Welcome to Open Water Swim, the first Apple Watch and iPhone App dedicated to letting you track, analyze, and share your favorite activity: open water swimming! Open Water Swim was built and tested BY open water swimmers FOR open water swimmers.
We started with the need for a truly accurate tracker that would highlight the best aspects of your swim: your performance, where you went swimming, and satellite imagery to capture your favorite swim.
Open Water has gone above and beyond, thoroughly testing the app for accuracy and reliability when you are out in the open water. You can focus on your swim while Open Water handles the tracking.
And once you've completed your swim, you'll be able to relive the experience on your phone, which will add the swim to your monthly summary and provide a detailed look at your swim including: distance, pace, duration, heart rate, and energy burned. Beyond that, there's a native inspired heart rate graph and beautiful interactive map where you can choose to view satellite or topographical imagery.
And when you're done checking out all the details of your swim, we've given you a one click share button that will put together a beautiful summary of your swim to send to your friends.
We've also got built in logging, so you can send us your swim log if you notice something strange about your swim.

Aloha! Press to Pause is here! You can now pause using the Digital Crown and side button pressed at the same time. Watch Ultra users have always been able to pause with the action button and side button, but now Press to pause comes to the other Apple Watches. Make sure you enable the feature in the settings on the watch.

Aloha! I fixed an issue that occasionally prevented the share button from showing for the most recent swim. This also had the effect of speeding up the detail view for your swim. Enjoy!

Special thanks to feedback from Josh, our local tester, for suggesting improvements in this version which include: Action button on the Watch Ultra lets you start, pause, and resume your workout. Josh loves swimming, so he needed this. Other little improvements make this the best version of Open Water Swim....ever!

Hey swimmers! I improved the map in app. It's a lot faster, more informative, and most importantly, prettier. A complete overhaul of the start screen was in order so you have a slider now which means starting the swim is more tactile. There's a lot of behind the scenes improvement as well so you should have a better experience overall. Enjoy!

Great for swimmers
I love the look of this app: it’s straightforward and easy to read. The last place you swim shows up at the top which is really cool. My favorite thing about it is the tracker itself. On the watch I can now easily read everything and see if heart rate readings are being taken. I can also see the water temp which is kind of fun. Just love the live heart rate graph as I’m out swimming. Definitely seems accurate as well. Previously was getting all sorts of distance numbers for the same swim. Much better now.

If you swim in open water get this app
Went out today for my first swim with Open Water Swim App and it worked really well! Stats like pace and distance seem much more accurate than other apps I’ve tried and it was good fun to be able to share a beautiful visualization with friends and family. It was also eye-opening to see how much I swam off-course. Will definitely return to the post-swim stats and maps to gauge progress. Overall, really pleased and recommend highly.

The apple watch has a built-in open-water workout but I think it's totally worth the cost. I'm really enjoying it and set it up so it starts from my action button. I highly recommend it if you love open-water swimming 🙌🏊♂️🤙
