This app organizes the vast and varied library of Rick Steves’ audio content into geographic-specific playlists so that travelers can enjoy ready access to the information that relates specifically to their travel plans. Many tracks provide general cultural and sightseeing information gleaned from his public radio program, Travel with Rick Steves. Other tracks are self-guided tours to great sights and historic walks. While we travel there’s lots of down time, and this application can both entertain and teach. Rick Steves Audio Europe will hopefully make your European travels more meaningful and more fun.

Love this app
My partner and I took a trip to Italy this past summer, and this guide was such an important part of our vacation. The guide had episodes for all of the major cities we visited, as well as particular ruins and sites within the cities. They never seemed too long, always giving just enough information, and allowed us to skip around however we pleased. The maps were also extremely helpful. My favorite were the walking tours around the city, easy to follow and doable. Some pieces were a tad outdated but otherwise we loved it. This audio guide not only saved us money, but also supplemented our trip perfectly. Highly recommend for anyone heading to Europe!!

I’m an evangelist for this app
I travel a lot for work, and often get a few fun layovers or extended vacations in some fun places in Europe. The first time I visited Paris and this time (now that I have the app!), were totally different experiences. It’s nice to walk by and admire things, but to get to know the history of locations, buildings and famous spots was a game changer. I was able to appreciate the cities I was in more knowing more about the culture and history. He takes you to the most important places and even takes you by historical cafés to enjoy local treats. It really was like having a free tour guide in every city I went to! 10/10 recommend!

Not as good as audio guide sold at Pompeii entrance
This audio tour is more an appetizer than the real thing money will buy at the entrance of the archeological ruins. To begin you should expect to spend less than 3 hours touring through Pompei and Steve’s only give you 39 min, but since it’s only in English and if you’re visiting with someone not anglophone you’re companion will benefit from a more complete guided solution and also easier to customize according to your specific interests since you’ll punch in the numbers related to each site on the map steve readily it’s impossible to do without. Another benefit not using this guide is you won’t have to put up with American centric jokes which do not add to the experience. When in Roma... and same goes for the recommended list of restaurants in Steve guide, you’re much better off asking locals where the eat than showing off you Steve

Simp for Rick
I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for an app but this app is a game changer. My partner and I were able to optimize your experience in many of Europe’s magical places while crunched for time (Acropolis and city tour during a 5hr layover in Athens anyone?) on a budget (Informative, well-timed, and engaging private tour with MAPS?! And it’s free?! How?!), in need of entertainment during bus/plane/train rides, and when you’re short on luck with WiFi (thank you Rick and your incredible maps for taking the wheel when Google Maps was not an option). I can’t recommend this app enough.

Private Tours for FREE!
Not one to usually write a review for an app, but had to for this one. Used it just about a month ago for a trip to Rome and Paris with my husband. Wow! We felt like we were on a private tour without having to pay for one! And Rick's radio episodes were also very helpful to understand the culture and find hidden treasures sightseeing. Also own guidebooks by Rick Steves that went oh so well with this app. I only wish something like this was done for other parts of the world, including US.
Tip: get good wire-free headphones to use between you and your better half - you'll really feel like you are on a private tour!

Absolutely amazing free content!! Total lifesaver for traveling
Rick Steve’s was on the trip with us! We saved so much money and time using his tours and really valued this app! Thank you so much for developing it and making our travel experiences so much better.
We used apple air pods so we could listen together while walking through Italy and it truly felt like our personal guide! We learned history, had levity with jokes, and got tips on where to go. We also used his guidebook for suggestions on eateries and that’s how we found this free app.

I wish I could give this 100 stars
Let me star off my saying I can’t believe these are free. These audio tours contain wealths of information. When you sign up for a tour at a site in Europe, you are taking a crap shoot as far the the guide. They can have broken English and not be that informed. Also, if you miss something the guide says, it’s gets tiring to keep asking him to say it again...that is what the 20 second back button in the app is for! Thank you Rick Steve’s for making my solo Europe trips so much more enriched!

Great content, poor pause/play support
Amazing audio tours, with PDFs for some showing maps. Would be great to be able to search the tour titles, and play/pause using the system play/pause (like with AirPods) would really help when traveling and leaving the phone in a pocket to save battery! For those have trouble with this, you have to open the app to correctly resume the audio.

Inappropriate and Unnecessary Comments
Very pervy comments made me and many others I was with uncomfortable. Not suitable for kids. I had to stop listening a few days into our trip because the comments made me very uncomfortable. The basis of information was nice, but he went on and on about certain useless information and sexual innuendos. Very unnecessary and puts a damper on the beautiful sights and art you come to see. Also, a lot typical routes one might take in certain sights, he would go the complete opposite and inconvenient ways. Definitely avoid Colosseum, The David, and Eiffel Tower tracks. Those had my skin crawling. Creepy old dude needs a new profession.

Incredible
This free resource has added so much color to my time studying abroad in Italy. I would much rather listen to the walking tours in this app than jockey around a large tour group trying to listen and take in the place at the same time. I’m impressed by the wide range of topics from history to modern culture across Europe. Perfect to download before your trip for some entertainment while riding public transport.
