The Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island's largest cultural organization, preserves and protects the best of Newport County's architectural heritage. Beautiful mansions and beautiful app
My wife downloaded it when We were in New York. We saw a bit of it then. When we actually went to Newport, they gave us the same app but in their own phones. Everything is so beautiful. It took us out of this world for 45 minutes. Boy ! How much money is spent here ! The app is nicely done. Musical background made it even better. Voice is great. Story is interesting. We had time for only one mansion. Next time, we will do 3 more.

Excellent - Don’t tour without it
Downloaded this app when I toured the mansion. This was extremely helpful and the app is beautifully set up as you navigate from one part of the mansion to another. Very informative and I liked additional nuggets of info that were optional. Highly recommend. Would’ve not enjoyed the tour nearly as much if I didn’t have this app.

Best museum app ever
This app works more smoothly than any other Tour app that I’ve used. The descriptions snd stories are interesting and just the right length. It’s so easy and interesting that I’m actually listening to some of the additional stories several days after having visited the tourist site.

What I enjoyed most about the virtual tour was my ability to go at my own pace. I could repeat content, I could listen to additional interviews, and I could conduct research while the tour was paused.

iPhone Audio Tours
This app worked fine during my “Elms” tour. It was a big improvement over the old hand held devices previously provided by the Society. The app didn’t seem to work quite as well during the “Marble House” tour. It jumped ahead in the tour sequence and I had to use the “back” button numerous times to go back to where I actually was on the tour.

Inconvenient
Extremely inconvenient. This tour definitely needs a guide. Other people around trying to use the app without headphones makes the tour distracting and troubleshooting the app during the tour is extremely frustrating and takes away from the experience. Definitely recommend opting for a tour with a guide or just skipping anything involving this app in general. The second tour I just deleted the app because I enjoyed the ‘tour’ more without trying to use the app. Don’t even bother downloading.

Stunning
Absolutely stunning houses. We toured the Breaker's and the Marble House. So interesting to hear and see the history of the rich Vanderbilt family. Highly recommend the audio guide you can download!!!n.

The app is fine, but it can not replace live, knowledgeable people.

Mansions app
Was wonderful to use the app & be able to go at your own pace. The app made it so easy to hear vs. trying to listen to a tour guide & following a big group. Thank you!

Perfect companion to a tour
We used this while touring The Elms & Breakers in Newport, RI. I highly recommend it, also keep it for a bit and tour the places you missed in Newport when you get home.
