Beautiful Design
Love the aesthetics & design of this app. I enjoy the option of having a background. The flexibility to search quotes by author, subject, etc. as well as being able to add your own quotes and save your favorites are also nicely designed! Great features for the price.

Reduced my rating
2 yrs ago I wrote “I love the ability to add custom quotes and having the ability to remove quotes included with the app would be ideal.” (The rest of of prior review is below.) This has not been changed or addressed by the devs so I need to find an app with more functionality.
“I use this app for writing speeches and creating training but I must be able to quote from sources that I trust. Some quotes sound good out of context but are unusable when placed in context or when the background of the source is known. I have to spend time researching sources and would rather remove quotes that don’t serve my purposes.”

Notable Quotes Shines
Notable Quotes shines with superb user interface, not an overly large quantity of excess quotations. I especially enjoy the ease at which I can add personal favorites to the mix. Sure, I have other "note taking" apps on my iPod, but having a space purely dedicated for quotes and one that is so aesetically pleasing won me over.
I love that I can turn the background images off. I usually need a reminder of thoughts/words that turn the tide completely on their own, without other associations. But I also imagine it would be a fantastic added functionality to upload a personal image or images for the backgrounds of certain quotes. For example, my niece has some great one liners and I'd pair her image on the page.
I'm fine without Reagan quotes, but if you feel strongly about a certain one, a polished Churchill or Steinbeck passage, then you can easily add it yourself! REALLY, only a 1 STAR rating because it doesn't contain quotes you want?? I guess the developer was supposed to read YOUR mind. I will never understand the outrageous entitlement, the many unreasonable expectations that so many app store reviewers have.

Sells Itself
Being a long-term apple fan, I've always been a big fan of the app store. I've realized, to my misfortune now that the other technology companies have caught up with apple, that app store has few apps that are worth seriously worth buying. This is absolutely an exception. It not only has endless quotes from the biggest thinkers of all time (Mark Twain and Virginia Woolf to name a few) but also has favorites and even a spot to add ur own quotes. My only change to this near-perfect app is that u will have the ability to submit some of the quotes you've recorded to the database. Thanks developers. I wish there were more apps like this one instead of junk scams.

Best quotation app I found in the entire app store. Tried several before, just to be completely disappointed with the content and the quality of those other apps.
This app is well designed, categorized, good content, accurate spelling and quotes are cited accurately (at least I have not come across any so far...)
In addition, I can add my own favorite quotes if they are not already in the app's database and you can save, back-up or share your favorites either automatically or manually without any "hiccups" or "hangups".

Cream of the crop
This app gets it right where so many other quote apps fail: It's classy, easy to navigate, lets you search, browse by subject AND by author, mark your favorites, add your own quotes, email the whole list of your quotes, and turn off the photo backgrounds if you find them overbearing (which I do). Tapping on the author's name brings you to the appropriate Wikipedia page. There are many quote apps; I own three or four, and have passed up several other awful apps. This is the best I've tried. Nicely done!

Really nice app
This is in general a good app with a clean interface. I especially like being able to add quotes so that they are fully integrated for search by subject, author etc. The search facility lets you search for any word, or author so is really handy. A couple of enhancements would be nice for quote I add

Great app!
I'm an avid reader & amateur writer. Every writer needs a quote database & I've been keeping a log of my favorites for years. No longer do I have an endless stream of them on my notepad. With this tool I can add & organize quotes by author & subject. Not to mention the wealth of new ones already within the app. Being able to backup to email is a added bonus. I will definitely recommend this one to my friends.
