Family location sharing allows parents to track their children on a map and see if registered sex offenders live nearby. How the OffenderWatch monitoring Works
1 Monitor Your Child’s Device
The OffenderWatch app monitors who calls, emails, or messages your child, and tracks the location on of child’s iPhone—working silently in the background and not interfering with the phone’s use.
2 Check Against Sex Offender Data
We use the most accurate data available. It is provided directly by the law enforcement agencies who manage registered sex offenders. The app checks to see if a registered sex offender is attempting to contact your child or if your child is lingering near an offender’s address.
3 Alert Parents, Offer Assistance
Parents get alerted if a registered offender contacts your child. Ask your child about the communication and talk to them about online safety with people they don’t know in real life. If the contact seems inappropriate or troubling, it is easy to contact law enforcement from the app. Your local law enforcement may then initiate an investigation.

Paid version not working
I upgraded to the Family Watch paid version to use the tracking. Apple confirmed the subscription, but when attempting to used any of the paid features, I’m being promoted to upgrade again. However, even attempting to select the upgrade button does nothing.
Canceling the subscription, disappointing not to be able to use. But the free version does what it says it will with no issues so far.

Does not work
Apparently, Vermont only uses this database for the public to search for offenders. And the only way to view this information is through the app.
Nothing shows up. Have tried multiple addresses just to make sure it want me, but the app just shows a map - with absolutely zero information about convicted sex offenders on it. It just looks like google maps.
Tried to go to the help section and it’s just FAQ and no way to contact anyone to ask how to better use the app. This should be public information. The free version doesn’t do anything - and you shouldn’t have to pay for this information anyway.

Thing to be aware
Some of these locations are in error or lack information. I clicked on several locations that took me to the national sex offender registry and was unable to view any info. Also when people move, if the address was a former sex offender address, it is not regularly updated. So you could find yourself targeted by individuals. There is a lot of potential here, but the best thing you can do is learn to be alert to you surroundings, and act accordingly. Fortunately, my place is not on the registry. Something I wish to have asked before my purchase. I got lucky on that one.

Very Interested but Confused
Based on the website’s info video I am very interested in this app, I downloaded it, signed up, but after creating a login it, my only choice is to chose a $9.99/yr subscription before I can do anything else. On the website it’s touted as a FREE app and a list of all these things that are included and does not say for a annual subscription price. Very misleading and disappointed if this is truly the case.

Protecting Offenders?
This app is the only way Vermont state says you can identify their registered sex offenders. From the website they make you download an app and register an account with all your information. Just for the app to give me error codes EVERY time I try to search an area. Why is it this difficult to identify sex offenders? Why should I have to register an account to find out public information that will keep my children safe? Why does society protect these people by making it so hard to identify who they are by making it IMPOSSIBLE with faulty apps? Devastating. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

Best app of it’s kind on market
Have seen a lot of sex offender apps but apparently only Safe Virtual Neighborhood is partnered with local law enforcement who register and monitor the offenders. Kids are all over the place with activities-with SVN we feel better knowing where the sex offenders are relative to where my kids are right now! Only SVN as far as I know does this.

Different Install but It Works
So you register on a website first then install it on your phone and you kid’s phone. I added her email from school. I can see where she is on a map and get an alert if she hangs out close to a sex offender’s house or if they email her. There are a lot of sex offenders in this town so this is just extra insurance.

Its not giving what its supposed to give
I like i can see the names of the offenders nearby but when you click to see the profile all of them say not available and thats kind if my whole point of this app, to see whos nearby.

Safe Virtual Neighborhood

App needs a lot of work
I downloaded this app to see sex offenders in my area and it’s not show any. The map keeps giving an error message saying the offenders list maybe incomplete.
