by the new opportunity that I now have on my Apple Watch. Nicely done!

One bit of feedback that I would really like to provide is the possibility of adding a data saver mode. Being someone with very limited data, it would be nice to only have images and other media download when I intend to. Right now, you have the option to disable them loading when scrolling through the full list of a subreddit (which is great). However, I’d really like to see that extend in that, when you click a reddit post, you could be able to only download media if you click a specific “Download” button rather than have it auto-download.
MADman3131,
Reddit on Apple Watch is the future of browsing.
I feel like I don’t use my Watch that much other than for checking the time and texts. Luckily I was wondering if Reddit was available on Apple Watch, and I found the perfect app for it. The free version does have limited features, but Apollo isn’t meant to be enjoyed that way. People seem to forget that developers need some way to support themselves, so the in app purchase to pro is an inoffensive “pay your own price model” to get all of the features. Overall a solid Apple Watch app and solid Developer. I recommend checking out Chirp for your Twitter Apple Watch needs.
Gojirra,
Every watchOS owner needs this.
This gives you everything reddit has to offer and helps get the most of watchOS.

Being able to read articles, view pictures and some clips on the go. And having a community driven aggregated news and entertainment source on your wrist is truly amazing.

The app is smooth, compact and the design uses the limited screen space very well. ForceTouch is utilised well giving you your app settings and reddit navigation.

Here is where I was unsure to rate at a 4 or a 5 but ultimately landed on a 5 because what it does do, it does it very well. The app lets you view images from pretty much any host without issue. It also utilises reader mode to read articles as well. And you can view gifs(gifVs?) from imgur. What it doesn’t do is offer an inapp player for reddit hosted videos or gfycat.

All in all this is a fantastic app, worth the few bucks to support a good product and indie developer and one of biggest must own apps for any watchOS users.
Meercat02,
Amazing and highly functional
A truly awesome app for the Apple Watch, I’ve had over 2 years and it’s a must have for certainty!! You add your favorite subreddits etc, then bam they notify you on watch if you want the notifications that part is your choice. But the complete functionality is amazing with how the interface is exactly like the phone app and the amount of content to scroll through is immense much larger than I’ve seen on any similar app for the watch. Shows the photos, comments etc everything that you could possibly want, is there on tap!
Tyler.2012,
An excellent companion
Successes
- finally, a reddit client for my watch! Is it for replacing a phone? No, but it can if you just need minor browsing, checking a particular sub regularly, or responding to messages. Exactly what i needed
- interface is really good for watch OS. Loads pretty smoothly, with occasional lag on thumbnail-heavy subs if my battery is low. Otherwise, few issues.
- a discord server for interacting with the dev(s) and providing feedback. Really cool about realtime troubleshooting. Several bugs I have mentioned to the dev have already been resolved (and hence removed from this review)
- 3 options to pay what you want to support the dev. That fact alone made me want to give a higher tier payment for further support.

Needs Improvement
- a minor visual bug when switching between apps (already being addressed)
- the option to select which sub pops up when I first open the app does not currently work

Keep up the great work!
Inomfood,
Color me impressed
I didn't think that Reddit would be able to port to the watch well at all. I assumed that all Reddit apps for the watch were going to be crappy and lack functionality.

This app is completely different though. It has 95% of the functionality the phone app has, runs smoothly, and has a great interface with well thought through haptic feedback and sounds.

I would like to see one specific feature in future updates: Account switching. I have multiple Reddit accounts that I use daily and I'd love to be able to quickly switch between them on the watch via a 3d touch in the "my profile" or "settings" pages.
I would also like to see chats, but these aren't quite as important to me.
TheLunchRaven,
Pros and cons
The app layout itself is great, easy to navigate and whatnot. Seems very well put together. Problem is, it will just up and crash on random posts I open up, and if I go back in and try to open those posts, crash again. Other posts will work fine.

Also, you can’t read long posts, it says “save to read full article on your iPhone” or something like that. Kinda defeats the purpose of having it on my watch.

I would 100% pay for premium if the app didn’t crash everytime I sneezed. That’s the only thing that held me back
Intelleblue,
Use Reddit? Use Apple Watch? Then you need Nano
Nano is the best Reddit viewer for Apple Watch. The design is intuitive, and the app itself is easy to use. All the functionality of Reddit on your wrist! It's easy to mistake it for an official Reddit app.

Yes, some features cost money, but it's a one time payment, and you are directly supporting the app's creator.

Oh, did I mention that there are NO ADS WHATSOEVER even with the free version? Because there are NO ADS WHATSOEVER even with the free version.
mrs_mccarley,
5/7
Awesome app. I was only going to get the free version but decided to go with the $1.99 pro version (there are others depending on what you feel like paying, which is perfect). I’m so glad I did.

The developer who made nano is truly deserving of each and every subscriber’s $1.99. It is quite literally the least you can do for the individual who brought reddit to your wrist.
